If you're wondering why Goku didn't just teleport back to Earth after bringing Cell to King Kai's planet, that's because in the manga the moment Goku got Cell there, Cell instantly exploded. @baris Tee Anime Remember King Kai is a god not mortal, although he's a god he can still die. Also in the manga when Goku teleported to king kai's planet Cell blew up immediately, so he didn't have time to teleport away. The Anime just threw a little bit more into it. And even if he had a couple seconds he would've had to grab king kai and gang concentrate on a ki signature from earth to teleport away, simply not enough time.
10:53 Goku went to King Kai's planet because he needed an energy source to lock on to, and that was the place with the smallest amount of casualties, and, they're already in Other World, so death wouldn't change all that much for them.
The self control at the end to stop yourself from revealing spoilers… good job! Whenever there is a similar pairing of someone who has seen something and someone who is new to it, there will always be times where it can be ruined by spoilers being given in such moments so it is nice to watch these where one of you are completely going in blind each episode.
@@necrogon22 I know I could never do the same if I was in the same situation watching it with someone who has not yet seen it. You both making me feel like I'm watching Dragon Ball for the first time. Bless you guys. 🌌💝 I'm mexican, so I never heard this series in english before tho. Thanks a lot, for the whole experience.
I remember being 8 years old watching this episode. It messed with me big time cause Goku was one of those rare animated characters you never expected to sacrifice his life so honorably. And hearing Gohan screaming "Daddy!" is heartbreaking and haunting. Cell's return took me by surprise. I can recall getting frustrating shouting, "Why won't you die!" And that technique Cell used, it was Frieza's death beam, the same one used on Vegeta on Namek. But taking out Trunks, Cell did intentionally since he's the one fighter equal to Cell and doesn't want him interfering with his fight with Gohan. But if Cell was really smart, he would have taken out the Ace in the Hole, Gohan. But since this is Cell we're talking about, he probably wants to finish off Gohan on his own terms. But I suppose that's the price you pay for having Frieza's cells, mostly Frieza's pride he inherited. Next episode is bat shit crazy when it's revealed how Cell survived.
to be honest, there was a great point made that several z fighters can take on that imperfect version of cell. theyre all recharged from the senzu bean and continue yelling at gohan to finish it when they are fully capable of doing it themselves. goku in particular. in mere super saiyan form he kept up with perfect cell for a while. imperfect cell would stand no chance. not sure what happened there.
Goodbye my son. The Faulconer frieza's death music playing in the background, when I first so this it hit me so hard. I know Madison will be teary eyed after this scene that's for sure.
Btw I was thinking about this many times, why didn't Goku just teleport back fast ? But if you think about it, this scene happened really and I mean REALLY fast. In seconds and I think Goku felt guilty about killing King Kai as well, would have been a dick move teleport Cell there and leave 😂 Back in the day when I saw this for the first time I cried like a baby.
15:52;I think King Kai is a lesser deity, and not really a mortal. King Kai is not a mortal, but he's also mortal. The English language can be interesting sometimes. Being mortal means you can't escape death. Being mortal also means you aren't deity. Hey Madison please don't read this part. Deities can die too, if you remember Old Kai. Old Kai is a deity, he can't die of old age because most deities have longevity, but can still die if he's killed (or trade life). Deities call those who are not deities mortals, but deities can still die because they don't have immortality. (Zamasu kills all the deities in future Trunks' timeline)
Gohan proved he was indeed a saiyan. He had a chance to beat Cell but he got drunk on his power so Cell could self destruct. Goku as usual made the sacrifice play and what’s more since he was brought back to life already he can’t be wised back again. That moment when he said goodbye he thought deeply and looked at his friends and knew he had to do. But what more in the end it was for nothing Cell survived and now he’s stronger than ever now and he’s not playing anymore given he one-shot Trunks.
