The Madras High Court has decided to keep all its five gates closed from 8 p.m. on Saturday to 8 p.m. on Sunday and not allow access to the general public during that period of time. It is an annual exercise undertaken to assert the right of the court over its property and prevent people from claiming easementary right of way.

பெரியார் வந்த பிறகு தான் கோவணம் கண்டு பிடித்ததாக நிச்சயமாக யாரும் சொல்ல முடியாது. சுயமரியாதை இயக்கம் காலங்காலமாக இருந்து வருகிறதை மங்கிய காரணமாக அதனைப் புத்தாக்கம் செய்தார் என்ற கணக்கில் எடுத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். பெரியார் என்று அவரைப் பாராட்டிய மக்கள் இருந்ததைக் கண்டு மற்றவர்கள் கவலைப்பட வேண்டிய அவசியம் இல்லை. இந்த ஈரோட்டுக் கிழவன் தனது அப்பாவின் விருப்பத்துக்கு ஏற்ப தனது குடும்பத்தின் தொழிலான வியாபாரம் செய்து கொண்டு நல்ல முறையில் ஒரு ஜமீன் வாழ்க்கை வாழ வேண்டிய மனிதன் ஏன் இந்த மாதிரி ஒரு பொதுவாழ்வில் ஈடுபட்டு இன்று வரை நாயினும் கீழாக பேசும் நிலைக்கு வந்து விட்டதை பார்த்தால் அது ஒரு போதும் பொதுவாழ்வில் ஈடுபட்டு வீணாக போகக் கூடாது என்ற பாடம் சொல்லிக் கொடுத்துள்ளதாகத் தான் பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

இதேபோலவே வால்பாறை பகுதியில் உள்ள ஒரு தனிப்பட்ட தேயிலை தோட்டம் வழியாக அரசு பாதையின் தொடர்ச்சியாக அனைத்து வகையான பயணம் செய்து வருகிறதை வருடம்தோறும் ஓர் நாள் பூரணமாக அடைத்து வைத்து விட்டு 24 மணி இடைவெளி விட்டு மறுபடியும் பயணம் செய்திட அனுமதிக்கும் வகையில் இன்று வரை நடைமுறையில் உள்ளது. அந்த ஓர் நாள் பயணமாக செல்லும் பழக்கம் இல்லை என்ற வகைப்பாட்டில் காலங்காலமாக பயணம் செய்து கொண்டு வந்தோம் என சொல்ல முடியாதது தான் இந்த தனியுரிமை பாதுகாக்கப்படுவதாக உள்ளது.
