Yes, I've requested this band so many times!! You have to watch the movie "Eddie and the Cruisers now". John Cafferty sang the entire soundtrack in the movie!! You'd love it! They have so many great songs!!
YES! I grew up just a few minutes where so much of that movie was filmed - vineland and somers point, nj. its eddie & the cruisers is ugh a cult classic in south jersey because of the filming locations.
I agree. This song is connected to a movie about a band. The movie is called Eddie and the Cruisers. Y'all should watch and react to that movie if you like the vibe of this song.
OMFG, Eddie and the Cruisers is one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever! I still don't believe that's not Michael Pare actually singing. It sounds so much like his speaking voice in the movie. EDDIE LIVES!
Loved the movie - Song came from the soundtrack of Eddie and the Cruisers. Cult Classic with Michael Pare. Name of the singer is John Cafferty. Cafferty also did the soundtrack for the movie’s sequel - Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives which also has a Phenomenal Soundtrack
YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! You guys have NO idea how long we have been WAITING for you to discover Eddie and the Cruisers - and one of the greatest soundtracks EVER. I am doing my happy dance in my chair right now - and belting out one of my favourite songs in the movie. But honestly the ENTIRE soundtrack is worth a listen - and the movie is a MUST watch on your channel. John is amazing - and the man behind the music. Seasons in Hell, Tender Years, Runaround Sue, Hang up my Rock and Roll Shoes, Betty Lou Got a New Pair of Shoes, and Boardwalk Angel are ALL fantastic listens as well. Much love from Canada! :)
Eddie & The Cruisers is a great movie. My only gripe about the song is that it isn't longer. In the car I push the repeat button about four maybe five times on this song.
As everyone else has told you this song backs a Michael Pare film called Eddie and the Cruisers, a must watch. While you're at it, make it a double feature and add Streets of Fire. You'll love them both.
I saw them in a local bar in the 90s. Before the show, John Cafferty and the sax player, "Toons" sat with us while we had dinner. John ate all my fries off my plate. Nice guys. He then brought me on stage when he sang my favorite song by him, "Tender Years." It was a great night. The movie "Eddie and the Cruisers" this was written for is excellent. You guys should react to it on your movie channel.
@@seanswinton6242 I love the second one. Okay, the acting isn’t always the greatest and there’s almost zero chemistry between Eddie and his love interest but when he takes the stage he is smoking hot. Especially at the dance when he sings “Some Like It Hot”. Also, back to the love interest, the only thing about her that says she’s an artist is her dialogue. Not her clothes, hair, or demeanor. Back to Eddie and the movie overall. To me the ending is powerful. I can’t say anything more because Jay and Amber haven’t seen it but I think it was handled very well. Love, love, love it!
I only know this from the movie Eddie & The Cruisers. Good movie great song! Have a great weekend. Btw Eddie & the Cruisers was an 80s movie but set in the 60s.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - Ya'll BUSTIN' INTO DANCE: This song ALWAYS made me DO THAT, TOO!!!! Talk about a song that comes on the radio and makin' even the most BORING DAY into an INSTANT ENERGY OUTBREAK!!! 😍😍😍 LOVE IT!! SUPER SAX SOLO - GREAT VOCALS - GREAT BASELINE!!! ...and, YOU HAVE TO MOVE!!! GREAT TUNE!!! ❤❤❤
I always thought this had a very Bruce Springsteen-ish influence. Huge song at the time and from the awesome Eddie & The Cruisers movie. Great reaction!
I actually thought this was Bruce when it first came out. I went to the store and bought the Born in the USA album only to discover that this song was not on it.
My first time seeing the real band behind the song. Geez, I love the Eddie and the Cruisers movies so much! Thanks heaps to whoever requested this one... much love from Australia x
I've seen a bunch of recommendations for you to watch "Eddie and the Cruisers." It was a really good mid-80s movie. But there's such an interesting story for this song. It was originally released as a promo for the movie, as being performed BY Eddie and the Cruisers....who were a fictional band in the movie. The song didn't do great on the charts at that time. But then the song was re-released under the real band's name and it made it into the Top 10. Hearing this took me back to high school, watching MTV with my best friend . Great, great memories!
