I have used this tea, and it is calming. I thought I would not be able to sleep, I slept like a baby! I made a smoothie this morning and I enjoyed that as well. Now I must find the whisk!
Great video! Thank you! I just received my own matcha kit today and made myself a beautiful cup ;) I can't wait to start every morning with a matcha ritual
Thank you so very much Dr. Jim for your very kind, sensitve and full explanation of the making of the tea. lt seems that people these days want information in the quickest pos way with little regard for details. Thanks again for your easy to follow explanation.
Thank you for this instructional & informational matcha lesson!. And yes - it is definitely Jim Carrey that slips in there in the end right after that satisfying slurp of tea! Love it!
It's important to know that ALL matcha products are good from a health viewpoint. The ratings 'better' or 'best' are about artistic values --taste, fragrance, appearance.
This video is taking forever. I am now at @5:00. The guy has just explained we need to dry the cup after he's explained to us that putting hot water in the bowl will cause the bowl to heat up a little bit. We can use a paper towel. Or a napkin. Or anything that just causes it to be dry. Just to give you an idea how long-winded this video is!
I tried this tea for the very first time and let’s just say I’ve never tasted anything like this before. It’s really earthy. Is it possible to mix this with something to make it easier to drink? Please help. Thanks
Anyone know where to get a matcha bowl that looks like the one used in this video? I can't find one that looks close enough...and I *really* like the looks of the one in this video.
This tea saved my life against the fight vs cancer.. and i won with the support and help of nature! I made a channel to spread my vision and wisdom on the choices that helped me! Share with friends, familie and knownones. That are fighting the fight that i won
+Luka Henigman You may do that but wouldn't get its signature foam on top, still drinkable though :) Just make sure it is well mixed. I haven't got any of the traditional tools that he shows, so I just shake mine in a glass bottle.
Its extremely sacrilegious to the Matcha Gods. Hrushnu and Hernia. its said to be 1 year of bad luck for every time you prepare your matcha differently
Nice video. People need to learn appreciation before eating or drinking. It's not just about putting something in your mouth and consuming it mindlessly.
Amazon and there are two main matcha tea, the first one is ceremonial type which is pricey, the second is culinary grade and can be used for drinks as well as cooking. So if you want to save money get the culinary variety.
This is really interesting. I just started drinking green tea in tea bags but I think I'll switch to the powder form. Does this have anything to to do with the tea ceremony in other cultures?
One little correction here: It's not a solution if it's suspended no matter how "evenly distributed" it might look like. It's only a mixture. A solution exists only in one phase. The leaves don't dissolve in the water, no matter how smooth it may taste.
the green tea off the store shelves makes me so anxious but matcha tea is a world of difference no anxiety in fact its anti anxiety which is strange considering it contains caffeine,
you must be preparing it wrong. If you don't use a shakbalaba, your not removing enough of the anxiety inducing chemicals like , PcbbG and tritoRR. invest in one you won't regret it can also be used in bed
I'm pretty sure that before you dump a bunch of water in you're supposed to only put in a tablespoon or so to start so you can bust up the clumps and get the powder mixed to a smooth paste. After that you add the rest of the water and whisk until foamed. Otherwise not a bad video.
Howdy, Chicago Chicago, (my kind of town!): There are studies that show that consumption of teas, including green tea, can reduce iron absorption and therefore negate the energy boost many enjoy from green tea. Ultimately this is a question you want to discuss with your MD or DO; your specific treatment for anemia may not be affected greatly by consumption of teas. I would avoid investing in matcha until you get the clearance from your doc. But as the previous commenter suggested, liver is a great source of iron! And not having to actually eat liver by taking it as a supplement is brilliant! You may want to ask your doc about the liver supplement too.
I have the same allergies and it does not bother me. It's actually a green tea leaf, not "grass" even though he says it's grassy smelling and flavored as such. :)
I thought that the jury is out on whether or not green tea really has any preventative action against cancer. I don't really care about that, though. I smoke and spend time in the sun and roll around in toxic waste pits all the time, so I've resigned myself to dying of several forms of cancer. But I love green tea, and concur that matcha is indeed the essence of green. So goddamned delicious.
