I think at this point, it's more than sufficient to change your video subtitle to "MY GIRLFRIEND LOVES DRAGON BALL". Madison is as adorably astute as ever, (as usual). Her investment in the series as it progresses is completely genuine, and further enhances her reaction as the episodes pass. Also, it's pretty refreshing to see couples react to and enjoy films, TV series, and Anime together -- it does nothing but add to the enjoyment of seeing reactions.
One of the best Vegeta moments in the series. The only other one I can think of thats better is in the Buu saga. Sadly this moment quickly goes downhill by the choices he makes in this fight.
Look at that panel at 9:35. The animation style in these few episodes leading up to Android 18's absorption was NEXT LEVEL. Every character was drawn so incredibly well. I wish they could have kept this level of quality up for the rest of the series.

Man you just had to be there. Watching this in real time as the first time each episode came out. As a kid I used to rush home from school to catch the last 15 min of DBZ because school used to finish at 2 and the show aired at 2. Luckily I lived close to the school and rode my bike. Then I would have to catch the first 15 min of the episode when it aired the rerun at 9pm. I remember riding my bike so fast to watch DBZ that I fell and got a huge gash on my knee. The whole “ascension” thing has had a massive buildup to it, and the funny thing is, as we’ll eventually find out… it isn’t even the TRUE ascension, rather it’s just an enhanced version of Super Saiyan. So many twists and turns ahead!!
I like to think of it like there ARE no new SSJ forms or even new versions of SSJ, it's all just regular SSJ, just different uses of its power. For example, I view Vegeta as figuring a way to sacrifice his energy efficiency and stamina for a big boost in power, speed, and durability and to push the Super Saiyan power level higher than what it can normally do, buffing the body up more than normal. I view Trunks as figuring how to sacrifice energy efficiency, stamina AND speed in order to get a HUGE boost in power, durability and WAY more energy output in SSJ than normal. Then, I view Gohan and Goku mastering the Super Saiyan form as a way of going back to the basics and treating it like a base form so they don't waste any energy turning it on or holding it, and that way they aren't sacrificing ANYTHING, they're keeping a balance between all the important stuff and this allows them to just focus on raising their SSJ power output, so it stays efficient and they maintain their stamina, power, speed, all of it - and that's what allows them to get so much stronger. And then I view SSJ2 as a way of stacking SSJ on top of SSJ - it's like now that mastered SSJ is treated like the base form, they just use the inner feeling of transforming and do it while they're already in mastered SSJ form and that's how they created SSJ2.
Fun fact most people who does martial arts is cause of dragon ball and i know that cause i took martial arts classes cause of this show and people got asked why everyone wants to take it and we all said dragon ball.

I’m glad to see Madison is enjoying the show and story so much, mission accomplished for you there, and I was also glad to see you mention at the end how a lot of fans of the series are inspired by a lot of the characters and depth and meaning and messages of the show. It’s a rabbit hole 🕳 🐇 which can be endlessly discussed because of how well written it is, and like you said, we can take elements of it and really apply them to our everyday lives with immediacy and for real rewards. Just looking at this episode, it’s obvious that a lot of attention will go to Vegeta and his confidence, arrogance and pride because that obviously stands out. But the more you look 👀 the more you can really notice other things which are even more significant. Madison super cheerfully noticed how 16 has so many friends, with the birds 🐥 and squirrels 🐿 and such crawling all over him or cowering behind him. The reason they do this is because they can sense that he poses no ill will or harm towards them. Animals in real life can sense the same, and people too. That’s a simple message we can learn right there, to be a non-threatening presence to animals and people around us, to earn trust. But expanding on that, 16 in this moment is a microcosm of the whole series. Goku is a Saiyan, a race who for whatever reasons have long dealt in destruction and priority of the self over others. He came to Earth 🌏 and through all the circumstances we know of became a selfless person seeking proper self-growth and who wouldn’t needlessly harm anyone if they never presented a threat to someone unfairly. We know the effect he then in turn had on many other characters, especially on Piccolo, and we saw Piccolo go from a selfish person who wouldn’t bat an eyelid 👁 at hurting others to a defender of the innocent and a surrogate father to the son of his once worst enemy and now greatest friend and ally. He has notably stepped in to save the day or take blasts to protect others. Including most recently the androids who were his