19:45 well he have piccolos cells which mean he can regenerate but his regeneration is on higher lvl then piccolo and he has gokus and vegetas cells which means after healing ( regenerating) from deadly injury he becomes stronger ( like all saiyans vegeta explains this in freeza saga) at the end he is in perfect form and has lightning around him which basicly says he reached ssj2 like gohan
To help answer Madison’s questions: From the manga perspective, Goku didn’t have time to leave with King Kai and company since it was instantaneous when he got to King Kai’s planet. With Cell on why he survived(I may be wrong since I don’t remember this entirely): Frieza and King Cold’s durability. Frieza did survive a planet’s explosion for example. If there’s any spec of cells left over, it will grow and Cell will regenerate due to Piccolo’s DNA and why every cell must be completely neutralized. If not, the cycle will continue and he’ll end up regenerating again(and it also makes sense to why Cell survived and was able to regenerate from the damage Goku inflicted with the Warp Kamehameha as much as I personally hated it 😂). Add insult to injury, he’ll be back stronger due to the Saiyan DNA via zenkai boosts.
What's so interesting about the Cell Games arc is how much it sets up the new status quo for the Buu saga. Introducing Satan, Chi Chi getting pregnant, Goku dying, 18 being rescued.
8:00 “what is this shit? Genetic?” As epic and unsurpassable as the original will always be, gotta give credit to TFS for humour with weight… Looking forward to eventual DBZA reactions to compliment the channel :)
Krillin really showed how good a friend/uncle he his to gohan even though he lost goku he also knew gohan did too and he needed the comfort of a friend in his sorrow and shame of letting cell blow up his dad.
So the important thing to notice about this scene with Cell and Gohan. Everyone keeps saying Gohan let the power go to his head, and he was torturing/toying with Cell. Piccolo even mentions it later in DBS telling Gohan he let the power go to his head during this scene and with a later villain in DBZ. But that’s actually wrong. Gohan didn’t let the power go to his head, at least not initially (and certainly not intentionally). When he first gets Cell to revert to his previous stage, he is trying to get Cell to give up, to realize he is completely outclassed, and to surrender. Piccolo mentions before Gohan ascends that Gohan isn’t like Goku, he doesn’t thirst for battle. Android 16 even says he is gentle, he doesn’t like to hurt others. At this point, Gohan doesn’t want to kill Cell, he wants him to surrender. Later when they try to get Gohan to finish it and he says “I think I’ll let him suffer”, it isn’t about torture. He wants Cell to suffer, in the realization that he is helpless against Gohan the same way the people of earth were helpless against Cell. He wants him to experience the same pain, fear, and suffering he inflicted upon others because he wants him to give up. It isn’t about power going to his head, he wants Cell to understand what he did from the other side of the mirror. Goku always showed mercy to his enemies and never killed unless he absolutely had to, and that’s the image Gohan has in his mind. He wants to be like his dad, he wants to be merciful and doesn’t want to kill Cell unless he has to, but he does want Cell to suffer and experience the same things he inflicted on others as a sort of punishment.
Gohan: “I did exactly what my dad and Vegeta always do! WHAT IS THIS SHIT?! GENETIC?!” Aw poor Madison, this one really got her hard. Also: Vegeta: “What do you think you’re doing, you put that RealDoll down?”
They could've won easily, but: -The androids took too long to leave (17's arrogance led to him being absorbed). -Vegeta allowed him to absorb 18 for a challenge. -Krillin destroyed the remote. - Goku gave him a senzu bean. -And Gohan didn't kill him when he had the chance. They took far too many risk with Cell and look at where they are now.😔
I realize now why goku didn't dip after taking cell. He wanted to take full responsibility of gohan since he had so much confidence in him and knew gohan is strong enough to save the earth even if he's not there. Once again showcasing how much faith he has in his son even after gohan neglecting the serious situation....damn it hits hard.
