Overview of the Fender Champion 20 small practice amplifier. Wonderful little amp for beginners or anyone not wanting to spend a ton of money on an amp and effects to get started!
I found this channel while looking at a Champion 20 on an auction site. Not only is this video very informative, it is straight to the point with none of the nonsensical BS you get with a lot of other channels. I found exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for making my decision an easy one. Subscribed!
I have this amp, and I wish I had found a video like this when I first got it five years ago. Better late than never, and this is still helpful. One thing I wish Fender had done was make the voice and effects knobs click when the setting changes, instead of having the light change color.
Great job by the my girlfriend just purchased one yesterday for me and it was a great choice that she made of this amplifier that rocks for something so small thank you again for your event I appreciate this
I use this amp in my apartment fot Late night practice. Headphone and aux input features are extremely handy. Thanks for the tutorial. Is also a good choice for a beginner amp. Lots of flextbility with this amp. I also use a Super Champ X2 for home recording. Similar effects but with a tube power section. Handy dandy little amps.
Very Cool, Thankyou. Have a 1980's Fender Sidekick 15R that is still going strong. Awesome cleans and Pedal Platform. Have been looking for a Champion to come available locally. This was very useful, thanks.
Thanks for the great explanation. Mine arrived yesterday and I am liking the features so far. Quick question: Does your amp make a "pop" sound when you power off? Cheers.
Yo i have a question. I was jamming at my schools music room with my drummer on this amp, orange metal channel, gain 10, and volume at around 5-6. I noticed the sound started breaking up a bit. Will it damage anything if i keep it at that volume level or higher?
I have a fender jaguar CP HH and I wonder how would it sound with a big muff pi /w tone wicker. Aiming for pink floyd solos maybe? Or fuzzed up smashing pumpkins rhytms? Idk any piece of advice would be great.
I have a ? do you no anything about the 100 watts.w.r bass amp. it turns on but all i get is a humming noise and sound very low any idea's I always use fender i got his one for free and trying to figure out what it could be. thank you☮
I bought on of these and it doesn't sound anything like this, in fact it is crap and I'm sending it back, it gives a hell of a loud crack everytime I switch it off.
I haven’t had issues. But it is what it is with less expensive amps like this they work until they don’t unlike fixable vintage amps but they’re also a lot cheaper to acquire.
How can I achieve Cigarettes after sex tone with this amp? I’m a total beginner and will buy Squier Stratocaster HSS to learn and looking for a budget beginner amplifier with a good reverb to achieve their tone. Would appreciate your help!
@@gshep42 ...I have the three versions of this amp, 20, 40, 100 ..amp has never broke up...I think it's all in your mind.... consider yourself forgiven. 😉
I got one used, for $100 bucks. ..it came with an Epiphone SG, the bolt on neck kind, ...not the g400, ..in an Epiphone es335 Dot archtop hardcase. ..was that an ok deal? ..🤷 ..🍍🏌️
Picked one of these up for 50 bucks in a pawn shop to use with my harp. I already loved this thing but now I know how much more I can do thanks dude.
WOW ! IT IS A GREAT AMP ..
It's very useful how comprehensive this video is without any unnecessary fluff.
Trying to get right to the meat and potatoes! No peanut butter and fluff!
best vid of someone with this amp!

Thanks for going through the settings the way you did. Helpful to hear the tones using the same chords.
Glad it was useful for you!!

Of the 20 watt solid state amps I've researched THIS champion has the best overall reviews so... I'm getting one
This video gave me a good education on the settings for my Champion 20. Thanks.
Great video and explanation. Looks like I found a perfect bedroom amp for all the tones I love. Thank you very much
Thank you!! It gets it done for sure.

Best amp demo I've ever seen. Thank you :)
Thank you so much for the kind words!

My first tube amp was the Vibro champ XD and I loved it! The effects on this make me nostalgic for that amp.
Thanks! Don’t think I could go wrong with this as plug and play amp for home practice
It’s honestly surprisingly good sounding!
@@gshep42 ..why surprising ?.... it's a FENDER !
i just ordered this amp
this video made me so excited
Good deal! You’ll enjoy it!
Convinced me to buy one.

You’re welcome! They are wonderful amps once you get the lay of the land, or controls. I’m glad this was helpful.
Thank you, want to pair it with a reworked Squire Affinity Telecaster. Don't need most of the settings but it has all that I'll need...
Not a 50 dollar amp unless you are buying a used one. These are typically $149 or 129 (on sale.)
That is true, I got this one used!
I did buy used. Like an absolute savage

Best amp ever
Wonderful amplifier for sure!
Do you know if the Fender Champion 25 ll is any better worse or the same as this one? I don't think they make the 20 anymore.

Great video, thank you.
Is a good amplifier to play in a Church??
Sure!
really tempted to try an American Sound pedal going into the front of one of these!
Do it!
Does each fx remember the last used tap rate or do they reset to a default when you chose another effect or turn the amp off?
One question. Does it have a speaker out jack?

Hmmm not sure, maybe take it to an amp tech?

They all do the crack when you turn it off, unfortunately.
@@gshep42 Yep! Mine has the nasty loud pop!
a workaround would be to plug your headphones in before switching off.@@muhammadsteinberg
Know the setting for Santana?
Cool alot staff on it i will llok one tks
Very helpful, thanks!
Have you ever had any issues with this amp? I am kind of leery of buying amps with a lot of built-in effects.

@@gshep42I bought it. You don't have a link, man, I wanted you to get a piece of the pie because you sold it, so to speak.
I just bought this thank you

Thanks!
what kind of guitar do you have?
How can I achieve Cigarettes after sex tone with this amp? I’m a total beginner and will buy Squier Stratocaster HSS to learn and looking for a budget beginner amplifier with a good reverb to achieve their tone. Would appreciate your help!
This would do it for you I bet! Lots of great reverb sounds in here. If you don’t need it to be loud I’d say this is a good choice.
Appreciate your reply, thanks a lot! Will go for it!
Is it normal that this amplifier makes the pop sound when you turn it off? I'm kinda new with this things :)
Unfortunately, yes it is normal. I forgot to mention that in the video. I played a new one in the story the other day and it did the same thing…
@@gshep42that's useful info for a beginner like me, I thought I might have been doing something wrong turning my amp off
How to set for sweet child of mine
this or mustang or marshall code 25?
All probably just as good depending on what you paid for each. This I got used quite cheap.
If a person bought 8 of them and hooked them together, would it be enough for a stadium... but a lot cheaper than a professional concert amp?
I like your thinking! It would get loud for sure lol
Note:
Effect "VIB"=Vibratone (not Vibrato)