Something tells me that if this guy knew I was drinking Matcha tea out of an empty 40 oz Olde English malt liquor bottle, that he would come to my house, skin me alive, and use my skin to make lamp shades out of.
The way he looks reminds me of Jim Carey - I dunno lol on a side note: I adore matcha and I personally add it to my smoothie. As far as I know, it has all the same benefits as prepared in the way Dr. N did.
I know you're suppose to drink it in a tiny amount, but that isn't worth taking my tea to my comfy chair to relax for a spell. I add more water so I can sip it awhile, lol.
It would depend on where it was grown. The tea plant it self is only going to have the amount of radiation that it absorbed. If this is something you commonly worry about you should consider buying a Geiger counter. They are priced pretty decently these days.
FYI- a solution is the end result of something fully dissolved into something else (sugar into water). A suspension is placing something that isn't soluble into a vehicle for delivery. (Cereal and milk)
When I first got into tea, I was told that the tea in tea bags was crap because it's powdered, and that I should be drinking loose-leaf tea. Now, according to this, the tea gives you about ten times more antioxidant power because it's powdered. This would seem to indicate that the tea in tea bags is more healthful than loose-leaf tea. What gives?
Tea in tea bags is not powdered, it's just more finer cut then loose tea. Both are steeped the same way, then thrown away. Loose tea is superior to tea bags Matcha on the other is the healthiest of all teas. It's made of the whole leaf that's crushed into a fine powder that you consume without filter as you drink it whole There are different grades of matcha, you can do your own web search on that, ceremonial is the highest grade
In chinese, Mat=powdery and cha=tea. So the name Matcha tea is basically incorrect. You should call it just matcha or in English powdery green tea instead.
There's a reason why he's being so specific, he just doesn't want to scare anyone away from Matcha. If you choose to consume your Matcha differently, your committing sacrilege against the Matcha Gods SimiGrogo and Krebtoe. As is written in the Sandulian scrolls, One year of Poor luck to those who deter from our Matcha ways. Google it. Matcha chasata and good luck
this is for temperature control, if I'm not mistaken. having your bowl already warm negates the cooling effect that a room temperature bowl would have on your water, which would ideally be at the proper temperature, NOT 212 F (if you put water this hot directly on your matcha you'll release some of the bonds which hold together desired/beneficial components of your tea. you also risk changing the flavor significantly). From how it looks, Dr. Nicolai boils it so that it will warm the bowl enough to avoid lowering the temp of the water, which he is adding directly to the tea, and so that the boiling water has time to cool down to 176 (he says 180, close enough) by the time he is ready to add it to his matcha paste.
And like most things Japanese, they copied it from elsewhere. The words are straight ports of Chinese words (they still write it the same as the Chinese, pronunciation is similar Chinese). Utensils and powder itself, as with the words, were learned from China.
Yeah, that's really way to go when you are preparing a health benefit drinks, fucking dumb ass try to be smart. might as well just put the tea powder and cold water in a cup and heat it up in the microwave.
Amy al The kind of radiation that causes cancer/cell damage is the high energy radiation, mainly gamma rays, x rays, and the higher end of the ultraviolet spectrum. Other radiation, like visible light, infrared, micro waves and radio waves, do not. It will also depend on exposure. You are not exposed to radiation if you zap your food, though, not even if you do so with gamma rays.
I'm training to be a Samurai and found this video very helpful.
Mr. Nicolai you radiate the love towards the Matcha Tee and also you seem full of life. Thank you for this beautiful presentation.
I have used this tea, and it is calming. I thought I would not be able to sleep, I slept like a baby! I made a smoothie this morning and I enjoyed that as well. Now I must find the whisk!
selket myles www.davidstea.com/portal.aspx?CN=595DE0F0FC68 I bought mine from a DavidsTea store in Canada.
THANK you, I found mine on Amazon.
Thank you sir for this wonderful demonstration. Very simple, straight to the point, basic things to know by big genres (like me).
I loved your presentation in reference to the proper traditional way to experience Matcha..Very impressive. Thank you!