I love that song. It's from the 1983 movie Eddie and the Cruisers, which is a great movie starring Michael Pare as Eddie Wilson the lead singer of the band The Cruisers from the 60s .
Love this band!!! They did most of the music for the 80s cult classic Eddie and the Cruisres. Lots of great songs on that soundtrack. Another high energy song by them is "C-I-T-Y"
Yes, great soundtrack. Again, it's from "Eddie and the Cruisers." But you have to do the sequel as well. It's called, "Eddie and the Cruisers II Eddie Lives."❤❤
YES from good ole RHODE ISLAND. John Cafferty and Beaver Brown played our Senior Prom Cranston West 1977. The biggest local band and we paid a lot for them. Next "Tender Years".
Eddie and the Cruisers was a film made in1983 about the 50's. Its an interesting movie and it get surreal but yes...this song captures both eras quite well musically.
A friend of mine lived in Portland Oregon, we saw Eddie and the Cruisers 5 nights on vacation. John Cafferty and the Beaver brown band was on tour in Portland. Got tickets and saw them live. It was a great time.
Oh, this one's amazing!! Wish I could like the video more than once!! The way they segue from that mysterious piano, to the driving percussion and guitar, just gets me right where I live!!
OMG!!!!!! so happy you found "On the Darkside". Eddie and the Cruisers is one of the absolute best movies from the 80's. A Bonafide cult classic that with your now developed eclectic appreciation of music you will love just like the3 rest of us.
My instrument! Bands like them and those with full horn sections became rare after the 80's. I got my horn fix following the 80's through Latin music and Jazz.
@@seanswinton6242Me too! Alto in marching & baritone in concert/jazz bands. Loved playing the bari - got all the low, fun, sleazy sounding parts in jazz band! Lol That was more than a couple decades ago (holy crap!) so I'd probably sound like a wounded animal now! Ahhh the good ol' days! Blessings to everyone 🙏
Finally!!!! Can't go wrong with JC and BBB.....and the movie was good too. (Eddie and the Cruisers). Thank you for playing the actual band, and not the movie version.
I met them when they were first touring and John was so nice. He was in my restaurant and we talked and he invited my wife and I to his concert and before the show he met my wife and gave her an autograph and some merch and really spoke to us for about 5 minutes. He was such a regular guy and I will never forget it. good show too.
Eddie and the Cruisers part 1,2, 3....love story with a twist and a plot that keeps you wanting more. The music is just awesome, you will not be sorry you watched them. Great band, always a pleasure to hear John Cafferty sing :) great reaction
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band actually came to my town many years ago to do a concert there. It rained part of the day, but then the sun came out and he did his concert. The headliner was Rick Springfield. The concert was awesome!
Great to see you got around to this one. I was hoping you'd get to it soon. Like you said, it's got that get up and move vibe like 'Authority Song' from John Mellencamp and 'Footloose' from Kenny Loggins. As a recommendation, I'd love to see you get back around to Extreme. You appeared to love their hit ballad 'More Than Words.' It's time to check out their rockin' side. I just heard them on the radio today that reminded me. Let them show you how to 'Get the Funk Out.'
You guys need to watch "Eddie and the Cruisers" which is about a Musical Band that is ahead of their times then tragedy Happens. The movie stars "Michael Pare and Tom Berenger" both in the band and when the band plays it is really John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band that are doing the music. The movie has a great story and a great sound track.
Perhaps this exposure to John Cafferty will create the spark of interest in finally motivating Rob Squad to watch Eddie and the Cruisers. You won't be disappointed, especially since you seemed to have enjoyed this song. Eddie Lives!
Hey Jay & Amber, I'm glad you enjoyed this song it's such a great tune, definitely one of my favorites. Here's another suggestion if you'd like to listen to more of their music. *"John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band - Tender Years" (by the channel: John CaffertyBBBVEVO)* Cafferty had been playing rock n roll since he was 15 yrs. old. When he formed the group The Beaver Brown Band in the mid-70's and after gaining regional success with an independent single, they broke big nationally. Their first commercially successful single was a self-released 1980 single that paired two of their songs "Wild Summer Nights" and "Tender Years". But despite their success the act was ignored by the music labels. However, the single sold over 10,000 copies and had radio play up and down the Atlantic seaboard. Their music has appeared on the soundtracks of several major motion pictures including movies like "Eddie & The Cruisers, and "Cobra" starring Sylvester Stallion. This was fun thanks for sharing.
