    Super easy video to follow, thank you!
    FYI to anyone who runs into this issue- after refilling the coolant and turning the car on, the pump was running but there was 0 movement in the reservoir and nothing coming out of the bleed valve. After freaking out for a good minute, I ended up repeatedly sueezing the inlet hose of the water pump which helped dislodge a ton of trapped air, which then got the fluid moving.

    • @gracepryor9960
      @gracepryor9960 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Just did this today, and I probably spent five minutes squeezing air out of that inlet hose before fluid finally went down it!

    I did this today while changing the inverter pump. I drained the old coolant first, then I proceed to change out the inverter pump. It created less of a mess and didn't have to clamp the hoses off. After the pump was installed I filled it with the new coolant like in your video. The small plug where you bled the line for me didn't have much air in it because I forgot to open it when It was draining . but this definitely works!. Best way to kill two bird with one stone, also taking the headlight off gives you more space to work on the inverter pump. Thank you for the video!

    Thanks for making this vid, very clear and made the job easy! At 245,000 miles I was long overdue. I had put it off thinking it was a difficult process. I will also add that I used a 24mm socket on the drain plug, since everything else on this car has been metric.

    Awesome video, saved me having to replace my whole water pump because I just needed to burp a little bubble from the coolant that was tripping the engine check system. NOTE for other viewers: I had to use a 1/4” OUTER diameter, 0.170” inner diameter tube on my 2009 Prius. The 1/4” inner was too big for my car.

    Quick question:
    I see you are doing the whole process, from start to finish, with the key/fob in the socket (as if just before turning the car ON).
    I saw multiple processes with the car that needs the fob to be far from car so it doesn't turn on various systems. Is it not the case here? ie - is it perfectly fine to do the whole process with the fob in the car?

    My 2006 prius decided to come up with the trianle of death.
    The duagnosis was inverter cooling pump fail so will drain the fluid first, replace the pump and then refill as per the very clear and logical steps in this video.
    Cant believe someone used green stuff. Definitly more suited to copper related systems.
    By the way ive recently had to bite the bullet and replace my hybrid battery after having replaced various failed cells over the past few years.
    Also had to replace the hybrid battery control board due to corosion caused by module leakage over time.
    Only done 110K km so wirth keeping until I can afford a Tesla

  • @lmc2375
    @lmc2375 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was great, helpful. Separate matter entirely. What would you maybe know about why Ready light comes on, won't stay on? I thought it was 12V, replaced it and new neg ground wire. It did Ready on, then started acting up by turning itself off a min. or less later The hole for ground wire screw had a tiny screwdriver scraping for any residue, corrosion, not much, but that did at least make some difference. It then kept Ready light on for about 15 min., drove for a block and back, then went off again. I really hate going to dealer, they clearly rip people off. I've caught them twice in outright lies so, I now avoid them. Few others seem to know a little, but not enough. I know just one rather knowledgeable place, but they're 4 hrs. away in Bakersfield. Found them super helpful once on way back to Palm Springs. Will drive there if I have to, but figured I would make a few more inquiries to see. It is an 09', should just buy a new one. Though, one of my dogs sheds, and thought of that in a brand new car is a huge turn off. I do drive it even though Toyota said "You can't." I disconnected Neg cable and its ground wire. Ran a single cable clamp to neg post, its other end to nearby ground. It is a pain to unclamp, wait 30 sec. reclamp, but it is possible to drive. Yest. I started it that way, then removed clamp to reclamp for some reason and to my surprise all remained ON, did not go off like it usually would. I actually drove it around like that. Not sure how that was possible, but I did it anyway. Another looking at it said "You can't drive it with its single neg cable disconnected, but I showed him that I was/am. I left bc if he could not see how that I drove it just like that to him. What help is he really going to then be. I even went to 2 electrical shops, they did not know, they wanted to bolt the single cable clamp on. Why? Then I would have to unbolt to reclamp to start it? No! I do not know a lot about Prius, but I found these two guys are not thinking too far ahead, mwybe should not have them working on my car if I know a bit something more than they do on that one idea. I could end up with other problems. I have had things before so, I'm leery. Just asking what would be your thoughts as to what it could be, if you had a min to say. Thank you.

    can you just add coolant if it is little low?? thx

      @marcb7231 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but only add Toyota Super Long Life (pink) Coolant. That and you must be sure that it hasn't been previously replaced with a non Toyota Coolant before adding or you could end up with gel by mixing and matching different brands.

    Is one gallon enough to replace?

    Leaving bleeder open while filling coolant with shorten bleed time.

    When you have the hose connected to the bleeder valve, you should let it drain into an empty container NOT in the reservoir. This way if you have any old coolant in the lines it will not contaminate the fresh coolant in the reservoir.
