I'm an older player in wow and the anger and bad behavior of some players when you do something not fast enough in dungeons is so sad. Because of that bad behavior of other players I have always been insecure and afraid to participate in dungeons. I really like the follower dungeon concept to play dungeons, in order to be able to continue in the Dragonflight campaign. With the follower dungeon concept I can proceed with the campaign. Do dungeons on my own terms and in my own pace. Can't wait when the patch comes out for this.
My mother feels the same way.
This sounds like an AI generated review for a product on Amazon
Honestly I’m the same way, I want to enjoy gaming not get yelled out if I’m not doing enough damage or whatever.
That’s why I don’t play pvp in a lot of games because I cannot stand when people are rude for no reason. It is a game after all
@pauldacon828 the 25 people who agreed with him must be AI too. 😂😂
As someone who's been playing WoW for 18yrs and who earned several "Ahead of the Curve" achievements, I still fully understand that.
It's gotten to the point where I simply no longer go into PUG dungeons or raids unless I feel like I need to. It's only bearable in Guild or with close friends.
The terrible part is how some players go in Normal difficulty expecting everyone else to know Mythic difficulty tactics.
This leads to issues for new players. As a Guide, you have no idea how many times I've seen new players express how bad their experiences in LFG are, how they're kicked for not knowing the tactics or for not perfectly knowing how to play their class or spec.
Once Dragonflight becomes the new default 10 to 70 leveling expansion, this feature will FINALLY fix this issue for new players, who will be free to learn the basics. I only hope that it will be expanded to LFR as well, at one point, and to the Normal dungeons of older expansions. Many new players plainly refuse to be told by Blizzard "start by this new expansion first", they want to start with the oldest content to understand WoW's story in chronological order (which Blizzard makes REALLY hard to do just with Cataclysm being a thing).
Im a HUGE fan of this. I'm disabled and can't play wow the way it is designed so I dont get to see a lot of content. This is going to be HUGE for me. :D
I'm happy for you! Have fun playing!
Very happy for you, i hope you have fun playing this way
I know how you feel. I am deaf so voice chat in the game is never going to happen. I hadn't even done a Dragonflight dungeon till they launched follower dungeons on the PTR! I can't rate them highly enough. I recommend you download the latest PTR and give them a go!
Same and when crafting recipes, progression, campaign, or temporary available mounts are behind that wall, i am further missing out on content I could do. Some I do on normal solo at the end of the expansion or 2 expansions later or never. I still paid epic version and sub in cash! I couldn't choose Bastion in DF because of a dungeon in the campaign. Pls have a lfr AI version too for older raids of that expansion as part of the progression. By end of expansion, every instance can be done AI. Former expansions, you can solo in latest expansion's gear or do with AI. No XP so you can enjoy or learn or get transmorg, but it cannot be used to level up outside of quests specific for that instance. Or the xp is insignificant.
@@isiseungella4688 I was the same way with Bastion. Fortunately I had my sons guild take me and I wiped the whole group! HAHA! But I as well have to wait down the road to get the mounts or recipes too. Would love AI raids!!!
You forgot to mention that if the player is the healer the npcs will stop in case you get out of mana.
The only unrealistic feature 😔
@@isabellaliev2810they also all say hi to you as well. Nothing like real players :(
xD@@isabellaliev2810
These comments lol. So true.
@@BapeRuLLZ When AI is more friendly and you get a warmer welcome form them than real people, you know the world's going down 😆
I haven't done a single Dragonflight dungeon yet (I always drop the quests too rather than deal with speed running PUGs), so I'm very much looking forward to this
@@Akihito_Kanbara Its because mythic+ is now a huge part of the meta, and this has changed the mentality of people towards what dungeons are supposed to be. In other words, competitive players dont have the patience to enjoy the story or socializing because everything is a rush for them and they arent willing to do anything that doesnt contribute to their progression. Back in the day dungeons were designed for few people to take it slowly and work together using tactics to defeat strong enemies and they served as a conclusion to a main questline of a zone. Now they are one of the main competitive elements of the game, and this by default attracts toxic people.... pvp has been like that since the start of the game.. And i mean this is how it is in every game. Just look at league, worst community on the entire planet.
