    Linnseed paint is good and you can make it yourself. It stops rot because it's breathable.

      The problem with paint or oils as explored in the video, is that you have to regularly reapply it. SSB once and the product is protected using the oils naturally in the timber.

      @@dportercontracting9974 ok thanks I will try this method however I will use linnseed paint instead of plastic paint outside because you don't need to take off old failed layers which traps the water and causes damp. Once painted on bare wood you only have to add oil every 7-10 years and never need to paint again unless you want a colour change. No stripping of old paint needed ever again. I've mix zinc oxide with a raw earth material like iron oxide More turpentine and linseed oil on the first coat. Old used rags are flammable!
      Apparently a lot heritage has been lost because the window rot with post war paint.

    Did you check back on this job to see that the weatherboards didn't warp, with you only treating one side of the boards?

      Ha cheers for the props James. The shoes are Merrells. They have been a cracking pair and lasted 3 years now. Mind you, they are pretty much falling off my feet now..
