To all of you who look down on us Scandinavians and our armies, think about it this way: We haven't been in need of a military for some 70 years now and Sweden haven't needed one for around 200+ years.
We're the most peaceful nations on the entire planet and we are just NOW recruiting new militants. I live in Sweden and we have around 30 000 soldiers, the government is now telling us once more to join the army and fight off whatever threat we have before us. The Scandinavian army is just about to wake up and we'll defend our region with pride once the threat comes to knock on our door.
Swedish and Norwegian forces have trained US soldiers in arctic warfare for years upon years and Denmark have trained them in naval warfare for even longer. We know how to fight, we just need the numbers to do so.
I will serve with great pride and dedicate my life to this beautiful region along with thousands of Scandinavians. We will show the world that we are not as weak as you all might think.
For Sweden, Denmark and Norway. For Scandinavia.
If we face a common threat, all will unite.

0 Enemies? The Norwegian military contributed to the Security force in Afghanistan for over 10 years. They train and deploy United Nations peacekeeping soldiers around the world. The Army has had troops in Iraq to train the Iraqi Army for some time now. We also have our friend in the east that would like us to not have a military.
The Norwegian Armed Forces also contributes to our youth, in many ways. We have conscription with one year mandatory service if you become eligible. It is a year that you learn alot of things that you will have use for in your later years.
The National Guard does search parties for missing people in the woods, they help in chrisis etc.
We have a lot of use for our Armed Forces.
Please think this through. If you have 0 enemies, then you erase your military. What if an enemy suddenly comes knocking on your door? By then its too late. it is said that if you want peace you have to prepare for war.

I shared my tent with 5 others while I was serving in the Armed Forces in Norway. Luckily one was a persian muslim, the other was kurdish, the third was half thai, and the two others were white ethnic norwegians. We all shared the same values for our country. Freedom in belief and speech, democracy and unity.
Fun thing is, the kurdish one had better grades from high school in both norwegian and maths.
Having that said, racism, discrimination nor hate did exist between either of us.
They all loved our country as much as I did. They were all as norwegian as I was. Didn't matter what ethnicity we had, what belief we chose, or what color of our skin was. What mattered was that we all cared for Norway, and wanted to contribute.

Going into the swedish armed forces in just about a month, did my tryouts this weekend and managed to get into one of the hardest places. During our extra tryouts there where many different cultures there. Yes most of us were white males but some muslims and thai people aswell. With that being said, ive meet these people for 4 days total and i can already trust my life in them. We don¨t need people telling us that the country is only for the people who grew up there. It is for everyone who neds a safe place in the world. As long as you help us keep it that way you are welcome!

The Norwegian Armed Forces don’t want recruits who join the army just to shoot guns, they want people who love their country and are willing to fight for it. In Norwegian the armed forces are called “Forsvaret” which means “the defense”. We do not join the army to purposely go to war and kill people, we join to defend our country, our people and our freedom as well as the freedom of others. The armed forces are about more than weapons, it’s about a feeling of belonging, gratefulness, pride and responsibility. Don’t turn it into something ugly.