Gohan is showing everyone that sometimes when you snap like he did there is no listening it's not that he's lost in his power he's lost in his rage he went from not wanting to hurt sell to wanting to torture him that is a major mindset flip and I can speak from experience giving into that kind of Rage you do kind of act like Gohan's acting but you really don't care what anyone has to say you're doing what you want and it usually ends just like it did with Gohan and that is you lose something
Gohan wanted to live over Cell so that Cell would suffer more, and like any child he disobeyed his father to destroy him but like any normal parent Goku did not blame his son, but again sacrificed himself for the good of the whole universe which led to this for a son to lose his father and for his friends to lose Goku, I'm just sorry Madison, hang in there girl 🙂👊
Man, does Madison _always_ get this worked up in emotional moments in shows? 😆😛 Also, I don't know if this has been pointed out, but the whole brief conversation between Goku and King Kai didn't happen in the manga. In the manga, Goku just barely had enough time to apologize to King Kai before Cell exploded. This is in case some were wondering why Goku didn't just 'port King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory out before the explosion. Another thought: given that Goku needed to focus on a power signature before using Instant Transmission, he could've instead focused on the spirits of, say, King Piccolo, Raditz, or Frieza, and instead transmitted Cell to Hel ... um, HFIL.
Oh wow I didn’t realize we were at this point already. Man we’re so close to done the Cell Saga then it’s time for Buu 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Edit: actually first Saiyaman!!! Then Buu stuff
Goku's sacrifice was noble and this scene in particular will always be heartbreaking, and it shows how much love Gohan had for his dad. First time i saw that scene i was quiet and very disheartening
Awesome! Can’t wait for her to see the next couple episodes! Not sure if it was mentioned by another, but King Kai is “immortal” in the sense that he lives for an extremely long time (thousands of years) like all Kais… but his age is never mentioned that I am aware of… but like most things in this universe he can be destroyed by a more powerful force.
"Goku for the sake of your planet, your friends, your loved ones...you given yourself up....I will see you soon....my friend." " Hey King Kai what should I do with Cell!?" "AAAAAAUUUGGH!!"
The fact that cell lost his complete power and he still able to generate enough energy to destroy the Earth show's how powerful of a villain cell was when. And when Cell came back as Perfect Cell and the announcer said oh no Celll has come back stronger then ever and he's up for another round of evil. will Cell have the last laugh after all find out on the next action-packed episode of DRAGON BALL Z!!!! And then the music hits I love that ending.
Him: Stay silence but his facial expresions, slow eye blinking and deep swallowing tells everything. Her: The overacting and unnecesary constant talking ruins the whole video.
Cell came back because you actually have to destroy every cell in his body to kill him I think, it's why blowing his head off didn't work from Goku He got a Zenkai from coming back literally almost being destroyed and that Zenkai was enough to actually put evolve him into his Perfect Form without 18. In addition to all of that, he also gained power from his experience fighting Gohan SSJ2, which further increased his power above where he was. To add insult to injury, he also possesses Goku's DNA and latent ability to copy techniques after seeing them. So he saw Goku use instant transmission and copied the technique to return to Earth. Gohan should've listened, Goku and Vegeta are known for dragging fights out and even they knew to erase Cell as soon as they got an opportunity this time around. Gohan didn't learn from their mistakes, but how could he have? He's only a kid and SSJ2 is a transformation that makes you more bloodthirsty and violent. Brings out those Saiyan instincts.
I agree however despite the increase of power his power was nowhere near Gohan, Gohan only had trouble because of Goku "death" it open his eyes so even in ssj2 he was still holding back, although that arm is foreshadowing
DBZ was originally supposed to end with the cell saga. The forecaster 2 episodes ago didn't say for nothing. "Did the role of the earths' protector pass from father to son?" And here Goku dies. Unable to be brought back with the dragonballs. Truly cementing the ending with a firm, yes, to that question.
For people who aren’t familiar with how the dragon balls work, at the time when goku died he couldn’t be wished back since he had already been brought back once before (the rules being you can only be revived once) so when a lot of us watched this at our ages we cried thinking goku was really dead.
“Goodbye…my son.” That just rips your heart into a million pieces. Goku passed the torch and he expressed his love and pride for his son in just three words. And Gohan’s tearful cry of “DADDYYYY!” at the end just made it that much more heartbreaking. Imagine the pain of knowing that despite all of your power, how much you’ve progressed, you still couldn’t save someone you love. Tragic doesn’t even begin to describe it.

