My wife and I travelled to the UK from Australia in October 2023 for a cruise aboard the P&O Arcadia to Norway and back out of Southampton. We stayed in the Pig in the Wall for 2 nights. The first day we did day trips to Winchester and Salisbury, and on day two we did the sights of Southampton. We went to the Titanic museum and had dinner in the Duke of Wellington pub. We loved our short stay in Southampton.

I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. So much to do there for visitors.
We didn't get to the Titanic museum, next time tho. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for this informative video. I appreciated the relative perspective of the hotels to the cruise port. Never been, but will next Spring.

I had a blast. Had planned on going to another nearby city but there was a lot to do in Southampton.

We are spending three nights in Southampton at the Holiday Inn before we cruise in July. Looks like there is plenty to see and do.

Southampton is quite walkable and I found it very interesting. There's a couple of towns a quick train ride away but I found plenty to do in Southampton. Holiday inn is walkable to the terminal but I don't know if they allow it. We just explored and googled walking tour of Southampton. Hope you have a fantastic time.

@@JourneywithJosh I live in Southampton and it is ok to walk into the docks as long as you are going on a cruise. There is security on the gates but you are unlikely to be refused admission.

    I 100% sympathize with the rant at 6:14....it's called "Murphy's Law". 😁

70% of Southampton was destroyed by the Nazi's in WW2. Then further destroyed by city town planners in the 1950s onwards. Jane Austen loved living in Southampton and hated Winchester, which Winchester won't mention. The Mayflower memorial was near where you were. It left Southampton before it went to Plymouth, plus the Red Lion pub, was where Henry the V left for his war with the French. If you ever come back, check it out.. I'm proud of my home city, even if the city council isn't.

Wonderful information. I really appreciate it. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Southampton. I had thought about going to nearby places but there was plenty to see an do for my short time there. I hope to sail out of there again in the future. Thank you for your comment and for watching.

I like southampton, just visited last week as one of the cities we visited from China. I studied there in the University 20 years ago. It is a livable place.

Thanks for the content. We will be there in June and we are staying one night in Southampton after the cruise, we r also on the Anthem. I’ve been reading a lot of negative comments as there’s not much to do there or it’s not a good place to go sightseeing, so I hope that is not the case. Based on your video it appears there is stuff to see and do. 👍🏼🛳️

There is the Titanic Museum, the Aviation Museum as it's the home of the Spitfire. Those with eyes to see can have a good time

I found there were a lot of things to do. And a quick train ride could add more.
Now, if you're from the area, one might not feel the same way.

Titanic was not a "cruise ship",it was an ocean liner.Very amateurish video. (I was born in Southampton in 1940!)
