I just beat all 3 Max Payne games. They are pretty good.
This game got me into the band HEALTH. loved this game and HEALTH is so damn good!
One of my most played favorites of all time. RIP James McCaffrey, MP3 wouldn’t be so iconic without his voice and the amazing motion capture performance that added so much heavy weight to the movements of an older Max.
Such a great time that still holds up today. My only gripe-everyone has it - no unstoppable cutscenes, but at least there’s New York minute
I like how Rockstar implements ideas created in one game to other titles. From Max Payne 3, the bullet time ability was directly ported over for Micheal's ability in GTA5.
In RDR2, they added cinematic killcams originally implemented in Max Payne 3, and from the gameplay footage you showed, I also sense that the trolley mission in RDR2 was heavily inspired by a mission from Max Payne 3.
Inspecting notes up-close with the ability to flip sides in RDR2 is something taken from LA Noire.
Hence, it's exciting to see the culmination of different game mechanics across different Rockstar titles that will be present in GTA6.
You did know that Max Payne 1 was the first game to include bullet time, right ?
And Remedy Entertainment was the studio behind max payne 1+2
Cool fact about the pianos, each time you play one he plays the theme better until the final one in which he plays the game's theme without messing up, very cool detail
This is one of a small handful of games that get replayed often and are immune to time. Every time i play it I get inspired to learn the theme tune on piano/keyboard.

God this series really deserves some kind of remaster at least on a graphical sense because honestly you can't really catch the same lightning twice with this. Always funny whenever you were able to dive back onto a pool deck chair on the yacht that's a great incredible difficulty to get there to begin with along with simply getting Max into his own bed
Search it up. There working on max payne 1 and 2 remasteres most likely just graphical because James mcaffey is dead

Max Payne 1 through 3 are incredible works of art. 3 is still the pinnacle of third-person shooter mechanics, animations, and ragdoll physics in my opinion. Rest in peace, James McCaffrey. He lives on forever as Max Payne and as a good man.

Max Payne 3 is one of my favourite games of all time! I was so sad when I found out James McCaffery passed away, and it still don't seem real 😢 He will forever live on as the one of the greatest Video Game characters ever!
I'm looking forward to you doing Max Payne 1 and 2! I think a lot of the things you picked as random or not ground breaking are a base part of Max Payne going back to 1, so it puts some of that in a broader context. Like how Max Payne 1 was the second game (and 1st hit game) to implement bullet time.
Delighted to see a video on this, Fizhy. I played through Max Payne 3 only once but it really stuck with me as an all-time favourite, for its style, gameplay and James McCaffrey's immense performance. Hope you cover the first two games as well - more needs to be said on how Bullet Time set the stage for the likes of Dead Eye in the years that followed.

My day was ruined when James McCaffrey died, such an iconic voice. It's sad that we won't hear him again. I think that his voice alone made those games iconic. I wonder if he managed to record all his lines to the upcoming remake. You definitely should play MP and MP2, they still look incredibly well for the time they came out. I played them for the first time in 2018 as I was too young to play when they were released but still it didn't make me feel they are very dated or hard to play. The graphics are still nice, the gameplay is fun as hell and Max's face in the first game is just legendary 😅
The first two games are pretty dated, but good nonetheless. I'd watch you do a playthrough. Great job on the video, makes me want to replay them all.
I'd love it if Rockstar would remaster the first two games, hopefully not like the GTA trilogy...

Max Payne 3 has gameplay features that were meant to be an experiment for GTA 5 features. However, this has been shown to a higher extent in Red Dead Redemption 2. The weapon wheel and the targeting dot are the only things that truly match GTA V’s gameplay aesthetic. Thanks for this great video and keep it up!

Higly suggest anyone who wants to play this game, play it on pc with mouse and keyboard it fits better with the run and gun gameplay. It also looks better. Very enjoyable on the highest difficulties too

I recently went back and played this game and idk what it is but for some reason i can see why this was a huge development nightmare for Rockstar.
Their goal of taking the Triple AAA quality theyre Reknown for when it comes to their Open World Titles and streamlining it into a Third Person Shooter is seen with the Destruction in the Branco Headquarters Shootout.
The attention to Detail when it comes to the Glass shattering/Cover being Destroyed and walls being Destroyed is pretty damn good.
For someone reason though i feel like they shot their Wad in that moment and failed to recapture the magic after that.
If i could make a Wish for GTA 6,it would be to have the Shoot Dodge Mechanics from Max Payne 3 return in the Single player mode

I played Max Payne (1) so much I got repetative strain injury on my wrist using bullet time. I got hooked on pain killers so the other two were a blurry god forsaken haze.

I remember playing this game when it first launched and seeing this video you have put together is shocking to me how well this game looks! It almost looks better than gtav! Although I’m guessing they kinda were developed at the same time so makes sense. I really hope they make a new one someday

Your a little harsh on a 2012 graphics shoot em up game and I think the graphics and gameplay and story looks good, a lil bit of GTA vibes too.

For Max Payne fans, 3 seems to a bit a marmite. I however love it (although the second game is my favourite). It's obviously not what a Remedy third game would have been and is very Rockstar but I love what it is and feel that Rockstar cynicism felt quite fitting for Max. Also the use of the chromatic aberration (?) to symbolise Max's mental state/sobrierty (or lack of) is really nice and makes it feel fitting that he doesn't notice some shit (tho I can be a sucker for unreliable narration as a storytelling technique).
I know this really isn’t the video for it but on red dead redemption 2 on the last mission some of the bodies you shoot look like characters in the game if that makes sense?
I saw someone that looked exactly like Dutch Micah and someone that even looked like an older Jack Marston, maybe consider checking it out, there isn’t a lot there but maybe it’s some strange cult they had in there gang or something.

This one introduced me to the Max Payne series, but I’d take Max Payne 1 or 2 any day of the week over this. The gameplay is phenomenal, but the story is so bad, especially compared to the previous Max Payne games.

There are four pianos you can interact with in this game. They're Easter eggs that reference pianos you can interact with in the previous games that would play the theme. The final one is beautiful.