He's been doing it for 188 episodes now, he's a pro a not spoiling anything whilst still making conversation
@@necrogon22 I know I could never do the same if I was in the same situation watching it with someone who has not yet seen it. Even if I tried to hold it in, I would slip up eventually and either answer the question directly or fail to hide my expression which would give away the spoilers or give hints to certain things. I started watching and subscribed at around the Freiza saga and have enjoyed the videos since then. ^^
8:54 she knew😢
*I Remember When I First Watched This As A Kid I Felt Devastated But Happy That The Gohan We Watched Grow Up Surpassed His Father🥲*
Now this is one of my favorite drawn episodes and the emotions you really feel the sadness of Goku's sacrifice
his gf during a emotional scene : 👁👄👁
him : 😐
“I don’t want him to die.” Had she styli not realized that death has no consequence in Dragon Ball? This is the second time Goku dies.
You both making me feel like I'm watching Dragon Ball for the first time.
Bless you guys. 🌌💝
I'm mexican, so I never heard this series in english before tho. Thanks a lot, for the whole experience.
❤️😎👍👍
"Can you promise me that we'll... Grow old together?" - Krillin
This episode is just so intense, Cell turning into a bomb, Goku's sacrifice, Cell's return and Trunks death, everything just goes so wrong
One of the most touching moments in DBZ
My wife was the same, all the time asking me stuff, haha, while me : 😶
Now Gohan realizes he has given himself to his own pride and arrogance, and it's just to late to go back, he will regret this eventually.
The music in this scene is just out of this world
Simply amazing
Also Goku probably would be able to comeback but he chose not to I believe
Only the Namek dragonballs ur able to bring him back since earth dragonballs won't grant that wish cuz goku already been wish back once before.
Selfish Goku as usual
to be honest, there was a great point made that several z fighters can take on that imperfect version of cell. theyre all recharged from the senzu bean and continue yelling at gohan to finish it when they are fully capable of doing it themselves. goku in particular. in mere super saiyan form he kept up with perfect cell for a while. imperfect cell would stand no chance. not sure what happened there.
Literal goosebumps watching this episode, and Ive watched this show 10+ times. I love this show
Goodbye my son.
As soon as he touched Cell he exploded but the instant transmission allowed Goku to get to another destination before that happened.
He didn't want to, on some selfish crap
I remember seeing this scene for the first time. I laughed by ass off when he teleported to King Kai's place. Goku did him dirty 🤣
"That's right, cry." That delivery is hilarious 😂
19:45 well he have piccolos cells which mean he can regenerate but his regeneration is on higher lvl then piccolo and he has gokus and vegetas cells which means after healing ( regenerating) from deadly injury he becomes stronger ( like all saiyans vegeta explains this in freeza saga) at the end he is in perfect form and has lightning around him which basicly says he reached ssj2 like gohan
Theres so much that madison predicted during these episodes. Her instincts are spot on!
To help answer Madison’s questions:
From the manga perspective, Goku didn’t have time to leave with King Kai and company since it was instantaneous when he got to King Kai’s planet.
I'm lost for words during this episode...it's been intense, you guys will always be my favorite reactors!
❤️
That look on bulma's face is the fear of losing the one person who's been like a little brother to her.
This hits different when you're a dad. I'd gladly die for my son.
What's so interesting about the Cell Games arc is how much it sets up the new status quo for the Buu saga. Introducing Satan, Chi Chi getting pregnant, Goku dying, 18 being rescued.
The most savage pause yet 😂 what’s going through your head! I’m not crying 😢 your crying 😢
8:00 “what is this shit? Genetic?”
As epic and unsurpassable as the original will always be, gotta give credit to TFS for humour with weight…
Looking forward to eventual DBZA reactions to compliment the channel :)
Such A great Episode really shows the Impact of Gohan not finishing cell when he Had the chance.
Krillin really showed how good a friend/uncle he his to gohan even though he lost goku he also knew gohan did too and he needed the comfort of a friend in his sorrow and shame of letting cell blow up his dad.
For me, what got me the most when Gohan screamed, "DADDYYYYYYYY!!!" after Goku's sacrifice.
This gets me every single time, no matter how many times I have seen it.
No matter how many times I watch this episode it never gets old.
Gohan: “I did exactly what my dad and Vegeta always do! WHAT IS THIS SHIT?! GENETIC?!”
Aw poor Madison, this one really got her hard.