@@Akihito_Kanbara Anyways, i get what you are saying, but my point was that people dont like the meta of constant rush, not that they are afraid.
@@Akihito_Kanbara Oh that. You are right. I just browsed comments and i see it too, but I dont see why would normal be a problem then.... I've seen few comments from people with disability who cant play at same pace as others, so thats understandable, but others... who knows..
@@Akihito_Kanbara Do you realize how ridiculous this comment is? People don't feel like spending whatever time they have to play the game and then have their experience ruined because other players decided to be assholes. They're not avoiding the dungeons. They're avoiding the other players due to social anxiety.
@@Akihito_Kanbara Tanks and other players sometimes move way too fast for some people's liking or are toxic butt hats and people don't like dealing with that when they're trying to relax. This is catering to that crowd.
On one hand I have always been firmly in the camp of MMORPGs being social oriented games.
On the other, I saw a guy tell another lowbie player to kill themself in a leveling dungeon because they wouldn't skip a boss.
Sign me up for Follower Dungeons.
I've been told to self-delete multiple times for tanking more slowly than someone preferred; I'm not exactly a speed-runner. I've also been stalked and harassed ingame after healing a dungeon and letting a DPS die because he deliberately stood in ground-effects to "give {me} something to do". He made multiple alts on my realm to get around the "ignore" feature, saw my guild name and harassed me on other alts as well, for DAYS. I've been leery of the dungeon finder since those incidents, though they were in Cata and WoD.
@@evage99 That's horrible :-( Some people really have issues.
sorta similar but after rolling a monk and running a dungeon (first time as a monk) our tank whispered me and told me someone wanted to kick me from the team just because I was new to windwalker and my dps sucked. It was a random huntard in the group and little did that huntard knew, I also main hunter xD thankfully the tank defended me but I decided to leave the group. reasons like that makes me appreciate this follower dungeon system so I can practice my dps in there without any scoundrel telling me how bad my dps is (which is now better with my windwalker monk after running many follower dungeons) 😅
For someone who likes to explore the dungeon and read/listen to the npcs/bosses the first time I run a particular dungeon (almost impossible as a healer :p) I´m really looking forward to trying this out! Would love to see it in raids aswell (like LFR difficulty) for the same reasons.
They will probably do this with raids at some point for people to be able to experience the story of an expansion. It only makes sense. They can craft curated quest paths (basically like the campaign in modern expansions) and let you play through them up to and including the raid with NPCs. You can have people level through old expansions in a new way when selecting the expansion in chromie time or whatever that system is for leveling where you pick your xpac. Would be great for new players to be able to get all the story they possibly can, while Blizz doesn't have to necessarily do that much work beyond the initial work on making AI raids. I think it's very likely to happen within the next few years.
This sounds great. Gives you a chance to practice new roles and to play solo or with a friend with far less stress and more fun. Really like this.
I just got back in to playing WoW again. Seeing this make me happy. Maybe in the future they could replace the AI npc's with our alts. Which will also be great as a catch up mechanic for our alts.
I think I would shed actual tears of joy if I could go into a dungeon with my main and 4 of my alts
I totally concur
That would be AMAZING
Hope they do it for all dungeons so leveling is much faster and u dont need to find people
Glad to see this finally. Considering they've been testing it with the Islands, CompStomp, etc., it was bound to come. Great addition to learn new roles, but most particularly for the people that want to see and do a dungeon, not speed run a normal like an M+. Thanks for the preview. Get to clear my quest log when this comes out!
I was thrilled to hear this feature was coming! I'm a solo player most of the time, and fairly new to WoW. I personally never enjoyed the idea of participating in guilds/dungeon finders because some of these hardcore gamers have horrible attitudes. Gives you a ton of social anxiety and pressure to perform. And i always thought to myself: Why don't they just have NPCs i can take with me instead? Hopefully they keep evolving this in the future too. Maybe you could even customize, name, and spec them, so they because your own personal group.