enemies. Everything in Dragonball 🐉 🌟 begins this way, with seeds being planted and always paid off down the road. The longer you’ve been a fan, the more you know this. We even saw 17 thanking Piccolo before his absorption. Everyone can change. Getting back to 16, he was created and tasked with one mission, the destruction of Goku. That’s what he was taught, so to speak. Just like a Saiyan. But here he is, slowly finding his own purpose through observation and reflection. Slowly disregarding what he was told to do, he sees beauty and worth in the world 🗺 and the lives around him, both creatures and humans. He is awakening, growing, becoming a meaningful existence capable of helping others and serving a real purpose in this world instead of harm. The growth of every single character, their realizations, connections, efforts, they all lead into something else, and that teaches us the same can be true for us. Change today in one small way, and it can be the first domino to fall on the way to something even more amazing and significant. So it’s not only about Vegeta powering up and being so impressive with his cockiness and self belief and real gains based on his ability to push himself. Change is happening everywhere in Dragonball, in big ways and small, in fast ways and slow. In places our attention is more drawn to, and in places it is less drawn to. Even in this episode, we can see 18 flicking and adjusting her hair, if only for a moment, and it’s a small sign of the vanity her and 17 felt from the beginning. They are in love with themselves, their image, their power, their fun. That was their first priority. Through having their place in a perceived hierarchy upended, they learn that everything you might have pride in can be taken away, and what’s more important than vanity and gloating is the connections we can forge with others to protect each other when calamity arrives, as it inevitably does in life. Of course Cell is also an embodiment of pure vanity and selfishness, his one obsession is with how perfect he is, about what he deserves, not a single cell (sorry, pun not intended but it’s unavoidable, lol) in his body cares for others. That’s why he has to be taken down. While it’s fun to see Vegeta’s ego oozing out of him with every grin and verbal shot, it’s important to note the difference between his ego and the ego of 17 and 18 and then also Cell. They all exist on a scale. Cell is one extreme, Goku the other, Vegeta is working his way towards Goku, the androids are working their way towards Vegeta, and Goku and Cell will never move. Vegeta’s arrogance and ego are more forgivable and merit-worthy because even as he rejects all offers of help and even his own son, he is slowly beginning to become a member of a team and to fight to defend something. He’d deny it at this point in his growth and arc, but he is making friends and a family, and his ego is increasingly being applied in their service and not just his own. That is the difference between him, the androids and Cell. Despite their similarities, there are huge meaningful differences. I hope that fans realize that and I’m sure they do, that ego in the service purely of the self is far out-shadowed by ego in the service of self-betterment in turn in the service of serving something greater than yourself. Even Piccolo says it from the lookout while looking down and sensing Vegeta’s power growing - “He wants to prove himself to us”. Goku defeated Freeza on Namek, the oppressor who had humiliated Vegeta. Vegeta was powerless to take Freeza out himself. Then his own son took out Freeza again and Vegeta was also powerless to stop Freeza. And in his first meeting with the androids, he was humbled yet again. He for certain wants to prove to himself he can do this, but he also somewhere inside him wants to prove it to this group of people (and Namekian) too. We know Vegeta still has hurdles to overcome, mistakes to make and moments to shine, and he’s not the only one, but the wonderful thing about Dragonball is everyone is on their own timeline and constantly changing and evolving in their own ways. That might be the biggest message of Dragonball for all of us - we too, the fans, are all changing, growing and evolving in our own ways and at our own paces everyday in our lives which are so similar yet different at the same time. And change is not only cellular but mental and emotional. We should all do our best to train ourselves like the Saiyan crew in the Chamber of Spirit and Time and all the other characters at large to be the best versions of ourselves, both strong and gentle, kind or determined, in response to the circumstances surrounding us. I’ll wrap up my little essay here, heh, but yeah, I wanted to discuss some things in more depth than your video had time for. I hope some people read this and can agree with what I’m saying. Dragonball love forever 🐉🌟❤️, it will forever be a guiding light for me, just like I’m sure it is for everyone else here too 😊💡.
But its too bad that the Cell saga honestly starts to kind of suck halfway through. The Cell games final saga is one of the most nonsensical parts of the Cell arc.
