If you havent had one (or two) of those "sneaky" waves come up and say "hello" you havent had enough time on the water. You did a good job, well handled.
as an ex stoker RAN out 33 years i still long for the sea/ocean and often even dream of it..... you brother are living the dream.... good for you keep it goin
Waves never look as big on video, nothing like a wakeup call just to remind you who's boss on the water. Just found your cannel so will be on the lookout for next, Cheers from across the ditch in NZ
Thanks, great to see this and good story of a solo leg. I sail in gippsland lakes and havent ventured out over the lakes entrance bar yet, and i think your footage confirms why !!
I live in Washington, USA. I so enjoy seeing sailing adventures for the normal man. We are in the middle of our sloppy wet winter here in the Pacific Northwest. I lonely look at my boat out back under its winter cover, spring fishing is only 3 months away
Norm, great to see you staying out there, awesome bar crossing mate, bit of salt water on deck, nothing Peggy Anne and yourself have a problem handling, your one top Captain my friend👍
Thanks Norm great video, any chance of showing us amateur booties on how use the Marian radio when coming into a new Harbour and looking for a morning or tiring up to a wharf
Looks like a hell of a fun life my friend. As my other Australian channel I watch says. "Good on ya mate" ironically enough I typed this watching the end. Then you said the same! Lolol. Good stuff
Enjoyed watching this video. Even got myself a brew when you put the jug on😀 I have had a couple of those moments in my 19ft power boat crossing the South Passage bar up here in Qld, not fun at all.
10th generation italian fisherman takes a tinny out down south off portland chasing tuna. That hit you had is basically compares to what he sits in for 8-10hrs at a time. Think your vessel is very capable. Good luck
Only just started watching your videos and enjoying them. I don't know much about what type and size of your boat you have but it looks well made from what I've seen so far. Anyway stay safe and enjoy. I'm in old South Wales in the UK, and we get 13m tides in Cardiff, but the water is not as clean as what you got 🤣
Yep the old girl is pretty well built. Not too flash, but does the job. Nothing like 13m tides on this coast Richard and I like the clear water. Thanks for commenting Dude.
Thank you for another great video, hey where you guys at Mooloolaba a few years ago running how to sail courses? I remember seeing a vessel similar to yours up this way, I love your boat. Cheers mick
For sure Allen. I guess it shows just how unpredictable they can sometimes be.Trying to get somewhere with a good weather window. A long single handed trip. Maybe another week to wait for conditions. Lots to weigh up.
Would love her to be dude, but it is a very full event this year and no space. I'll be there in a voluntary role as dock master. This means I get to tie lots of boats up. Should be a great show.
I absolutely LOVE your Vessel ,, can you please tell me the make/model/builder ? The height of the deck rails and the Furler location , yea I love your boat and think I might have to have me one of those. Thanks !
Thanks dude. She is a beautiful girl. Hulls built by Nustar in Queensland (Not available now). Rest built by me. Height of bulwarks 800mm or 32" (beam) 1m or 40" (bows)
Love all your vids! I think a lot of your viewers are living vicariously through your adventures (probably why porn accounts for >30% of all internet traffic). A video on how the average punter achieve what you have (your boat conversion, off the shelf liveaboard options that you approve of) would have huge appeal! Enviously yours, CJO
@@MotorSailingforOldDudes Yeah Bar Croosing do that. You have to be on your game on every one. The sea is always bigger than any vessel. Still you pulled it off mate. Lessons learned. May next time your wife can be the spotter for the leads while you keep your eyes on the sea. Good on ya for taking up this life style. I'll be right behind you in a few years. Kiaoa.
Thought that might be the case…. absolutely perfect practical vessel. All the best dude.
Enjoyed the journey. Thanks again for bringing us along
No problems dude.
Thanks for watching.
If you havent had one (or two) of those "sneaky" waves come up and say "hello" you havent had enough time on the water. You did a good job, well handled.
I guess Phil. Peggy Anne shouldered it out the way, but had to change the undies just after dude.
So true had an 8 fttr come up and break over the bow in my Grady it'll wake you up rite quick
Dolphins always make a great video...and bring up the sense of self.
Yep. Always good to see them. Enjoy the way they watch you.
You are totaly awesome, I have watched every episode now i thick but love every story. Great content. Tim
Glad you like them Dudes and thanks so much for watching. I think the quality has got better as I went along.

Thanks dudes. Always look bigger in real life. And she is always the boss.
Excellent. Thank you Norm.I studied this in infinite detail in anticipation of my trip from Port Lincoln to Sydney.
Thanks Richard. Safe travels dude.
Wow Norm, heart in mouth moment followed by pants replacement! Glad you got through ok. Lovely to see the family looking after you
Yep dude. and catching up with the family was special.
Thanks, great to see this and good story of a solo leg. I sail in gippsland lakes and havent ventured out over the lakes entrance bar yet, and i think your footage confirms why !!
Yeah Dean. It can be nasty, but in good weather it's not to hard.

Thanks for the comment Don. Summer won't be far away for you.

I'll try to do a bit of it in future. Just editing one now using fender boards. Thanks for the comments.
nice boat. great video id love to do something like that. Stay safe out there mate. thanks for the video it was great
Thanks Gary, It's a great life dude.
Very relaxing and enjoyable 👌 to watch .

You got her back in line pretty quickly for an old dude 😅 A younger bloke might have panicked, turned with the wave, prop cavitation, lost steerage…….
Yep. Tightened the sphincter somewhat though.
wow soo much angle to the wave , what were you thinking??
Yeah Dude. Not concentrating. It was a nasty one too.
@@MotorSailingforOldDudes you probably won't be doing that again too soon 😅
Great job as usual Norm .
Thanks Peter.

Glad you enjoyed it. Never tried the South Passage dude.
Great fish and chips at San Remo.
Oh yeah!

Don't think I'd like to have done it in a tinny dude.

LOVED YOUR DAUGHTER AND GRANDCHILDREN>
Yep good Kids dude.
Wilsons Prom actually the southern most tip of the Australian mainland.
It is. Did I say Southern most tip of Australia? Bugger. Forgot about my mates in Tassie. Sorry Dudes
@@MotorSailingforOldDudes the confusion is the lighthouse is at South East Point but the southernmost point is a bit to the West at South Point ;)

Ran a few seminars on cruising around then.
Lakes Entrance Bar can be unpredictable at times, as can all bar crossing, they need respect as you have crossed many in your time
For sure Allen. I guess it shows just how unpredictable they can sometimes be.Trying to get somewhere with a good weather window. A long single handed trip. Maybe another week to wait for conditions.

Great video Norm! Will Peggy Anne be on show at the wooden boat show?

Sounds like you rattled some wine bottles on that one.
Think it was rum dude.
What did one wave say to another when they met ?
Nothing they just waved 🖐️
Hmmm.
Be good if navionics had a reverse line instead of only forward.. help stay in the leads heading out.
Yep. There usually is a line on Navionics, but not on the lakes bar.
Just wish you showed bit more of the boat and sails ⛵ full of winds and ...
Plenty of vids with that on the channel dude.
goes to show, bananas on a boat are fine lol
Yep. As long as you eat em within a week.

You turned Righ too soon. That bar goes out 250m out from the Mouth.. You were lucky you didn't flip.
Yep was looking for the leads when it snuck up on me dude.

Falling in love with your boat ……. Any chance you would like to sell, I would be very interested.
Jacob ….Batemans bay
Sorry Dude. You'll have to join the que when I slip the lines and plot that final course.
That's just called sailing, you powerboaters aren't used to that.
Yeah right.
Just giving you a hard time, love your videos. I've subscribed.
