Fun fact: The composer for this game was Yoko Shimomura who would later go on to work for Squaresoft and compose the music for the Kingdom Hearts games which are heavily based around the Disney universe.
I had this as a kid... I must not have liked it much though because only the Pirates level is even remotely familiar. Great video once again my friend!!!
Man, you're really making me wanna go back to Disney World again. Got to go there my first time back in late 2019, and it was also the first time I ever got to take a proper vacation. A glorious time was had.
The Master Spectre kill screen you could get in the first screen of the Haunted House gave me more than my fair share of nightmares as a kid. Still love this game though!
Another great partnership was Sega and Disney when Disney games were made for the Sega Genesis. There are games like QuackShot and World of Illusions which was literally two of the BEST games I ever played to this day. It really seemed like when it came to Disney games, Sega/Disney put in extra effort to make those some great games.
This is one of those games that really surprised me when I first played it. Still have the haunted house music playing in the back off my mind great choice of games so many memories of better times. Duck tales ,Chip and Dale and this one put many smiles on my face

Well done video! I enjoyed the additional background information and props for the dedication to bring the game on your family vacation to get those shots in the park!
Thanks Trevin. I try to bring some interesting facts as much as I can. I don't regret taking those shots for the video either. Got a few strange looks from other park goers though lol.

I remember playing this once over a friends house as a kid. I had no idea so much went into making it. Great video! My wife and I just took our boys to Disney world in January! Love the shoes by the way. I tried to order a pair the day they came out but they were already sold out.
I hope you and the family had a great time at Disney World. We were there in February. I think everyone handled the social distancing precautions well. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words about the shoes.
I played this game a lot as a kid. I did alright with the normal stages, but the trivia questions were a problem. Being a kid from a country where English is not the default national language, this was a major obstacle for me.
What would everyone want to see in a reimagining of this game for modern consoles? I’d love a Roger Rabbit Crazy Taxi minigame as Benny the cab going around Toon Town. Maybe playing as Goofy in the Star Wars universe in some fashion as well 🤔
I'd definitely be down with the Roger Rabbit concept. A water level for Splash Mountain would be cool too or It's a Small World with the evil animatronics trying to attack you🤣
I owned this game as a kid. I remember being at seers when my mom bought it. I actually really liked playing the game but always wished there were more levels like Tom Sawyer's island and the castle itself as some kind of final level that unlocks after you collect all the keys.
Great video on a title I've only ever heard of through you, great to learn more about it. Sounds like it had an interesting trip to the stores for sure. The multiple game styles really remind me of the old Ocean multi-game-genre film licenses like Robocop and Batman on the home computers. Don't know what those NES games were like, I know Batman was Sunsoft on NES rather than Ocean so is an entirely different game, but Batman the Movie had platform, puzzle, driving and flying segments. Thanks for another fantastic mini-doc, hope you're keeping well!
@@GenerationGapGaming Yeah I think they were that way everywhere, but my Nintendo familiarity is really focussed on the Gameboys and the Nintendo DS. Their Gameboy games seem pretty great though. For every great title there was one like the C64 version of Robocop (which I still own on tape) which has a totally glitched 4th stage you can only beat with a level skip or a map to tell you exactly where you can walk.
I appreciate this video. That was a game I remember seeing a little back in the day but like you said Rescue Rangers completely overshadowed it at the time. I do remember renting RR a couple of times back then as I was a big fan of Capcom in the NES & SNES days.
One of the first "weapons" in Second Life I built was the throwing candle. To me, it made the most sense to have an item that I could use as a projectile but something that didn't look like a weapon for areas that banned carrying weapons on you.
One thing that stands out regarding this game is when I used the game genie to get a "super jump." When I entered the haunted house and jumped as soon as the level started the spectre would stop me and kick me out of the level. He had text saying something but that was so long ago I don't remember.
Great video thanks. You had lots of interesting facts about the prototype. This game was a perfect weekend rental. It was easy to beat in a few days and just when you got tired of it, it was time to return it to the store. Always fun to pick up and play again every few years. There were all kinds of playground rumors about secret attractions you could visit like Small World and Jungle Cruise. Never knew there was actually a seed of truth about Jungle Cruise. Thanks again.
I’m amazed at how punishing this game was to us kids, but we kept coming back for abuse due to the charm, intoxicating chip tunes, and Capcom’s extra polish that made NES games somehow better than most other NES developers.
Really glad you guys are going soon! I'm kinda jealous 😅. Yeah I knew I wanted to make this video one day and we went in February so I planned ahead lol. Think of me if you get an Orange Citrus Swirl in Adventureland. Those are soooo good
I only got most of Disney's NES titles from the Afternoon Collection on PS4 and XBox One. I did have most of Disney's Sega games though. Like The Jungle Book, Aladdin, and The Lion King.
Really appreciate the time you take doing these videos, the research you put in every video already lets me know once I click I’m going to find out things I didn’t know what went into the game, plus the game itself with the tips! I look forward to every game you research no matter if I ever played it as a kid, actually it makes me want to check the game out after! The difficulty to Big Thunder Mountain depends on the assigned station. 4 is the easiest, because if you choose not to steer the train it automatically goes to station 4.

Kudos for taking videos of the game at the actual park rides lol. There is a sequel to this game on the Super Famicom called Mickey Tokyo Disneyland Daibouken.
The thing that's never made sense about this game is how Mickey tells you they've lost the keys, and you have to get them back, but then he's like, "You need to race me and then I'll give you this key." What...?

Congratulations on your video, it definitely is thorough and well made. Maybe more so than the game deserves… As can be seen on longplays here on TH-cam or by playing it first hand, it’s a (frustratingly) short game. It definitely has that Capcom/NES feel of good quality of playability / graphics / music (Yoko Shimomura is a personal idol), but the fact that over half the map is unplayable is frustrating; all that wasted potential… At the very least it would’ve been fair to be able to play one final level inside the castle, as a reward. We don’t even get to see the parade from the game’s premise, just a still image for an ending. I wish for someone to hack the game’s ROM in order to create more levels, providing so of a more complete Magic Kingdom experience.
I always felt like there should have been a Jungle Cruise Level (for adventureland), and a final unlocked level in the castle (represents fantasyland) after you get all the keys. This game seemed too short and could have been a masterpiece otherwise!

I bought Magic Kingdom back when it came, just for the coverart (the PAL-B SCN, different from the REV-A US version) - but I hated it.