The Cell game saga kind of sucks however. Way too many things that make no narrative sense. Like how can Cell regenerate himself after Goku blew his head off with a kamehameha?
@@LordMalice6d9 That's easy, he had power to regenerate as he has the cells of Piccolo, n besides this is one of the best saga's ever, buu saga was not that great, but the suspense created in this saga made this show one of the best of all time.
I love the ending to this video and hearing Madison’s perspective. After a couple of years of trying to get my girlfriend to watch it, our son got a DBZ poster that showed many of the characters. At that point, I told them that he can’t have that poster up unless we start watching it starting with Dragonball 😂 It quickly became both of their favorite shows, and we have now watched every dragonball series in order and many of the movies. Since watching them, we threw a dragonball z themed party for our son, got a cat and named him Gohan, and went to see Super Hero decked out in DBZ gear. I wore a Saiyan tank top, my girlfriend wore a pink Bulma shirt, and our son wore a Goku costume. Watching you guys do the same, it brings a tear to my eye. Dragonball is much deeper than it gets credit. Thanks for this series! It’s so fun to watch you guys react. I’m so excited for what’s to come
The thing is every human alive resonates with Vegeta no matter what. If ever you need motivation, look at his arc. Goku was naturally talented and yes also put in a hella lot of work to where he is. With Vegeta's perspective, it's more realistic to even our day-to-day tasks or goals of the future. We set it out thinking "we got this" then get a rude awakening. It isn't good enough so, you work harder. You reach new plateaus BUT you have to have the will power to keep doing better, keep being better...whether your competition is a single man or the entire universe... Keep pushing. All your hard work WILL pay off in the end and I think that's why Vegeta is personally my favorite anime character, EVER!
Not really, its always been his ego. Vegeta pushes himself cause he believes himself to be the best by his birth rite. In his mind he is the prince and Goku is a 3rd class so therefore he has to be the best. It’s just ego and pride and that shouldn’t resonate with anybody.
I love picking out the different themes for people in this show.. Like the one on the lookout is piccolo's theme (before trunks cries) then the hyperbolic time chamber music, and of course the super saiyan vegeta theme so good
Picollo may have trained Gohan in his early days. but with his dad gohan basically trained to become super saiyan 1 and 2. people dont give goku enough credit for his hand in gohan's training.
The problem with your whole statement is spoilers..Gohan himself in a few episodes is going to call out his dad as not being tough enough as a trainer to train him right like, wait for it, Piccolo. It was Gohan himself who compared his training with Piccolo to his dad's and found his Dads training lacking...not much to debate here..sidnote your statement about Goku training Gohan to be super saiyan making him better than Piccolo isnt fair bc Gohan was way way to young to bc a Super saiyan when Piccolo trained him, hell Super saiyan wasn't even a thing back then.
@@shootingreal5945 it doesnt matter what gohan thought or not. Goku's training is the one that got him to super saiyan not picoolo's. super saiyan was a thing back when goku turned into super saiyan. Its not like goku knew how to turn into a saiyan it just happened. gohan was there as well. People were dying around him and he got angry many times and yet never turned super saiyan because he wasnt trained strong enough yet. Goku made him break that limit. Gohan is obviously his actual son. So yeah what father would go extra hard but Goku did what he needed to do to get gohan to super saiyan and ssj2. Just putting tough and tough work doesnt always get the result. Goku has learned how to train from master roshi. He knows how to mix both toughness and fun to create results. and thus results do matter cuz goku was the one who got gohan to push beyond his limits. Age doesnt matter Goten turned ssj quite young as well. and Goten has same half blood saiyan
@@immortaldemon No to bc a super saiyan you need to be at a certain power level to begin with..Gohan was just beyond a toddler when the Raditz arc began my friend..If we switched out Goku training Gohan in the wilderness instead of Piccolo..news flash, Goku training isn't going to make Gohan a super saiyan back then bc guess what? Neither Goku or Gohan had the base power level required ( I believe it's 1000,000) to achieve that in the first place.
