- For today's review we're looking at Demon's Souls, developed for the PS3 in 2009 and remade for the PS5 in 2020, the debut of Fromsoftware's now iconic Souls style gameplay, but is it any good?

I recently bought this gem again at a Goodwill equivalent here in my country for €3,00 (loose disc) and started playing it last weekend. Never finished this game originally because of the high difficulty, but really wanted to try again.
Had such a wonderful time in the first area. Had to try multiple times to get through it, but was always able to get back to my blood stain and reclaim my collected souls. Walked away with a victory and 6500+ souls in my pocket.
This weekend I'll continue my journey. Wish me luck! 🤞

This is one of those games I've been interested in playing for a while (plus, watching videos about how easy it is to break the remake got me intrigued). Once I get through Dark Souls (again, it's on my to-do list), I may well emulate this one. Even if it's not as good, it's still a big part of gaming history.
I'd actually say in terms of favourites, this one is up there with DS1, Bloodborne, and Sekiro. I'm actually still playing it because I want to find all the secret NPCs and side quests, currently on new game +5. it really is the easiest, though unfortunately the gold coin doesnt appear in the original so you can't glitch the luck stat like in the remake
wait what the hell was I doing 3 weeks ago to not get a notification saying you uploaded for heck sake, well anyway glad NyarTheGamer mentioned you I would of missed this video, loved the singing at the start really fits this damn crazy hard game, I think I never completed it because of the rage and the damn ladders lol, wait but me dying a lot makes me cry a lot so I do both in this game, you now what some of these bosses I don't remember maybe its because I didn't make it that far lol, mate after watching this might have to play it again you made it sound a bit more easier, just a bit doe lol.
Amazing start with that song! But this is one of the most in-depth reviews I have ever seen. Covering from tutorial to all boss fights! This is amazing! 😃

I'm one of those gamers who still plays games on PS2 & PS3 systems. Due to living in a small country, money can be an issue & because of that I really can't afford the newest & latest hardware. And if the new console doesn't impress me, then I'm in no rush buying it. I bought a PS3 when PS4 first launched & I've been a happy camper since then. I can play games on PS3 that I can't normally play on my current laptop that doesn't have the necessary equipment to run certain games like Batman Arkham City, GTA 5, Alien Isolation as examples. I do have a Nintendo Switch as my only new console, but that's because I wanted a hand held console to use when I go on trips or something. But unlike the PS2 or PS3, the game library for the Switch isn't as huge as it is for those consoles. I might try getting Demon's Souls for the PS3, but I'm not a huge Souls fan, but I might one day give Demon's Souls a shot.
Lol, the only things DS did better were expanding weapons, the character's creation, the interconnected world and the lore. The difficulty increasement depends on the ppl who came before Miyazaki's philosophy changed or after... But from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls there were things we lost from the gameplay.

• You need to unlock an enemy on to be able to run in Dark Souls, in Demon's Souls, you can run while locking an enemy on

So from the sounds of it, the bosses go from first to last, hard to easiest?
I mean, shouldn't it be the other way around?
Can you imagine if Mario fought a tough Bowser and then at the end, he rolled over and wanted his tummy tickled?
Unfortunately yeah, most of the harder bosses for me were near the start of middle of the game, whereas the last few fights should have been harder for their place in the late game! Happy holidays Ian :)
Fantastic work. Phalanx looks very cool. I liked Phalanx from Painted World of Ariamis... and the bloke with the traffic cone on his head from the same area!

Personally for me. I find Demon’s Souls my favorite to come back to of the souls games. And, in my opinion, beats Dark Souls because at least Demon’s Souls endgame isn’t unfinished garbage
Just playing the remake. I'm was surprised how easy it is . I'm still dying but compared to Bloodborne it's really easy. Both games you can op but demon souls a lot sooner just level up enuff.
Try it on PS3, with frame drops it's not that easy;]
Game was playable on PS3 and only the bosses were easy but the whole level design takes a lot more patience than dark souls with work tendencies there annoying hard
I don’t have my hands on a ps5 either. I decided to pick up demons souls on ps3 just to play the original first. Hope I like it, huge fan of bloodbourne and DS3

Hey I’m really interested in playing demon souls what weapons did you use?
I mainly just go with longswords in most souls games because they're a good balance of speed and power :)

I'm a new Souls player, deciding what's better to play next after Dark Souls. This or Dark Souls 2.
Demons Souls is far easier and the world feel more interesting, but Dark Souls 2 isn't a bad game, certainly not as bad as some fans make out :)

the original is way better i played both a lot and the original is the one that i always go back to
Both are good... just some changes in the remake are questionable.
Sometimes they're small details and sometimes noticeable on the spot.
And FROM games are all about details - means some changes feels unnecessary.
Have both for the PS3 and PS5.
PS3 Original sticks out more due to the atmosphere and sound design and music.
PS5 looks amazing, but too clean imo, if that makes sense. Major points on the loading speed though.
Funniest thing about this list for me is that I have never died to Phalanx, and I think maneaters beat me once, but flame lurker DESTROYED me!! I do hate the spider though. Its just a very lame fight.
Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't rate Armor Spider's quality, and yeah Flamelurker seems to be near the top of most peoples hardest boss list for Demons Souls, and I'd say it absolutely deserves to be there, I just remember to load up on grasses before I even think about taking it on! The remake is great, but I sure wish they'd rerelease the original on some platform. It has that classic Fromsoft weirdness that Bluepoint missed the mark on in a lot of areas. They did an amazing job but all you have to do is look at the fat minister to see what I mean. Hell I'd even take streaming. I think it's on PS Now in Japan but the Atlus rights crap has made it not available in other regions. 4 years ago I bought a used PS3 to play it on and it broke the second day I owned it and I decided that I couldn't buy two consoles for one game, even Demon's Souls. I hoped the remake would be definitive but it's just not, even though it's beyond awesome in it's own way. I will say that it made the purchase of a PS5 a lot easier to stomach, especially when the mysterious door saga was playing out.

Still my favorite soulsborne of all time.
I'd say Dark Souls just makes it ahead for me just for the better connected world and quality of life improvements, but Demon's is a close second :)
This is the only From Soft game I've actually finished, all the others just got boring before I could reach the end, except for Sekiro which I just thought was rubbish
I've seen a lot of fromsoft fans say the same about sekiro, including the person that got me into dark souls in the first place. hopefully Elden Ring will pull it back towards more of what fans want
Sekiro isn't rubbish it's just not really the same type of game.
miyazaki never made anything remotly as good as demon souls. its the best souls game

Dark souls is feels downgraded compared to Demons souls
Could be that the movement is better than some of the Soulsborne games.
