Could you clarify imensions and weight, please? Also when you're going through those different settings, please could you make sure to specify each setting/voicing etc - say, before playing it? (I can't see the videos, so as clear/concise description on settings being demoed is especially important.)
I just bought this off of a friend for $50 and I love the variety of tones and effects included. I had my apartment broken into and all my gear was taken so I'm in the process of rebuilding and this makes a good addition to my new collection. I'm an advanced player and enjoy using this as a practice amp.
I got this as my first amp recently. For me as a beginner, it does everything I need it to do. I get a bunch of cool effects to mess around with, and some great tones too.
@@5MinuteMusic Thank you for making these videos! I watched a lot of your older ones on the Champion 20. They were really helpful when I was deciding on which amp to buy.
Bass 10 Treble 7 Gain 4 Blackface orange Chorus green level 2 I also find that if you want a drive setting and don't have a pedal just leave at this setting and turn the gain up to 8 or above
I just got into practicing guitar. So far 3 weeks in and I now have 3 amps champion 20, Line 6 spider jam, black star fly 3. From my short experience they all had a unique sounds that is different. I love the sound and quality of each. My first guitar was a eBay squire type that Is excellent but recently purchased a Squire Infinity Stratocaster that feels and sounds better!
Had this little practice amp a couple years ago. Really good in my opinion for practicing. Loved the effects on it. Gave to someone that needed an amp. I have amps, but I'm thinking about picking up another one cuz I liked it alot!
I turned my Champion 20 into a boutique mini head, with a glamorous cover and it's fantastic, both aesthetically and as a head. connected to a 2x12 it doesn't have the volume of a 100 watt but in terms of sound it is unmatched!
I really like the fact that this is a fairly simple amp by current standards. To my mind some of the modelling amps are just too complex for their own good and it would take me half a day to find what I’m looking for. Time I’d rather spend playing guitar. Also only £117 here in the U.K. which is not a lot of money.
I used one to demo a new telecaster today with no interest in the amp. But I was quickly surprised by how good it sounds. It also sounds much bigger than it is. Said 125 bucks on the tag and I decided to just buy the damn thing. Bought the American telecaster too 👍🏻😎 I was only interested in the clean sound though. Couldn’t comment on how it sounds dirty. I don’t really play driven stuff. But the clean was great and the delay and reverb sounded good too
As an alternative, I recommend the fender rumble series amps. They're bass amps but fender has a history of sought after bass amps for guitar and I'd include these with them as well. They are very loud, yet warm for a solid state amp, with perfect clarity. They're perfect pedal platforms for beginners, and even the 25 is loud enough with a drummer. The 25 has a distortion setting, bass mid and treb dials, and also really nice, a built in contour button which adds an eq preset. I'd say the benefit of this is if you play other ins like keys since the speaker is meant to handle low frequencies as well as high and it has an even eq
Great video. From what I can gather, this is the Squire "Classic Vibe" Telecaster, correct? What do you think of this guitar for the money? It looks like it sits between a standard Fender and the Squire teles. Thank you.
I think it is fantastic for the money! It is also easily upgraded. Just add some brass saddles and new electronics and you have upgraded your guitar. Then, you can also upgrade the pickups if you want and buff the back of the neck with some 0000 Steel Wool, and you have an amazing guitar. You can do all of these upgrades and still end up near the Fender Player series Tele price, and probably have a better guitar!
If you want to step it up, check out the champion 100. Around $350 but it's all the amp you need. I ended up selling mine, getting a deville then baught a bunch of pedals. I want my champion 100 back. It's that good. So for the money the champ 20 is WAY worth it.
Hey man I bought this exact amp today and I'm really looking forward to getting it delivered. Thank you for this intro to it and yes, I will subscribe to your channel!
You have done a lot of great videos reviewing and giving tips on the Champion 20. I know it is built for electric guitars, but the Acoustasonic 15 seems so blah. Is the Champion 20 totally unsuitable for an acoustic with a pickup? I like the idea of having other effects like delay?
Thanks for the review! I just ordered one via your link so you get credit for it! The link showed as of today it was at only $129 what a deal for such a great sounding amp at that price range!
@@5MinuteMusic I basically purchased this for the clean Fender sound w/ delay which I will be playing about 90% of the time. For jazz I use my little DV Mark amp! Oh and I also purchase yopur 5 minute sounds of Champion 20. Great tips on dialing in those EQs. I would have never been able to figure it out and thats with over 30 years of playing. Best $9 I spent!
Hi I only use this Amp to sing only Karaoke, noticed have it for some time now over a year A hissing sound is occurring any thing I need to get or add to eliminate this sound
I've bought this amp one year ago for ibanez rg121 with dimarzio evolution upgrade to have some modern hard rock and metal tones, clearly i would say it is an absolute beginner amp, with clean settings you should use with low gain in order to avoid disrupting the sound, in addition to this metal settings, there are significant difference between three options but still it sounds hoarse and retro, perhaps it is all about guitar but overall you shouldn't expect too much from this box, it would be better to use for basic practice and not to get older the other gears
I just found this, and ill say this. I own a quilter block, ive had fenders modeling stuff, and the facts are this. I have a champ XD, i play live with alot! This amp and the 40watt siund like a Fender, almost if not as good as a tube amp. The red knib fenders are as good. The combo of a fender circuit and their speaker are classic. I have a 40 W i play country or in a country band with also. I just pack up what i feel like when its time.
@tankdarla637 yeah very similar. I got the chamade week ago. The clean sound beats the orange but the METAL setting isn't as good as the overdrive channel on the orange..
You can get most guitar styles from any kind of amp, it’s down to the player knowing how to edit the amp parameters, knowing what effects to use subtly and how well the player interacts with his instrument and amp, so it’s about feeling, tone and creativeness.
Hi, I've got a Fender Champion 20. Does anyone else find it makes a chirping noise when guitar volume is set at either 0 (zero) or 10 (ten). This happens with multiple guitars. Is this a fault or a characteristic of the Fender Chanpion 20? thanks.
you can get close enough with delay or delay and chorus or delay and reverb, whatever it allows 2 of , just delay at a close enough tempo should satisfy and impress your friends
@tankdarla637 yeah provided the amp you have at home has it, some amps don't. now it's usually the cheaper amps, but even then there are some good delay pedals that can be better than the amp. but what i was talking about is the sound they're looking for. so i was just telling them about a few pedals they can use. if you pair a good delay channel with a chorus pedal or flanger, that's how you get Pink Floyd like sounds. although you can't exactly sound like them, since there tone is trademarked, but you can get close. delay by itself is a echo sort of sound, and it only sounds good when it's mixed with other tones. but by itself it's not very good, the main catch with delay, is how far you want that sound to travel. the more delay you add, the more you'll hear the echo. i like it on the lower end.

I was really interest6ed in this amp but I stopped listening at 4:00 because the sound was thin and tinny. Why would you demo with a P90 Tele? A stock Tele, a stock 2 humbucker like a LP or SG or even a Tele with a humbucker wouldn't have given me a better idea.