Saw John Cafferty about a year and a half ago at The Stone Pony. Great show, great songs, he can still sing and perform. Even though they're from Rhode Island they have a big connection to Asbury and the Jersey shore.
OMG, I'm so happy you listened to this! I've requested it before because the sound is so unique. This is from the movie Eddie and the Cruisers, which is a guilty pleasure movie for many of us. So glad you enjoyed it! Definitely do more JC&tBBB. Wild Summer Nights is great, and Tender Years is another great one (though it's slower).
This is one of my fav 80’s songs from my college years. This always is a must-dance to song. The band and song had a very Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band vibe and sound, but it totally worked for me.
This is such an awesome song! I totally love his voice and you definitely can’t sit still for sure! And the sax, love me some sax!🎷 Glad you guys loved it!👏👏
Great Reaction. Gotta reacts to "Tender Years" (mellow) and "Tough All Over". The Band is from Rhode Island. Another band from Rhode Island are the Cowsills. You have to react to their song "Hair" or "The Rain, The Park, & Other Things" Thanks. 😎
John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band are from Rhode Island. Here in the Northeast we LOVE them! They were a beach bar band in the 70's with a huge following. Then the movie Eddie and The Cruisers came out in 1983 and everybody discovered how great they were/are and the soundtrack went triple platinum. Listen to "Tender Years" next with Michael "Tunes" Altune on the sax. They still tour, I've seen them a few times here in CT at Shaboo reunions.
As some have mentioned, this is from the movie Eddie and the Cruisers. my girlfriend at the time when this movie came out bought me the movie soundtrack album. she knew how much i loved this movie. i still have that album.
Love this! I've definitely suggested this band so yay! I love Season in Hell (Fire Suite) too. JC&BBB have a unique throwback 50's/cool bar band vibe. The movie is a good one.
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band were underrated in the 80s, but they had a great sound and his voice seemed right out of the Elvis era. Thank you for reacting to them!!!! 🦫💓
If you havent noticed, this song contains one verse. thats it. When John Cafery was asked to do the soundtrack for the movie Eddie and the Creuiserhe went to the studio with an unfinished song. Was told to just sing the what he had and repeat the verse. Turned out to be a hit. The reason ithe song sounds like it was from the 60s, is because the movie, Eddie and the Cruisers, was about a sixties singer and songwriter who disappeared after an apparent car crash only to turn up in the 80s playing in a bar band under an assume name. Eddie then disappears at the end of the movie. The sound track was great. The movie spawned a sequel Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie lives. John Caffert also wtoe the soundtrack for the sequel.
I' m so glad you appreciate the music of the 60's - 70's - & 80's. Todays kids think that all these songs they hear (remakes) are new songs. and 90% of them are remakes of this time frame.
Yes, I've requested this band so many times!! You have to watch the movie "Eddie and the Cruisers now". John Cafferty sang the entire soundtrack in the movie!! You'd love it! They have so many great songs!!

It's a total Springsteen rip-off, which is why I never understood it being the central song to a movie that takes place in the early 60s.
Yeah they were from like Rhode Island definitely influenced by the boss in New Jersey
I thought Bruce too
This song always gave me a kind of Bruce Springsteen vibe, right down to the vocals, the sax... all of it

John wrote the song Some Like It Hot in memory of Elvis...
Saw them last year, they still perform. The entire band was mingling with the audience after they performed. Still sound great !
Wish they would tour more, they have always stayed close to NY, NJ, Rhode Island area. But I did see them mid 80's in NC.
@@Bluesbabesrv This was in RI at the Stadium Theater.
Eddie and the Cruisers is an amazing movie, you really need to watch it! And as you can tell from this one tune, the soundtrack is awesome!:✌🇨🇦👍💯
This song hits me right in the feelers everytime same with the star spangled banner