In general I hate it when MMORPGs introduce systems that replace people with NPCs or diminish the role of the community (I hate a similar system in FFXIV for example) but given what I've seen some players say to other players during WoW leveling dungeon, I'm not sure I particularly care how this will affect the WoW community... I had a friend who straight up refused to do dungeons and raid finder because she had too many bad experiences pugging. So screw it, bring in the bots.
Unfortunately, this is too true. I've got quite a few friends who just refuse to pug, and even I prefer to go with at least one friend, though more people I know, the better. With newer people, I like taking them in what I call "safe" groups, which means, more people we actually know, since we can't trust strangers to be decent, even to new, learning people.
That problem started when WoW became competitive. Like World First, PvP Leader and M+. In my opinion an MMORPG should never be competitive, period. Because then always a meta and toxicity will be unavoidable.
@@GoddessPallasAthena Yeah, my friend didn't even want to finish Exile's Reach because of the pug dungeon at the end, and she's a kickass raid healer. Might sound silly to have a mental block over a level 10 dungeon, but yeah some players have really been burned by the community.
@@hanzomain8302 Absolutely right. Though there have always been player-created "competition," Blizzard really fed into it, especially with the Mythic+ Timer. I think the timer really adds to the toxicity, and the way they run it has bled into easier dungeons. Dungeons (such as Timewalking or leveling dungeons) that SHOULD feel more relaxed are often made stressful for some with the extreme-speed runs that people want to do. We could still go fast, but does it HAVE to be done in five minutes?
So instead of cooperation, of helping each other, we have people acting like everyone else is in their way.
@@benoitrousseau4137 That's me also. At the beginning of Shadowlands in the first dungeon (Necrotic Wake I think it was called) me and the other players got shouted at by some douche tank and that was simply the last straw for my brain - never did any dungeons or raids in WoW ever since. So this feature is like a dream come true
What do you think of Follower Dungeons in 10.2.5? twitch.tv/MrGM
I could really see a whole system built around recruiting and gearing the followers and taking them into Mythics or something harder than normal, would help us Dad gamers who can't always group with people.
I'm not really sure who this is for. Seems like a useless dead system to me. Who the hell runs normal mode dungeons? Why? They are dead content as soon as you reach max level. And the leveling experience is so short in comparison, and queueing with random people and beating normal is so fast and easy, I think this is useless. If this was expanded to also include mythic+ and raids, well now you're talking, but that kind of AI would be insane to create and also go against the MMO aspect of the game.
This is a nice feature because some people don’t make dungeons fun. Some people will rush ahead causing you to play catch up. Some will pull everything while running ahead causing possible death and others will just abandon the group.
BUT THE BEST PART OF AN MMO ARE THE OTHER PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 edit: yak
@@pauldacon828 not when some people are not fun to play with
@Royceman1995 OMG NO SHIT REALLY?
@@pauldacon828were you being sarcastic?
@Royceman1995 if I said no would you believe me?
Because of the community in dungeons, my wife refuses to play in them. She is new and quickly gets left behind, then kicked for not doing enough dps or not keeping up when they die.
This will make it much better for her to learn them to start with, and a safe place to play them.
Oh that happens to me I’m not new per say but sometimes im not putting out tons of damage and what not on a new alt and then its bye bye to me since I wasn’t doing well.
I've never seen anyone kicked in a random normal/heroic 5-man group for low DPS. I don't use damage meters anymore (I play solo, why bother) but I'm very sure I did practically zero damage in the last random normal I queued for while leveling, just because the raid-geared tank ran off with all the mobs, and I didn't even catch up to the group until they stopped for a boss... 😅😭
I detest the impatience and immediate hate that gets thrown around the moment someone has the audacity to heal wrong, or die, but getting kicked from a random 5-man for low DPS? I doubt it.
@@evage99 You have said you are a solo player, and stopped using damage meters due to this. This tells me you have atleast some experience in playing wow at a higher level. Have you played with a brand new person in a dungeon without a raid geared racer?
My wife is still learning, and as a side effect most dungeons the healer is doing more damage, and sometimes if they die, they get lost, doing no damage at all, and usually a vote goes up with 'no damage' or 'lack of participation' near the last boss. This doesn't happen every queue and every dungeon mind you, but it has happened enough to ruin the experience
@@evage99 I notice more and more tanks are playing that way. It seemed like I was doing little dps but its because I was literally running the entire time.