Also:
Vegeta: “What do you think you’re doing, you put that RealDoll down?”
Cell: BOY!!!!! 😠😡🤬
Gohan: 😒 ⚡️
🤣🤣🤣
They could've won easily, but:
-The androids took too long to leave (17's arrogance led to him being absorbed).
-Vegeta allowed him to absorb 18 for a challenge.
-Krillin destroyed the remote.
- Goku gave him a senzu bean.
-And Gohan didn't kill him when he had the chance.
They took far too many risk with Cell and look at where they are now.😔
@Devil Mario Productions I don't think he was strong enough at that point.
Also, Trunks could've killed Cell or 18
I realize now why goku didn't dip after taking cell. He wanted to take full responsibility of gohan since he had so much confidence in him and knew gohan is strong enough to save the earth even if he's not there. Once again showcasing how much faith he has in his son even after gohan neglecting the serious situation....damn it hits hard.
No it’s just filler inside the episode. In the manga he teleports to king kais planet and cell blows up without that much waiting
oh ok@@MrDdeded
Gohan is showing everyone that sometimes when you snap like he did there is no listening it's not that he's lost in his power he's lost in his rage he went from not wanting to hurt sell to wanting to torture him that is a major mindset flip and I can speak from experience giving into that kind of Rage you do kind of act like Gohan's acting but you really don't care what anyone has to say you're doing what you want and it usually ends just like it did with Gohan and that is you lose something
Well, it was Cell's fault.
I watched this when it first came out. And til this day when I see this. I cry. This is when real men cry
If this was Dragonball Super:
Piccolo: “Gohan! finish him off!!”
Goku: **jumps in** Cell!!
Cell: huh?
Goku: KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
Also, I don't know if this has been pointed out, but the whole brief conversation between Goku and King Kai didn't happen in the manga.
Man we’re so close to done the Cell Saga then it’s time for Buu 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Edit: actually first Saiyaman!!! Then Buu stuff
The greatest episode in anime history. Goku dead, dumbshit gohan dumbfounded and the greatest warrior making a perfect comeback.
I’ve been waiting to see y’all’s reaction
Farewell goku
Goku's sacrifice was noble and this scene in particular will always be heartbreaking, and it shows how much love Gohan had for his dad. First time i saw that scene i was quiet and very disheartening
Awesome! Can’t wait for her to see the next couple episodes!
Not sure if it was mentioned by another, but King Kai is “immortal” in the sense that he lives for an extremely long time (thousands of years) like all Kais… but his age is never mentioned that I am aware of… but like most things in this universe he can be destroyed by a more powerful force.
This episode and later finial atonement are the saddest in the whole show
"Goku for the sake of your planet, your friends, your loved ones...you given yourself up....I will see you soon....my friend."
" Hey King Kai what should I do with Cell!?"
"AAAAAAUUUGGH!!"
Her: The overacting and unnecesary constant talking ruins the whole video.
ik lol she never shuts up
Cell came back because you actually have to destroy every cell in his body to kill him I think, it's why blowing his head off didn't work from Goku
He got a Zenkai from coming back literally almost being destroyed and that Zenkai was enough to actually put evolve him into his Perfect Form without 18.
Vegeta is going to go mental if Trunks dies
It always sucks to see Goku die although it's kinda neat to see what he does when he is dead. Poor Gohan but his job isn't done yet.
Man... I see myself in Madison. The rollercoaster of emotions.
19:06 😂”he came back from the future?”
Like With what?
Cell has returned....and back in his PERFECT form even when he lost Android 18!
The absurd amount of plots holes they used to bring cell back is embarrassing BUT the moments after are so epic I'll forgive it 😂
For people who aren’t familiar with how the dragon balls work, at the time when goku died he couldn’t be wished back since he had already been brought back once before (the rules being you can only be revived once) so when a lot of us watched this at our ages we cried thinking goku was really dead.
“Goodbye…my son.”
That just rips your heart into a million pieces.
Love how y’all genuinely enjoy this 😊
Master Roshi's "hmm" always cracks me up for some reason.
I love how he looks at her to see her reaction and she is like “why are you looking at me?”