@@immortaldemon So is yours bc first of all..CHICHI WHO ISNT A SAIYAN TRAINED GOTEN, NOT GOKU..so your statements about creating a Super Saiyan has to be looked at with a raised eye bc chichi isn't a Saiyan and knows nothing about becoming a super Saiyan but she was Goten trainer so by your statements do we give a Human credit for super Saiyan transformation of Goten?
It's no Majin Vegeta or Ultra Ego but it is still badass. Vegeta has the best transformations. They progressively get more barbaric and violent. Ultra Ego is the coolest thing I have seen in DB history.
I love how it says stay tuned for scenes from the next episode but Funimation and Crunchyroll don’t have them on stream, dvd or Bluray they lost that footage.
Madison: "Really! Gohan is going to be Super Saiyan at this young age" Baris (with a Smirk): Babe he's gonna ascend even Super Saiyan, just watch along 😏
“ get them through the first 95 episodes and they’ll be hooked” …. Good thing my wife is already a fan, because when I try to get her into other shows, if she ain’t into it after the second episode she bounces . Props to her for sticking through HOURS of the show before she said “ yeah it’s i’m into this now” 😅
It's up there, but Vegeta's final atonement vs Majin Buu takes the cake for me "I do this for you, Bulma, Trunks, and yes, even you, Kakarot" is honestly goated. Vegeta's Final Flash vs. Perfect Cell is also up there. There's also vegeta vs. kid buu while Goku charges the spirit bomb moments. Not to mention all the entrances he had in the DBZ films.
Ive tried so many times to get my female cousin to watch DBZ but I think she was uninterested because of the filler episodes... I told her some episodes are unnecessary but once the action starts she would be hooked but she didn't give it much of a chance. So spread the word to your female friends and family about the show!
People call goku a bad dad because of how it’s a meme but if you actually know the creator said goku doesn’t have a sense of family he thinks of family as his companions because full blooded saiyan don’t usually have feelings for their family just their teammates they fight with
The amount of times ive seen this, its only just come to mh attention, maybe the reason 16 tells 18 to stay is because he can sense vegeta is on his way. As he has sensors for power levels never thought of that before.
I believe Goku went in once when he was a kid training at kamis lookout for the first time. They never talk about it until now but it's actually cool when you think about it.
3:57 in the Japanese version Piccolo says that if Cell becomes perfect then not even Goku can beat him. That's why Bulma's eyes widened like that. Also when she's talking to Tien she basically say's Goku is the strongest in the Universe and he will win for sure..Which is funny because it shows she has more faith in Goku than Vegeta who is on his way to fight Cell as they speak.
The fact that I randomly stumbled across you guy's literally a couple day's ago has been epic! Seeing y'alls reactions makes me feel like I'm seeing the episodes for the first time again. One of the best feelings ever!
Of course it's possible for Gohan to be stronger than Goku, during the Raditz fight Gohan was more than 3 times Stronger than Goku and he was four years old
Folks can relate to Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta AND Piccolo. You forgot Piccolo mate :) After you're done doing dbz, I recommend you two check out the dbz movies one by one and especially the last one called DBS Super Hero. HULK SMASH PICCOLO!
i love how smart Goku is in Z, talking about gravity and density in the air, and being all fatherly and serious, compared to Super when he cant even add 2 and 2 together lol, I hate how dumb they made him. Oh ye, Vegetas awesome
I used to listen to this vegeta theme when in the gym. If anyone likes theme's like that they should check someone out by the name of Saiyan Enigma. He makes awesome stuff. you should show her the abridged version of this meeting LOL This is peak dragonball z
By the way! Goku had to have use the time chamber from 16-19, but we dont know which- we just know that within the 3 years of training with Kami- he spent one month in the time chamber (not a full year because he couldn't handle it). Then after his training he fought Piccolo Jr aka our Piccolo!
Btw Vegeta would probably defeat Cell in his regular SSj form. SSj grade 2 is overkill. Thats why Trunks was wondering why Vegeta transformed immediately in the original dub.
@@colinnixon7739 actually no. Remember Cell will power up to fp and Trunks will be able to dodge and counter his attack and send him flying. Only after that Trunks will transform into grade 2. So its safe to say that SSj Vegeta would beat Cell. G2 Vegeta/Trunks > Semi-perfect Cell fp >= SSj Vegeta/Trunks > Semi-perfect Cell initial.