I really hope this works with war bands in the next expansion, it would be awesome to run dungeons together with your other toons being controlled as AI.
This is a good for those who play the game casually. I used to play WoW mainly for Lore and RPG. This is honestly a good feature for players who want to enjoy the lore of the game.
This is a way to get me interested in coming back to the game. This is a great thing for Alts as they hit max level and if it is expanded correctly a great way to level toons if you can use this for any dungeon.
this is the only practical use for a solo player that i can imagine. Leveling Alts.
I think some people will need to remember that Dragonflight will be the default expansion, when TWW will be current.
You're free to use chromie, but as the new-player experience, this is a massive change for those players. It'll be for everyone to use, but I think that's the real reason why this is being worked on rather than it just being a new feature for them to drop into wow.
I see what you’re getting at.
This is such a good point. It will let all those new to the game players do exiles reach then organically continue their story in DF with these follower dungeons and they will be able to learn all the things you need to know to do dungeons - like all the mechanics of their class as they learn a new spell down to - oh this is what this mechanic looks like and this is what the npc's are doing when there is this tell, maybe i should do the same... at their own pace without risk of abuse. It's sad that the abuse exists but at least this lets you side-step it.
It explains why the leveling campaign is so well polished and the rest of the expansion is so Bare Bones and repetitive and generic.
I actually think it's really hilarious, because all of the things that people praised and said were signs that the developers were listening and that they were actually changing, were really just things that they have been planning for a very long time. They were going to use this expansion as the new beginning leveling experience. It had nothing to do with people's concerns, their complaints, their feedback, it was just business as usual. It just so happened to come at the perfect time to make the game designers look good.
@@pauldacon828your take on the expansion is terrible. It doesn't feel bare bones at all.
And holy fucking shit can you neckbeards give the "game devs are all evil and want us to suffer" crap a rest already?
Even if DF was designed the way it is with these new systems in mind, that doesn't mean they didn't choose to work on these systems based on player experience. The game has been around for decades. They've been dealing with a toxic player base for decades. The decisions of any game that lasts this long with this horrible a community doesn't do so by ignoring player feedback.
this is fantastic for lore lovers like me, i like to my 1st run to be all about the story also i really wish this could make it to the BFA raids, some of them are imposible for make them solo
Hope they do this for normal, heroic, and m0 dungeons.sometimes its nice to try out alts without affecting others.
would definitely make for great Solo content and a way to start the season on the right foot.
I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am for this.
I realized that people are very hard on tanks and healers.
If the tank doesn’t pull as if you’re running through the dungeon, then he gets kicked.
If the healer attacks rather than heals, he gets kicked.
If DPS doesn’t do enough damage, everyone leaves.
It’s just dumb sht, and getting kicked is normalized. Seems like each dungeon I join theres at least 1 kick each time.
This perfect for me, as I always worry about letting people down when I invariably muck up lol
lol the npc tank line of sights the mobs, thats like 50% better tanking than irl players hahjahah
I saw that too! When I did that while tanking, it was "What an idiot, this is a leveling dungeon" and I feel vindicated by seeing an NPC do it 😅
i endorse Follower Dungeons to the point that i want them for Heroic and M0 difficulty too. it would be great Solo Challenge content AND it would be a masterclass for anybody looking to learn their role in the high end of content. i REALLY hope Blizzard takes this even further than Normal.
@@MellowFresh They will learn the wrong lesson from it. Normal mode offers no useful rewards so almost nobody will run these. Blizzard will see the low engagement and decide that the feature is a failure and double down on shoving randos up your bum for all meaningful progression forever. It's too bad considering the (likely) high percentage of the player base who want grouping with others to be truly optional rather than an absolute mandate.
