My dog is EXTREMELY picky!!! We have spent close to $1000 on different kibbles, canned, raw, and cooked foods trying to get him to eat..... we are now working on tough love with it but it has been a HUGE stressor on me since he’s a puppy.
@@dhayarose come to find out he actually has severe food allergies and the reason he wouldn’t eat was because his stomach hurt all the time. He now has to eat hydrolyzed protein food and he eats good now!
My puppy is 8 weeks old. He refuses to eat kibble. I tried mixing wet food in with his kibble but he’s so smart he’ll eat the wet food and leave the kibble 🤦🏾♀️. I tried a different kibble and he does the same thing. When I first gave him kibble he tried eating it but it kept falling out of his mouth and after that he lost interest.
Pongo The Poodle kibble is honestly the lowest quality dog food you can buy so I’d consider switching to either wet or raw! If that’s not in your budget try mixing in stela and chewys and adding water to make it soup-y and soft so it doesn’t fall out of his mouth
So important to start by ruling out health concerns. You definitely don't want to leave your puppy sick & untreated! My puppy's a pretty good eater but I will keep this video in mind just in case. Ah yes, always check the expiry date! Cheers!
I've tried everything with my picky girl. Also tried sprinkling raw food or wet food on her kibble. But she will literally only pick out the raw food and spit out any kibble she accidentally eats 🤦♀️. We've tried many different brands of food also. Feeling stuck with my pomsky. ♡love love the video. Very informative!
My dog will no longer eat bone broth either. So now I have to get this expensive pumpkin and shredded chicken topper from wellness and she's a big dog. She won't eat anything else
I got my dog 7 years ago and from day one when he was a puppy he hated dry or wet dog food. I can't let him starve so he eats table scraps or I even smoke some meat on my smoker and he eats that. He's about three pounds overweight from eating this food. I've tried every wet or dry dog food on the market, even bought the real expensive stuff and he still turned his nose to it. It's a constant struggle with him.
Dogs won't starve themselves. They eventually eat something if they're really hungry. Is more about us trying to humanize theny. Being consistent is key. Stop feeding it scrapes and human food, youry actually killing your dog slowly. It needs a well balanced meal, that's why it's overweight.
Same I have 3 adopted dogs, 2 of them they eat wet food and the other she's a small Yorkshire and she doesn't eat dog food I feed her chicken, tuns, salmon and steak
My dog is the same, guess I'm to blame, he ate kibble when we first got him 3 years ago but we started feeding him wet food, then he turns his nose up to that, he will eat the cat's food but mostly he eats chicken, turkey and he loves cheese. My vet says he won't starve, he will eventually eat but when I try that, he throws up yellow bile, like his stomach is empty and I hate to see him starve so I end up feeding him what he eats
i had to change brand but only for few days , now have tp give other homemade food, with carrots sweet potatoes meat etc... and blend some of the kibbles to mix in it ..
My dog was on raw food when I picked her up at 8 weeks old and from day one she’s been such a pain to get her to eat. I have no changed to a freeze dried raw sort of kibble form. She used to eat it without picking but now is refusing. We’ve been to the vets multiple times, blood tests the lot and she’s perfectly healthy. It’s driving me insaine 😭
hannah west there are so many diff types of raw food DONT give up! Have you tried adding raw goat milk? You can also try fresh cooked dog food (farmers fresh) I have one dog who won’t eat raw but will if it’s Primal brand. I would def try switching it up because dogs eat what their body needs. That might not be doing it for her!
I have a six moth old 42lbs goldendoodle that wont touch any type of kibble no matter what I add to it or if I freeze it. He use to eat it not any more. My other dog eats dr havreys paradigm food and my puppy always wants to eat my older dogs food. I was just thinking about abandon kibble for every and just feed him dr harveys canine food. However, been reading that puppies need kibble???
Pumpkin encourages my dog. Also petway let him try the kibble blends. He had an upset tummy put him off the previous blend. He blamed the throw up on the kibble abd ate ned blend no problem. Pumpkin keeps his gut straight.
