I put 10w-40 and thought it might be too thick then I saw you put even thicker oil 15w-50😳. My main reason for putting 10-40 was hot summer and 220,000 miles.
Hello and thanks for sharing. Don't you think it was better to use 0W20 oil? And the magnet, in my opinion, would be better located on the oil filter, it has to stay there because anyway you throw it away at the end with all the accumulated filings.
I dont usually comment on the way people do things but bloody tyre jack a hell to the NO! Never put your body under the vehicle with this sort of jack! It fails your DEAD!
He didn’t stay this but make sure while doing an oil change to disconnect the high voltage battery first before you do ANYTHING. There’s a chance the engine can turn over on you when the keys are near by the engine. You don’t wanna run the motor without oil or god forbid your doing something else with your hands in the engine bay! Just a safety tip!

Why not converting your car into plugin ?
That magnet you put on the plug scares me. Big bump and now your engine is gone
Factory have like that many models but inside a oil pan they never moved ever doesnt
Jack stands are not that expensive! Also I question the weight of oil and maybe you should of displayed filter number, but great video!

I have run 5-40 T6 on these engines for years ..the vvt-i is only on the intake side... Engine is slightly quieter .. less of the oil burns off...
I think 0W20 would be what is recommended.
@@Volkyno oil filter cap on my 1zzfxe has 5-20
You do not need a magnet. The oil filter does the job for you.
I like that your video is 11:11
I put magnets on the filter as well.
15W50 should not be used in a prius. Your oil cap should state 5W30
I think 0W20 would be what is recommended.
@@Volkynodepends on the year, in this case 5W-30 is what is specified by manufacturer
04-09 is all 5w/30. Maybe he’s burning oil hence the thicker oil
Be careful my jack failed on me once good thing I wasn't under it
I threw away mine recently. Always always put your wheels under your car as secondary backup
Vlad u may have used the wrong oil but tbe rest of the procedure was awesome. ur a legend! a pauper a poet, hek a KING, a king to end all kings!! lmao
What’s the name of the proper oil ?
5w 30 full synthetic @@kaydimarco2802
He meant wrong weight it calls for 5W30.

Love the video, short and to the point. Just put the right oil in next time, 5w-30
you should replace the drain plug gasket and also you should not use the tool to tighten the filter. hand tight is plenty tight
Where do find the replacement ? Do you know the name and measurements?
@@kaydimarco2802 it’s M12, can get a pack of them at any parts store, online, or from Toyota of course
Hey Vlad, great video. Q: did you have to install a lift kit for the 17s or still factory height?
Will 5W30 oil work instead and what is the name/size of that oil filter?
5w-30 is what’s supposed to go in there. Maybe it burns oil and that’s why he’s using a thicker oil
@@frankv64 Thanks! And filter?
Should title this how not to do an oil change. Don't EVER get under a car using that jack. Set a proper jack stand under the car after lifting.

he literally said not to do that part of what he did
@@danyAldon I didn't notice lol coz could you imagine the ppl copying him that'd actually be terrifying
@@danyAldon then why include it in his tutorial? When I'm watching a tutorial, I'm expecting to emulate exactly what the person in the video is doing.
He's not UNDER the car. He's reaching his arm.
Did the thick oil (15w-50) do well?
May I ask why 15w-30 rather than 5w-30?
I think 0W20 would be what is recommended.
Wtf 15w50
Yea it's never good to add heavier oil than specified on modern engines it's a good way to ruin your motor
I could not find the playlist
Nice TC rims.
Vlad, Do you have a link to purchase the magnet that you put on the oil drain plug?
I think i used 1/4" cubed magnet but a cylinder one would fit better: amzn.to/315HfPN
@@JustVlads Thanks again!
Vlad, Are those 17" or 18" tc wheels on the Prius?
They are 17" scion tc wheels which go on perfectly for the prius.
@@JustVlads Cool...thanks!
@@JustVlads One more question; what size are your tires on the prius?
@@JustVladsdoes this affect fuel consumption?
Vlad, What size are the tires on the 17" Scion wheels that you have on the Prius?
i think they are 215/45/17
@@JustVlads Cool, thanks again Man!
How come you are using 15w50 oil
It seems awfully too thick, especially for an engine that's starting and stopping several times more than a regular engine.
Wrong oil is no good at all😳
He's a moron
Oil you use is not recomanded.
Good video simple and informative 👍.
Exelent
Holy shit my BMW r nine t and Toyota Prius both take 15-50 oil.
Toyota must have the best engineers in the world or everyone else is just lazy
I can’t believe this process costs me $80
Seriously I need to learn to do this myself lol
Thank you so much for this information it really helps
Thanks so helpful
Should lower car before you check oil

Gen 2's require synthetic. Synthetic is not optional.
No they don't. It states 5W-30 on the oil cap.