rinwhr thanks!!!
rinwhr thanks senpai
5:15 and the cup was still empty! lol
Watch the whole video to know the superior benefits of Macha vs other teas
Great video! Thank you! I just received my own matcha kit today and made myself a beautiful cup ;) I can't wait to start every morning with a matcha ritual
Thank you so very much Dr. Jim for your very kind, sensitve and full explanation of the making of the tea. lt seems that people these days want information in the quickest pos way with little regard for details. Thanks again for your easy to follow explanation.
Matcha tea lattes made with oat milk and honey are another way to enjoy this. I have it every day!
I do something similar but use 100% maple syrup instead of honey once I went vegan last year.
Interesting points on the meditative elements of the Japanese tea ceremony, and the health details theanine and EGCG.
Thank you for this instructional & informational matcha lesson!. And yes - it is definitely Jim Carrey that slips in there in the end right after that satisfying slurp of tea! Love it!
I love tradition but surely there is an easier way to do this on the day to day...
I send greetings from Czech Republic. from a country with the world's densest network of tearooms..:-) The Czechs love tea.
matcha changes my state of mind, It takes me back to the relaxing hills of japan its not just the act of drinking it its the chemical effects

i'm in love with matcha. So gooooooodddddd!!!!
Jim Carrey
И аз точно това си помислих ...
Kaloyan Trayanov I was thinking the same thing. hehehe Glad I'm not the only one. :)
I think is the way he speaks, his smile.
+Kaloyan Trayanov start at 6:58 and watch his reaction after he drinks. definitely jim carey.lol
Jim Carrey + a slice of Isla Fisher & a hint of Sean Hayes: keep all 3 on a low simmer for 12 minutes - & hey presto thats him.
You definitely need to whisk it a lot more than what you did! The bubbles where to big it needs to be a fine froth along the entire surface.
It's important to know that ALL matcha products are good from a health viewpoint.
The ratings 'better' or 'best' are about artistic values --taste, fragrance, appearance.
So I have to slurp it?
This video is taking forever. I am now at @5:00. The guy has just explained we need to dry the cup after he's explained to us that putting hot water in the bowl will cause the bowl to heat up a little bit. We can use a paper towel. Or a napkin. Or anything that just causes it to be dry.

I tried this tea for the very first time and let’s just say I’ve never tasted anything like this before. It’s really earthy. Is it possible to mix this with something to make it easier to drink? Please help. Thanks

