Solent Ships is operated from Town Quay, the Old Town quarter of Southampton, where the Mayflower departed 400 years ago.
Utilising various cameras our small crew are dedicated in providing a window onto our historic waterfront in the Solent region. The ‘Captain’ of our crew is a licenced drone pilot and day skipper, with an added passion for photography.
This channel has a large library of drone footage, documenting (with commentary) the various vessels that sail by one of the busiest Ports in the UK. At Solent Ships, you can also access 24 hour live streaming video of the day-to-day movements of all shapes and sizes of marine traffic, an ever-changing view that is enjoyed by cruise ship enthusiasts and water watchers worldwide.
The channel is expanding with new camera locations and with regular live commentary and millions of views a month, Solent Ships is the most interactive shipping-based channel on TH-cam. So I have just thoroughly enjoyed watching all over again 😁. Those fish n chips looked totally scrumptious... where did you find them? 😋
@@PatLuckett fish chips was from a takeaway in Cowes Shipmate.
@@SolentShipsWas it Corries Cabin?
@@PatLuckett yes it was Shipmate. Couldn't remember the name
@@SolentShips Many thanks, I'll have to visit.
Both watches were wonderful. Different elements catching the eye. & what weather! You couldn't have timed posting better!!! 😉🌟
TFS
Thanks shipmate
What a fabulous video. Thankyou for braving the weather and walking 12 miles 😮. My favourites were the first starry night inspired one, the He's a Keeper one and the last pirate themed one.
Couldn't decide if your background music reminded me of having a facial in a beauty salon or visiting a funeral parlour 🥴. Your fish and chips looked tasty. Although nothing rivals my local Grimsby fish 🐟. Southampton and Cowes both looked lovely. Thanks Captain 🪝
Thanks Shipmate. The last one was rather good. Grimsby week is known for fish and chips.
Late to watching this. What creative works of art! Well done to all involved and thank you captain for doing all the legwork and filming.
Glad you liked it shipmate, it's good to see the Lighthouses around town.
The day this was filmed, was the day I went to live in the Cotswolds. So it will remain for me to enjoy the lighthouse art & a tour of the familiar parts of the city in which I have lived & worked for over 60 years. Great film. Thankyou.
Thanks Shipmate. Enjoy the Cotswolds. Are you planning on visiting diddly squat?
Very unlikely.@@SolentShips
That was lovely 😊
Thanks shipmate. Glad you enjoyed it
Very enjoyable tour of the Lighthouses. Lovely, restful music as your background. Thanks for taking us on the tour Captain.
Glad you liked it, Shipmate
Local guide par excelance 🏆 Mesmerising! Thank you so much for all that effort, a veritable Treasure Trove 🥳🎉📯
Thanks shipmate. Certainly was a tour of the City.
You really do take us on some journeys Captain really impressed with them!! They are decorated beautifully 😍😍🥰 I wonder what they are made from?? The one good thing no spiders this time thank you 😉😁that was very enjoyable
They aer made of fiberglass, shipmate. Glad you like the journeys.
Excellent, really enjoyable and looking forward to seeing some of them when we're in Southampton in two weeks' time.
If you fancy walking the trail, make sure you have some good shoes on shipmate
@@SolentShips I think I'll be staggering as far as the Dancing Man! If I was staying longer I'd be interested in seeing more, they really are very good.
Did you get to see them? All on display at the Boat Show all together, right now - in the main walk in, so it's free to view them 🙂
@@JulesLightTheSouth Yes we did Jules, we always come down to Southampton the day before a cruise so we found a lot of them in town and they were wonderful, Captain's video certainly did them justice.
Started watching and kept going. Just had to see all those lighthouses and where the trail led. My only disappointment was there was no flat pack lighthouse outside Ikea! 😉
Brilliant Shipmate, think they have missed a trick there
Oh! That would have been so funny.... I can't attach a pic here, but on our stand here at the Boat Show, what we do have on display is two embroidered lighthouses - and they are sort of flat! Unfortunately despite being a major business and employer in the city, IKEA was not willing to support the Hospital charity with this fundraiser. If you can, come and see all the sculptures together here at the Boat Show entrance - they look amazing!
Thoroughly enjoyed your lighthouse trek, it paints Southampton in a good light & some of the nicest I've seen. A bit disappointing they didn't stretch further across the Isle of Wight.
Thanks shipmate. I suppose it kept all the lighthouses in walking distance
Hi Sue. Unfortunately we really struggled to get Island businesses to sponsor the lighthouses - I promise we would have had more if we could have convinced businesses to support the charity. You can see them all on display together at the Boat Show this week - I think Red Funnel have an offer for tickets? The lighthouses are 'this' side of the ticketing area so free to view
@@JulesLightTheSouth Hello Jules. excellent news regarding the lighthouses on mass display at the boat show. Hopefully more businesses from the Island will take part in future events. 👍🏻😎♥️🚢⛵🛳️⛵🛥️🚢🚤
Lovely shoes captain lol
Thanks shipmate. Don't have many land based shoes
Love anyone's of these in my galley
You can bid for them at auction, shipmate
Salutări din România Prietene 🙋🙋🇷🇴foarte frumos este orașul în care locuiești 💞😀
CF. Thank you shipmate
Wow, I made it to the end Captain! Excellent video, I agreed with your favourite choices, thank you. Inspired me to take the ferry and explore the city!
I'm glad you have been inspired shipmate. Thanks for watching thwe whole film, I know it was kind of long
East Cowes terminal now has full size photo of the Solent Ships lighthouse 😉
That's the best Lighthouse, shipmate
@@SolentShips I totally agree 😁
The building to the left of number 27 ( now a restaurant ) used to belong to my old firm Brimley & Co ltd and we were ships electrical ship suppliers , I think it was originally the old customs house .
Number 27 is of course my favourite. It's a lovely building, that the restaurant La Regatta is in. Interesting that it was used for ship business. Thanks for the information Shipmate, I never knew that.
different
Thanks shipmate
