Kudos for this, Trogly: "Guitar isn't all about money, sometimes it's just what you like, having the right guitar that inspires you to play is musical enjoyment that's worth more than money."
Nicely played demo, clearly the Blasted Blue Strat inspires you. Great pickups!

I had after 30 years of playing stopped and sold all my gear. A few years later i walked in a music store saw a strat identical to this one hanging on a wall. two days later i bought a custom shop strat and replaced all my gear. I gotta pay respect to these sandblasted models and offer thanks for inspiring me to play again.

I think TH-cam ate my comment. I have one of the Sweetwater Sandblasted Denim Blue Telecasters. It's a really stunning guitar to look at, has a really unique feel as well. I think mine is also three pieces, but the seams are way more uniform with the grain of the wood. I'm glad that it plays and sounds great on top of being a really special guitar to look at. I was shocked when mine arrived in the cheapest gig bag I've ever seen for a guitar that cost more than $1k.

I bought one of the Sweetwater American Performer Strats as well, 2019 model in a clear finish and it had a rosewood fretboard. They came equipped with the Yosemite pickups which I also liked, that headstock was really the only attribute I disliked. It played and sounded great, my buddy wanted it so I sold it to him and I sometimes regret it I have got say.

Just FYI, it has a lot of characteristics of an American Ultra….. the logo, locking tuners, pop in tremelo with no tip, and the offset heel joint.
And the fretwork is consistent with an Ultra!! Love it!!!

Thank you for converting "Final Thoughts" to the "Fore Thoughts"! I agree with that philosophy, since I just pulled the pin and bought my latest acoustic from Sweetwater (with a bag of thank you candy I hope), a B-stock Breedlove Jeff Bridges Organic Concert, after trying out the B-stock non-signature version (same woods) gifted to my son in law, who found these concert body guitars (gave him a Taylor Academy 12e, too) much easier and more comfortable to play than his gloss dreadnought. The open pore finish sounds so open and warm, it's hard to resist! Feel the Force! Thanks, Trogly and Happy Easter to all!
(We had two guitars, a bass, and sax (no violins) among the praise band this morning. Haven't heard the joke for awhile, but among the sound techs and musicians we'll share the "sax and violins and rock and roll" on occasion.") First Presbyterian Church of Coeur d'Alene...

I just play the thing to make noises on it...it's a tool to me. I know people get excited about guitars and stuff..but they are just tools to help you express yourself. IMO..you guys will have your own opinions about it!

Those stagered pole pieces are usually seen in older strats that came with 7.5 Inch radius, it's Kind of strange in new Stratocasters

    • @patrickfoster4586
      @patrickfoster4586 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

It has nothing to do with the neck radius; but rather they were designed to bring the poles closer on the strings with the least magnetic output to even out the sound. Those are Custom 50's so they are the same design as the late 1950's pick ups with the staggered poles. Which is why they sound so incredible. I've got a Vintage Series '62 Reissue Strat built in 1982 with staggered poles pieces so I'm biased because I believe my Strat is one of the best sounding guitars ever made.

Sometimes you just find a guitar that meshes perfectly with you. I’ve got an old LTD 400 I picked up for 275$ years ago. I don’t even know why I bought it. It was online so I didn’t get a chance to try it first. And I’ve got Gibson custom shop guitars and pretty expensive ESP’s . So I didn’t really need to buy a 300$ guitar. Lol. But it just seemed like a good deal. It’s an eclipse model with Floyd Rose and came with hardcase. I guess I figured I could probably sell it for a profit or something. But it’s still with me. Sits right next to my guitars that costs 20x more. Its just a great playing guitar and sounds absolutely wicked. Any time I feel like I should just sell it, I pick it up and play it and that feeling goes away quick. So it’s a keeper. Sometimes you just can’t put a price on certain things.

I have been playing guitar for 40 years. I understand what it's like to become attached to a certain guitar. My number one is a 1980 Stratocaster. I would play this guitar and I would probably love it. I prefer the small headstock too. I own 31 guitars. I have a couple fenders with big headstocks, and a couple with a small headstocks. My number one has a small headstock. I prefer a small headstock to tell you the truth. Although it's not that important to me?..... I prefer to have a small headstock on my Stratocaster. I don't know why it's just the way that my brain is wired. One of my favorite guitars has a big headstock. But it's not my number one. My number one is wood grain with a tortoiseshell pickguard. Has a small headstock. It's what I became a good guitar player on. Maybe it's a type of mental attachment? Maybe I don't understand why? It really doesn't matter to me. I like all guitars and I collect them. But I prefer small headstocks on fenders even though I have many with big head stocks, and I have just as many with small head stocks.

American deluxe. Deluxe alone implies Mexican made, while this is the USA equivalent. You had standard and American standard, just like you had deluxe and American deluxe. Personally, I think the deluxe line is the best value overall from Fender. They have premium, often USA parts, but are assembled in Mexico and therefore have a smaller price than one might originally assume based on specs alone.

I remember seeing a few of these in my local music store several years back. I thought they were super cool then and still cool today.

One day I will find a Strat for me. Had 2 opportunities to buy one but passed like a dummy on both one was a MIM Strat that was only 200 dollars but I loved the way it felt, played and sounded. The second was a 87 MIJ Strat in a Gun Metal Grey finish but I could not justify buying it to my wife since I bought a White Falcon the day before haha

I respect the hustle, every guitar that needs to turn a big profit is a “guys I’m not selling this unless you pay me way more than you should” guitar. Reverse psychology at its finest.

Great guitar series and a good episode Trogly. Do you know about the Fender Rustic Ash series? I do own a Strat since 2013 and absolutely love it!

Now that is a sharp and unique body! Looks like unpolished granite.

Cool strat. I could definitely see an ash topped sandblasted LP custom being cool. Jackson has a black sandblasted top Kelly with binding I could see that look working on a LP custom great.

Weird. They switched from the saddles this guitar has around 2007 back to the bent steel saddles, yet this has the old block saddles still.

Okay, here's an obscure one for you. Check out GH's strat used during his Bangladesh concert. That could be sand blasted or just a rough chemical strip. No one ever discusses this guitar. Pretty cool guitar. Cheers.

Hi Austin, that guitar " Blue Jean Baby " defiantly has that vibe going on, I like it thanks for sharing it with us... When you said it it makes you want to play guitar I totally get it, I can relate to that grove big time. I've been out of town { the boarder sucks' and us tax payers are getting ripped off } lots of pics. Back home now wasn't able to tune in always on the move, missed your channel and sleep... great video...