In the OG Japanese version. Cell quotes Vegeta when he 1st met Goku. “What have you come all this way for? Don’t tell me you’ve come to make jokes, such as you come to defeat me.”
I know this is super late, but the hyperbolic time chamber wasn't mentioned or show in original Dragon Ball. It's assumed to be part of the time Goku trained with Kami, but wasn't mentioned untill DBZ Cell Saga.
The message in the end was perfect, most of us have used this type of mindset in our everyday life. Thank you, I'm new to the channel, but keep up the good work!
Opening with "THE PIANO!" and closing in with such an interesting question. DB & DBZ was long road... we've learned to love so many characters and been taught so much! if my GF will be Mrs Briefs i'm still gonna watch DB with her :D

This was beautiful ❤️😎👍

But its too bad that the Cell saga honestly starts to kind of suck halfway through. The Cell games final saga is one of the most nonsensical parts of the Cell arc.
Super Vegeta the prince of All Saiyans💯💯
The cell saga man. What a saga seriously amazing
I’m so excited for what’s to come
Thank you for that story! It very beautiful 😎👍
My jaw dropped when I saw the thumbnail!! Let's gooo!!!! Can't wait for the next 5-10 episodes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love picking out the different themes for people in this show.. Like the one on the lookout is piccolo's theme (before trunks cries) then the hyperbolic time chamber music, and of course the super saiyan vegeta theme so good
4 days?! This is one of the best episodes in the whole tv show! Fuckkkk
Dang, such a long wait, was saving my food for this 1.... dang man
No spoilers I promise, but I just want to say the next episode is one of my top 5 favorite dbz episodes and I can’t wait for you guys to watch it!
@@shootingreal5945 goten got to ssj when he was kid
Your point is invalid.
For me it's Ultra Instinct like how Goku silently transforms into it and even enemies tremble in fear just by his silence.
your goddamn right i do what more do you expect from a prince
This is the best Vegeta has ever looked, his physique has never looked this good since then
I love the dialogue in this so much more than Kai’s dialogue. Falconer’s score soundtrack goes nicely with this scene
Vegeta's neck has had amazing character development.
I love how vegeta theme plays even in their intros whenever such vegata badass episodes come up😂💪🏾💪🏾
Vegetas neck has the best character development in anime😂😂😂
Madison was right Roshi does live close by, when Cell was giving his speech, he heard it
5:45 we were never shown him going in as a kid!
I love how it says stay tuned for scenes from the next episode but Funimation and Crunchyroll don’t have them on stream, dvd or Bluray they lost that footage.
Madison: "Really! Gohan is going to be Super Saiyan at this young age"
Baris (with a Smirk): Babe he's gonna ascend even Super Saiyan, just watch along 😏
“ get them through the first 95 episodes and they’ll be hooked” …. Good thing my wife is already a fan, because when I try to get her into other shows, if she ain’t into it after the second episode she bounces . Props to her for sticking through HOURS of the show before she said “ yeah it’s i’m into this now” 😅
It’s the battle cries as Vegeta is ascending, terrifying man 🔥
I'm living nostalgia through these reactions. I'm excited for what's to come. This is 🔥
Probably the best vegeta episode in dbz 🤘🏻🔥
Not even.
Nah. Vegeta vs fat buu is the best of all time for me and alot of ppl
@@Kingjames23666 Majin Vegeta vs Goku is the best
It's up there, but Vegeta's final atonement vs Majin Buu takes the cake for me "I do this for you, Bulma, Trunks, and yes, even you, Kakarot" is honestly goated. Vegeta's Final Flash vs. Perfect Cell is also up there. There's also vegeta vs. kid buu while Goku charges the spirit bomb moments. Not to mention all the entrances he had in the DBZ films.
@@danieldavidovsky518 the final flash against cell gives me goose bumps every single time without fail 🔥
Ive tried so many times to get my female cousin to watch DBZ but I think she was uninterested because of the filler episodes... I told her some episodes are unnecessary but once the action starts she would be hooked but she didn't give it much of a chance. So spread the word to your female friends and family about the show!
You did wrong. You should've have recommend her to watch DBZ, she gonna feel lost. DBZ is even better if you watch OG DB first.
