    Adding notes for easy access when I come back to this video:
    1. Soak Macha whisk
    2. Measure out Macha (2grams - 1tsp)
    3. Preheat Macha bowl
    4. Sieve Macha powder into bowl
    5. Heat water (100-150ml @ 140-175°F/60-80°C)
    6. Add small amount of water and whisk to form a paste to remove clumps
    7. Add the rest of the water
    8. Whisk gently to combine water and Macha (gently scrape bottom)
    9. Whisk to create foam (keep whisk off bottom and quick zig zag motion)

The bowl is a bit different than these but it works pretty well and I LOVE using it. This was very helpful. I was using a TABLESPOON of macha which is 15 gram. I was adding I to half and half into my frother at 150/degrees. I was told not to use boiled water. So I was adding bottled water in. I want the whisk set. Also 15 g is definitely TOO MUCH but I was trying to replace coffee in my life. I hate the taste of coffee and i love macha. It’s bitter yet smooth and not disgusting like coffee. Second I don’t need flavors or sugars in macha. It tastes AMAZING to me. Coffee tastes acidic and chemical. I will try making MORE macha like 2 cups , not 1 tablespoon per my 10 oz coffee cup. So 4 g per 4*2=8oz

    • @Nioteas
      @Nioteas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm so glad you liked the taste of matcha right from the beginning! A lot of people do not.. A tablespoon of matcha is probably too much. I used to just use a spoon to stir it to drink it for the effects, and the taste. I've been interested in a set though. Also, don't drink matcha, at least not spoon stirred matcha, on an empty stomach unless you wanna feel very queezy. Lol.
      As well, matcha is much stronger than regular green tea, so you shouldn't need much. Coffee is great to me, but to each their own. Matcha is another de-lish vegan delight. Shalom.

    You suggest about 100ml per 2 oz, but many other sources say 50ml per 2oz.
    Just curious. Does more water dilute matcha’s benefits? Or does it just affect taste?
    I like my matcha at 100ml, but I also don’t want to miss out from the matcha’s benefits like the l-theanine and caffeine.

    • @Nioteas
      @Nioteas  ปีที่แล้ว

      50ml could be for koicha or thick matcha. 100ml is already producing a very concentrated usucha or "thin matcha"

    What would be the alternative to a tea kettle? All of the tea ceremony videos I’ve seen have a giant pot of boiling water and I don’t have that nor do I know how I’d get one, or how to use it 😅

    • @MsHealingLotus
      @MsHealingLotus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use an electric kettle. The moment it is done I use that water to fill my bowl and pre heat it and to soften the bamboo whisk. Then I refill my kettle and do a second boil. Use that water the moment it clicks off to fill in bowl. As long as you have a proper bowl, whisk and ceremonial grade Matcha, the water can be boiling level. I don't have a kettle that gets higher, so I use the water at peak heat each time.

    modern tools like the frother works better and faster than the traditional method of bamboo whisk. 100% and without any doubt. but we get it. you're a zealot. try not intentionally using such a tiny cup/vessel or maybe don't slam it on full blast in order to intentionally make a spill. I'd also argue a modern high quality measuring spoon works better than the bamboo stick. the round/half sphere is the way to go, you get perfect even scoops with no mess and you can use it to sift the matcha through the strainer.