I was just thinking heroics could use them. Hopefully they'll add that later.
this is the direction they should be going, more solo-friendly content; nobody has time to spend hours finding people, we want to get right into the action
the best thing about an mmo is engaging with real people
I agree and disagree, solo content can be great. It’s also destructive as fuck to our ability to socialize with other people. I think it’s already a massive problem with how little people communicate in game these days. It takes you max 15 minutes to Que for a dungeon, and when you join it’s already basically an AI experience because no one says hi or communicates at all except for to shit on noobs who don’t know mechanics. I’ve been playing this game since beta. I was 11 years old when it came out and I’ve never seen the game in such a state where the only talking I see in game is people selling gold runs and just refusing to even say hi when joining a group. Now you may think that’s not a big deal because it is just wow, but I think it’s reflective of a broader societal trend of loneliness and isolation and I think it’s insanely destructive for us as humans. We are social animals and I don’t like the idea of the game just becoming a grind you do on your own while you watch hours of dumb shit on Netflix. I say all this as the most introverted person you’ll ever meet. I enjoy my time alone more than most. But I think we need to be careful of eliminating all social aspects of gaming. Some of the best friends I’ve ever had I made in random dungeons in wow or in guilds before we had guild finder. If you go back to classic, it sucks but the one thing it does better is the social aspect, which is why everyone’s still playing it and enjoying the fuck out of it (until dungeon finder ruins it AGAIN). It is unconvenient to have to find groups, sure, but we have to ask why that is and what broader societal things we might wanna change (like maybe paying people more and moving society to a 4 day work week so people have more free time). I don’t like the idea that our free time is so precious these days we can’t even afford to spend the 30-40 minutes it would take to talk to another human being and organize a group.
@@Sussurrus the future is now old man.
@@Sussurrusnah fuck that people too toxic.
nobody has time? YOU have no time
if you want to do mythic 0 dungeons all expanions long do it... you wont be able to push +26 with bots
you have no time but you want to waste time dong one dungeon with bots for 50 minutes pulling pack by pack
they cant end there they need to add a.i dungeons to each timeline expansion now
I would say that will happen but the older content will take some time.
It would also be interesting to see like a 10 man raid or even timewalking hand that feature
@@justinbuda2352
It would take about six months of development time if they actually made it a priority, but they won't.
We'll be lucky to see that in two years.
This is pretty nice way to learn new roles. In FF14 i learned mostly how to tank on that game from the dungeons with npcs.
Ya, I'm glad both games are taking lessons from each other.
This is so cool. Finally wow feels like its catching up a bit to modern standards of MMOs. Hopefully they continue to make casual content like normal and heroic dungeons more and more relevant rather than the endgame being strictly mythic+ and raiding.
I like it, every storyline end in do this stupid dungeon. This make easier fir people on working weird shifts, on slow servers or RP serves to complete the story mode.
I can’t wait for follower dungeons. I don’t do dungeons at the moment because I prefer to solo stuff. So this means I’ll actually do dungeons.
I would like heroics also tho
I think this will fit perfectly into quest lines where there is dung at some point of the chain, and you can do it casually, and take your time to enjoy yourself and watch cutscene without the sprinters :)
I'm a big fan of this because I've gotten sick of rude people and tanks that want to run a marathon through the dungeon. Its also a great way to train up on being a tank or healer.
The paladin tank LOS pulling...OMG.. that awesome!!! @4:06 Would love to see this expanded up to Mythic. Such a pain some times to get into Mythic group to to gear up for M+
As someone that likes to take his time and apreciate the visuals and story of the dungeon, I really appreciate this addition. It gives me the chance to take my time.
I just hope that there will be some sort incentive to keep doing normal dungeons with players, wow is already less social than it once was and id hate to see that trend progress any further.
Other than that im a big fan
I remember with MOP they made that training area accessible with your class trainers but this is much more accurate to actual dungeon gameplay. Except for them actually pausing for you to get mana. :P
training dungeons are a good idea imo. run them a few times, learn the basics, then progress into real groups if you like. see no downside of this. good change by Blizz, if, it works correctly.
I love this, I hope blizz implement this to heroic and timewalking, I played wow once week to relax, i dont wanna deal with toxic players who wanna rush dungeons
I am so looking forward to this. I live in Hawaii so time zones cause issues with having guildmates online when I am. This also allows my tank characters to learn the dungeons because everybody expects tanks to know every pull.
