I lived in Shizuoka for 2 years, thank you for telling the world about Shizuoka's green tea. I remember I cycled through a massive green tea farm on the northern part of Shizuoka city. Now I kinda miss living there, haha. I hope this channel can grow more and regain its former glory
@@onlyinjapan I dont think i realize the channel shrunk, although i did think i recall this channel originally being several people with John as only 1 of the hosts / members... i kind of forgot about the channel for a little while and recenty rediscovered. As an American who hasnt been able to leave north america, I find this channel very rewarding to watch. Thanks man.
Your videos are always informative and entertaining, and this video is no exception. I was truly fascinated how the Japanese use other ingredients to improve the taste of older green tea. P.S. the drone shots were simply stunning.
It's amazing how much tea leaves they can produce with a big farm like that. Whenever I watch videos like this I'm always amazed at the hardwork and care they put into the entire thing (from growing to harvesting, etc.) so while I think the end product is pretty expensive, I can see exactly why.
I've recently discovered that Japanese Green Tea is so good with sweets, or as an alternative to coffee with breakfast. It cleanses your palate with every sip, making you appreciate also the flavors of your food. I enjoyed this episode! Will check out the rest of the series!
LOVED THIS!! I love Japanese green tea and always try to enjoy a cup as often as possible. Hojicha being my favorite. Never thought about the precise details on how tea is cultivated and roasted. Thank you for sharing this video John!
Sugoi! I didn't realize that the green tea processing was so complicated and that the tea taste depended so much on harvest date. This video is very informative! Excellent work!!!
When I make a cup of tea, I won't look at it the same way after seeing the process it goes through. I enjoy all the different kinds of green tea but like my genmaicha 😋🍵 Enjoyed this John 👍

The "Tea Ceremony" and history of Japanese etiquette a 700 year tradition of cultural trade customs. Green tea has been involved with many nutritional investigations of science with human metabolism. This video demonstrates the industrial practice that quality experts can relate to process design across the industry. A very good job as touring assessment of the manufacturing plan and quality manufacturing. Good job John Daub!
Hi John! I used to live in Shizuoka for more than 10 years. My neighbor runs a green tea company. I didn't know how fukamushi sencha is produced, so it was nice to learn the process by watching your video. There is a pretty little village called Ikegawa in Shikoku, which produces green tea. Also there is a very clear river in the area and you can enjoy kayaking. I enjoyed a cup of tea and a tea dessert at a nice cafe in front of the river and tea field. You must go there.
It is so cool to see on how meticulous they are. This just proves their passion and their excellency. We are a coffee and tea drinker but not so sure if we ever tried their teas. The coffee that we drink usually comes from South America and Ethiopia. And teas are usually from Sri Lanka. We would love to try it. Hoping soon and also hoping to visit Japan!👌🏻
As a gardener, this may be my favorite ONLY in JAPAN series yet! Utterly fascinating =) Quick heads up that your intro chapter has a small typo ("strat").

Sadly, TH-cam doesn’t offer ‘Smell-O-Vision’ yet. The production quality of your videos, combined with the information content, makes me happy to watch them. Stunning aerials. The next episode on Matcha was film with tea grown under black tarps. You can imagine what kind that way 😂 should be a great follow up.