Not even I saw all of dragonball... As a matter of fact, the very first time I was introduced to DBZ was the Frieza Saga on Toonami....lol
I didn't even know Dragonball existed back then. I was about 12 yrs old when I first started watching DBZ...lol
@@gamesmoney1025 Lol... that's ok. I think that's what it was like for most hardcore fans of the series.
"Niiiiice. Look how thick his neck is now." 😂
People call goku a bad dad because of how it’s a meme but if you actually know the creator said goku doesn’t have a sense of family he thinks of family as his companions because full blooded saiyan don’t usually have feelings for their family just their teammates they fight with
Vegeta is my favorite character in all of anime!

That’s Vegeta! Doesn’t waste any time getting in them guts! 😝
The amount of times ive seen this, its only just come to mh attention, maybe the reason 16 tells 18 to stay is because he can sense vegeta is on his way. As he has sensors for power levels never thought of that before.
Super Vegeta! Grade 2 Super Saiyan Revealed! The long line of saiyan evolutions has now.. begun.
Ever day turns into ever other now every other other
if i had food, drink and my laptop, i wouldnt give a damn if i spent 5 years in the time chamber.
😎❤️👍
Goku is a bit dumb at times too though.
@@Episode_13 Goku is naïve but he's not dumb.
He studied too.
@@Episode_13 he’s just not educated. But he’s a wise and astute man.
I prefer the every day episode format.
nooooo i gotta wait... what a tease
Goku in Z is definitely fine and (mostly) a good father figure. It's Super that ruined his fatherly-figure lol
I used to listen to this vegeta theme when in the gym. If anyone likes theme's like that they should check someone out by the name of Saiyan Enigma. He makes awesome stuff.
you should show her the abridged version of this meeting LOL
This is peak dragonball z
Same was great for lifting heavy.
@@John-996 It really was, especially on leg day.
Such a good epsoide and such good reactions to it. Goku is a good dad, he may make mistakes but overall he is a good dad. Every dad makes mistakes.
By the way! Goku had to have use the time chamber from 16-19, but we dont know which- we just know that within the 3 years of training with Kami- he spent one month in the time chamber (not a full year because he couldn't handle it).
Then after his training he fought Piccolo Jr aka our Piccolo!
The bells 🔔 of vegeta theme
Madison: how will we know when he changed
Vegeta getting absolutely fucking jacked
Btw Vegeta would probably defeat Cell in his regular SSj form. SSj grade 2 is overkill. Thats why Trunks was wondering why Vegeta transformed immediately in the original dub.
Actually they would be about even in his normal ssj form
@@colinnixon7739 actually no. Remember Cell will power up to fp and Trunks will be able to dodge and counter his attack and send him flying. Only after that Trunks will transform into grade 2. So its safe to say that SSj Vegeta would beat Cell.
G2 Vegeta/Trunks > Semi-perfect Cell fp >= SSj Vegeta/Trunks > Semi-perfect Cell initial.
I know baris and all of us can’t wait for that trunks monologue about the intense training he did in the hyperbolic time chamber
😂😂😂🤦🏿♂️
Baris, I would ask you to finally leave a longer video after the end of the episode, just so we can hear Madison's opinion, impressions !
In the OG Japanese version. Cell quotes Vegeta when he 1st met Goku. “What have you come all this way for? Don’t tell me you’ve come to make jokes, such as you come to defeat me.”
vegetal didnt ascend anything he was only a super Saiyan II grade. Gohan was the first to ascend past a super Saiyan
16:01 because of the cell games..
Vegeta and Gohan is my favorite characters
Vegeta 👍🏾
Gohan? 🤮
The music of this dub will always amaze me. Piccolo's theme is dripping with wisdom, which is the perfect encapsulation of his character 😌
I agree..we need more episodes sooner..I appreciate you all tho
Vegeta: I am the hype "
I know this is super late, but the hyperbolic time chamber wasn't mentioned or show in original Dragon Ball. It's assumed to be part of the time Goku trained with Kami, but wasn't mentioned untill DBZ Cell Saga.
If u noticed he was already super saiyan when he showed up..and then he transformed again.
Been waiting for this transformation! Its one of my top favorite episodes 🙉
Technically it's just a power up and not a true transformation