This seems like a great concept, hopefully they continue to expand on it with some additional features like:
- Adding older dungeons to the pool table from previous expansions.
- Allow us to collect other NPC companions similar to the Mission table followers from Warlords of Draenor where you could recruit different named NPCs with different specs.
- With the Warband feature coming next expansion TWW, maybe even have a system where you can do follower dungeon with alt characters on your account, you can select an alt and spec and go adventuring with "yourself", doing dungeons with different characters that you have already leveled up. This is especially attractive for players that do lots of Roleplaying which I recently got into. My alts on my RP server are unique with themes and backstories (A Frostwolf beast-tamer, a Red Dragon mage in visage form, a Mok'nathal berserker, etc)
I see nothing but good things from here a great way to learn new dungeons with friends
I would love if they did this with all the dungeons in wow eventually. I would love to go through a dungeon with some difficulty. Now, I'm just capping my xp gain and going solo through dungeons, and that's really hard. Being lvl 30 in a lvl 30 dungeon is hard, but it would be great if I could have 4 other bots with me. I love looking around and reading about every boss, rather that just rush and finish it as quickly as possible. This would be a game changer for me, and I would go through every dungeon in wow if this was implemented in old dungeons, just for the lore and a bit of a challenge.
Imagine, while leveling, never having to deal with a-holes in a dungeon again. This is awesome.
Wonder if they will add gear to the followers like they did with mission tables or something similar it'd be nice if they had some minor progression as a small prize
Delves in the war within has gearable follower
This is such a welcome feature! Very cool. Having returned to the game three months ago I've yet to try any of the Dragonflight dungeons due to anxiety. Getting to test and learn them like this first will certainly help me get over that threshold.
This is a good way for people to learn the dungeons before doing it live.
This should be possible for heroic, timewalking and mythic 0, those are braindead difficulty anyway, normals even more so.
Ive been soloing since vanilla launch and have never really liked the experience grouping with other people. From loot ninjas, to temper tantrum kids, to elitist gatekeepers, its been mostly a bad experience grouping with random people. This is fantastic. I also play sporadically due to my work schedule so itll be nice to be able to run old and current content at 3am with some AI buddies or when my wife and i play together. Wish theyd do this option for raids as well!!
I don't think the wow community truly knows how good this is yet.
This is actually bad ass! I cant wait!
I hope we'll have something like this for raids too. Waiting for players for HOURS for them to join or to just start the freakin raids because "blablabla we need to prepare" is overwhelming in the long run.
i love this. being a vanilla wow player, i used to love running dungeons with strangers. but now its just so toxic i never run them anymore. i missed out on experiencing alot of lore and had to learn it on youtube. swtor does this very well, but blizzard upped the game by adding more npc's than just a tank. i would like to see this branch out to all dungeons so i don't have to wait till i'm a higher level to run them. i wouldlike to experience them at the approprite level. good job blizz (still doesn't make up for breaking the world/quests with cata thought😁)
I would love it if you can use your alts as the followers. I.e. you go in with your tank or healer and your DPS alts come with you.
I love running mythic plus, but sometimes I enjoy just touring dungeons at my own pace. This will be enjoyable even for me.
I haven't done any of the Dragonflight dungeons (or Shadowlands either) because I just don't like PU groups. This will be a godsend for transmogging and for those missing goodies I have never got.
Basically it allows you to do a dungeon without the asshole factor. No skipping mobs , jumping off edges and no rez. You can do the dungeon. Tanks and healers will be able to learn.
I can see me using this a lot. I'm not really in a guild and I don't like dungeons and raids as PUG because of issues (Basically I was bullied as a kid when I didn't know how to play sports etc and the whole thing has meant I don't like doing things with strangers). I prefer knowing how to do the thing before I go in. So now I can learn.
I really hope they expand upon this idea. I would prefer follower raids as well. The amount of toxic people on Wow.
I would rather almost play by myself. This is an amazing idea.