MUCHAS GRACIAS SALUDOS CORDIALES, MÉXICO ESPAÑOL GRACIAS
Why can't I use a normal cup, spoon and drink it normally?
+Luka Henigman You may do that but wouldn't get its signature foam on top, still drinkable though :) Just make sure it is well mixed. I haven't got any of the traditional tools that he shows, so I just shake mine in a glass bottle.
Its extremely sacrilegious to the Matcha Gods. Hrushnu and Hernia. its said to be 1 year of bad luck for every time you prepare your matcha differently
conskimask I stubbed my toe twice after doing that. Oml
Thank you very much. I shall invest in a set. :-)
A great video on preparing matcha thank you.
I am curious about What matcha grade does Dr Weil drink?🧐
I don't know but I recommend an organic version. I also like the single serve packs!
What are the tolerance issues of using this daily? Am I going to be taking long breaks
Think I’m in love … with the tea and the dude lol
Nice video. People need to learn appreciation before eating or drinking. It's not just about putting something in your mouth and consuming it mindlessly.
Hi great video, where can I purchase very high quality matcha tea, or what should I look for? Thank you
Body comp I just purchase Tea Latte Mix Matcha Green Tea from Aldi's. By Tea Co Benner. $2.99 a 11.1oz can.
Amazon and there are two main matcha tea, the first one is ceremonial type which is pricey, the second is culinary grade and can be used for drinks as well as cooking. So if you want to save money get the culinary variety.
Can we take the prepared tea in a thermosteel to office to have it later??
Pleas try Argentinian Mate!! You will love it Dr !
How do you know what kind of Matcha to buy?
do you need to drink it hot in order to release the antioxidants or is it the same as drinking it cold?
This is really interesting. I just started drinking green tea in tea bags but I think I'll switch to the powder form. Does this have anything to to do with the tea ceremony in other cultures?
What say you to adding Matcha Green Tea to my smoothie? Are the benefits still there?
I gave up. Does he actually ever make the tea?
Rainy Sand 😂😂😂😂😂
It's ritual bro
Yes. I found this video to be very relaxing but yes he does make it and drink it. The whole prep time takes less then 5 minutes.
Patience
Hahaha
So, if you take your organic green tea leaves and grind them up in the coffee grinder, is that matcha tea? Does anyone know? Thanks!
Dr. Nicolai, thank You for your video You are handsome and very kind. Is enough to have matcha only once a day? Thank You!
Juliana Silva
Two times is better

Hi Gianna
Isn't to late to worry about the radiation?

Oron
Hi , can I drink green tea if I have anemia ? what's the best time to drink it ? What to take with green tea without impact of iron level ?

Raising the pinky when measuring out the matcha powder is optional. *wink*
Love it!!
Can you be allergic to matcha if you have grass, tree or ragweed allergies?
very nicely done
Thanks that was informative!
I have heard from a Matcha aficionado that if you drink it warm you want it at 70-80 degrees .
I have the same allergies and it does not bother me. It's actually a green tea leaf, not "grass" even though he says it's grassy smelling and flavored as such. :)
yes!!! is he

Which matcha?
He said hour before or after meal

except you're not supposed to drink out of the mixing cup. so the Japanese will come after him after he's done with you.

That’s how you drink mate🙏🏻
where do you get that chawan?
seriously
I DO NOT DRINK TEA!
ok
what do you drink?
Water milk and blood
Yummy
any sugar? Honey? Lemon? Nothing?
Ahhhaah "essence of green"
He so resembles Jim Carrey
Hahaha exactly what I thought
Does matcha have a high level of radition?
It would depend on where it was grown. The tea plant it self is only going to have the amount of radiation that it absorbed. If this is something you commonly worry about you should consider buying a Geiger counter. They are priced pretty decently these days.
No, if it did drinkers would have cancer and/or die. Fun fact: We all absorb radiation in small quantities everywhere.
I don't see why matcha would be any more irradiated than any other tea or plant.
You probably get more radiation taking a plane ride, or eating a banana.
awesome and thank you mmerijf!!!
7:00 Jim Carrey lol
FYI- a solution is the end result of something fully dissolved into something else (sugar into water). A suspension is placing something that isn't soluble into a vehicle for delivery. (Cereal and milk)
He did not soak the chasen also he didn’t get a truly good froth because he didn’t mix it properly which is in a w form.
top notch
Top stuff
Anybody else that can't get the froth like consistency that they show in videos? Lol.

can he like be my doctor?

useful but video went on way too long
You forgot to ring the little bell to let the faeries know its tea-time. You might as well pour it down the drain if you forget to do that. :(
What a guy
why make the bowl hot when you will put boiling water anyway on the matcha ...

Hold on. coffee is good for your liver. I love both coffee and tea, though.
But coffee is horrible for your gastrointestinal tract.
Mug. Tea. Water. Stir. Done.
If only it could be less pretentious

It's not good to radiate everything you consume, the radiation will translate into the tea which you will then absorb can we say, cancer ?