I have a muscle disability and that sounds very exciting because I didn't get some mounts back in the day. I play a bit slow and the people hate me a lot. Hopefully they will include all dungeons in the future.
this is exactly what i've wanted from wow for a long long time. i hate the expectation of perfection even in normal dungeons from fellow players, the need to watch a dungeon guide before even playing it, and the stress of judgement. this might actually get me to come back and maybe try tank and healer roles.
finally i can do dungeon quests!
Id love to see this for all the old content. Dungeons that the mechanics stop you from finishing some parts is hair pulling. I have a Protection pally that is maxed level but after hearing so many putting people down for not knowing roles this will help me learn the role and get me ready for other content.
I think it great. For returning players it can be hard to follow along if you return between two expansions. I hope there make it possible to run with them own alts that wood be amazing.
Now we need to do this with are own alts instead of the NPCs 🤣🤣🤣❤️
To me, this is a great feature when I'm nervous to step into a mythic+ dungeon. Like right now I'm returning to the game. This would be an easy way to test the new mega dungeon they added in dragonflight. I only played the regular DF ones at the start, so it would be useful to check out the megadungeon for immersion and just seeing basic mechanics. Then I wouldnt feel blind joining somebody's +5 of it at the start of the season. Joining a +2 is no big deal and that works too, but the AI dungeons would be more chill and I could really take in the dungeon.
I'm with you. I'm a bit long in the tooth myself and having this to allow me to enjoy and learn the dungeons before having to have others who know it having to deal with me learning it (especially if I'm on one of my tank characters) is outstanding. Plus once I can learn it I can help others but running mythics and heroics
I'll definitely enjoy this. This will make chasing specific items much easier since I won't have to drag guildies along or deal with pugs who also want the items.
i saw a tweet the other day talking about maybe the idea of doing follower dungeons with our warband and that would be really awesome, especially as someone that's written story for a lot of my characters that actually involves them interacting at some point. it would be really cool to have that for my own personal immersion. great vid Dan!
About time Blizz!
Hopefully this will be rolled out to older dungeons eventually too.
Yes please 🥺
Do they do the mechanics perfectly, or do they make mistakes like PUGs would? Eg, do they stand in bad, do they miss interrupts, does the healer sometimes accidentally forget to heal you or use a bad choice of a healing spell, does the tank proactively use their active mitigation, etc?
I really like it, it's like dungeon training wheels, I've got a level 70 paladin and I've always wanted to get into tanking with it but really didn't want to step on any toes while adjusting, sure there is guides on TH-cam for anything but actual experience is different, likewise with my priest.
If you've watched guides and done your "homework", tanking is about not giving a shit about what your pug group says. I've had multiple experiences with people having snarky comments about my tanking, while they were contradicting themselves and lacked knowledge about the game. One of the most common examples I had were dps players spamming "pull more" during bolstering and/or bursting.
I am serious, if you're gonna do tanking in the future, put instance, party and say chat into separate windows, turn off chat bubbles and fully ignore everyone, because chances of them having something useful to say are very slim.
@@jankxyard I don't watch guides, I don't do homework when I am trying to have fun, the extent of it for me is hitting up icyveins for a build, it simply isn't the way I play and it never will be... these give me a way to learn mechanics without making someone else's time potentially wasted.
I think this is Great! To be able to take my time and go through these dungeons will be awesome.
I need this for all the weirdo dungeon quests I keep getting and not being able to run.
Hope this goes to every dungeon in all expansions, including heroics
This can be good for m+ aswell, for example only healer or manually adjustable rote with ai tank etc ( but max 1 person )
I am really looking forward to this feature. Next to Transmog and original Flight, this will be one of my favorite features of all time.
Ever following in FFXIV's footsteps
Took me some 20 seconds to realize: cool, I can actually train some specs I'm not firm in and how to use them in Dungeons! Also, I can finish dungeon quests with alts at whenever o'clock!
I love this idea. I'm so tired of how fast people speed through dungeons as if they're mythics.
On PTR I did some and I don't normally I don't a lot of dungeons. Doing it single actually let me learn the dungeon, I normally just follow the tank and don't have any idea.
Quick question, will every boss grant you catered loot for your spec? been arguing about it that blizzard may just give you a chance to loot or just gold from chest
They need to add heroic and mythic and mythic plus to this for sure
The stats from Blizzard themselves show that 70% of their player base have never completed a single raid. Almost 50% play solo all the time.
Bellular and JS-H and others did follow ups and the general consensus is that WoW (Like most other MMOs) can offer a horrible grouping experience for new or less able players. Meaning they give up on grouping quickly. Never learn the grouping skills (which, let’s face it are completely different from solo levelling skills) and either leave the game or continue as solo players forever.
That’s half the entire player base who, always play solo and a lot more who mostly play solo.
Turns out raiding is the unusual activity, not the default. And the awful grouping experience is the reason why.
People ruin everything.
This feature has renewed my excitement for WoW. I also play FFXIV and the addition of a system similar to this has been a huge help to me in that game, and now it will also exist in WoW. I'm so excited for the next patch.
I've been playing since BC, grouping with people you don't know has gotten progressively worse as younger players join the player base. If the rewards and experience were the same as in regular and heroric dungeons I'd never play with other players again in dungeons. Hope they expand this so I can escape all the younger toxic players.
This is literally what lfg and lfr did.
Looking back, lfg and lfg are hailed as the things that ruined WOW.
Now you don't need groups anymore. Just switch to dps and let the bots do all.
This feature will be considered the nail in the coffin in a few years.
So excited for this! I wish we could bring our alts as followers, but this is an amazing evergreen feature regardless.
THAT would be fun. With them having the War Bands and having the picture of our toons socializing, I wonder if this will ever be a thing? They'd come with the spells, talents and gear they have on (so what you do makes a difference). Then, maybe fill in whatever roles we have left with AI. OMG the screenshots I'd take!!
Can they take this a step further and allow me to run full dungeons with my other level 70 alts? So I could gear them all at once and swap between the characters mid-run?
I can't imagine being able to collect gear for other alts, even if we could use them as NPCs. Blizzard allows multiboxing because they get more money, and that would destroy it. Nobody with alts would gear up any other way if they could just get dungeon loot for 5 toons simultaneously.
@@evage99 I agree. It would definitely "break" the game. But it would be super fun.
You mean I can run a dungeon without some coked up 10 year old screeching that we need to rush? (Bit sad that Heroic is not included tho, but still a nice move for wow)
Listen if your good enough and have some patience you can already solo DF dungeons as a tank
Seems very good except I do not like it doesnt reward experience at the end. Or else this would be a nice way to level up. I really dislike how people level up dungeons now. Tank just pull half the dungeon and we all aoe everything behind a corner.
I hope they add followers you get from WoD and BfA (the npcs you send out on missions) have it so old content is worth playing. i feel sad for the devs that put so much work into it only to be brushed aside never to be touched.
Do you think you would be able to run them with your alts when war bands come in?
VERY excited about this. I'll finally be able to work out my tank and healer specs on my toons without having to worry about anything else. Hopefully the NPC's know how to work with boss fight mechanics and not die in the fire and will target appropriate adds.
If loot and exp are same as regular dungeons this is dumb tbh. Completely undermines the actual groups coming in and working together doing them.
My only problem with this is the dungeon pool is so restrictive, being only current expansion normal mode dungeons which while great for leveling alts is a bit useless for someone max level who has been playing since the start.
Finally, I can enjoy a normal dungeon without the mythic+ 9 to 5 "games as a job" maniac tank rushing it like it's the last 5 minutes of his wow job deadline
It's depressing how playing WoW with other people came from augmenting and even being core to the experience to being such a detriment to it
I'm hoping..... HOPING HOPING HOPING.... that sometime in the future, the NPC AI's will be your alts.
That way, I can run thru these dungeons with roles filled by all of my toons.
Soon enough, WoW is going to turn into Yggdrasil from _Overlord_ (my favorite anime series) and we'll have our own AI npc followers to aid us not only in dungeons but also in LFG raids (including heroic and mythic) and they will also follow us into questing in any zone, just like in Draenor and Legion, which is something I miss and enjoyed. It would pretty much turn the game into Skyrim 😊