I'd recommend sticking with home-cooked meals or raw food for her then :) Kibble is similar to us humans eating corn flakes daily...it can get boring. If you must feed kibble you can always mix in crockpot home-cooked meals anyway, which will be more nutritious than just kibble by itself, as Kibble has very few nutrients (they've all been cooked out). If you can feed raw, even better.
my dog is VERY picky and I recently got a new brand of kibble and she eats some of it and leaves the rest and I tried adding water to it and she still didn’t finish it. I’m thinking about adding in different toppers like meat for her night feed and what breakfast/morning food do you recommend? I recently added a homemade smoothie to the kibble for her morning feeding and she ate it all!! I’m scared she will eventually get to used to it and stop eating it, how do you recommend I add variety to the kibble.
My puppy is so picky he won’t eat anything that resembles kibble including foods from ZIWI. As of right now the only food he’ll eat is the primal raw food
I tried all different kind of proteins but my puppy wants to be spoon-fed and like human food like boiled chicken or meat !! What should I do? I tried mixing wet food with dry food but she still wants to be spoon or hand-fed !! Should I put her food for 30 mins and remove the bowl and wait till she gets really hungry?
Yes you can put out the door 6x per day if needed but don’t just leave it out. Try that for a few days. Also not just diff proteins but maybe try diff toppings as well! I will sometimes do ground turkey in a crock pot and mix that into their food. You can also try broth as well!
When my dog for some (unclear) reason denies the kibble he usually eats just fine, and I HAVE TO feed him (he has gastritis, so no big breaks in-between meals are allowed), I put the same kibble in the sniffing carpet.. He suddenly eats it without any problems:) Since it’s more fun I guess, and he actually “found it” himself))As well would work for fast eaters btw, as the process takes around 10-15min. Could be helpful if your sure all the mentioned in the video possible reasons are crossed out.
Your dog is so cute! I've done a pet first aid course and this is so helpful! always great to go through the list before contacting your vet. Saves you $$!!!
My puppy is 4 months old I got him when he was 9 weeks. I’ve had him for about 2 months now, and at fist he always loved eating and always got excited when it was time to eat. This past week it seems he lost all that energy when it comes to eating. He doesn’t t want to eat from his bowl anymore. The only time he eats now is when I drop his food on the floor or hand feed him myself. He just sniffs his food and walks away now. He takes 1 or 2 pieces and then leaves it for hours and takes another bite or 2
I have the same problem i've had her 9 months now..she always excited to eat any brand of kibble...but now suddenly lost interest in kibble..when i add hot water to it she will finish the bowl(but only for a week) and then now she will leave the food for hours to eat little by little
I have a 10 month old maltipoo. He is so picky. He loved Stella and chewy freeze dried for the longest time and quit eating it. Now he’s on Ollies and loved it and now won’t eat it. I’ve tried kibble and sprinkling Stella and chewy magical dinner dust and he licks it off. I’m torn. I don’t know what to do.
Have you tried pouring Primal Bone Broth over his food? Some pups are just more picky than others. My mini doodle is the same way - I always switch up her toppings to keep it interesting. If you think about it - humans don't eat the same thing every day. We'd get bored too!
My border collie is so picky! I put his kibble in the microwave and heat it for 10 to 20 seconds. For now it is working. I come back here to tell you guys if it will work longer. He stayed like 5 days without food.
Yeahh most deffff my dog is a picky eater. My parents end up giving him treats or giving him human food if he doesnt eat his dry/wet dog food. Then this became a serious habit. Sometimes my dog will go more than half the day of not eating and just drinking water, most of the time i see him looking through our baskets cause we have his treats there
I refused to give him/change my dogs food until he fisnished his plate. after 3 days he finally eate his food. Hasnt been picky since. You need to train/educate your dog, not spoil him.
Hi, I have a 1 year old Shih tzu. She had a phase where she vomited anything she ate and had diarrhea so we took her to the vets and they said it was probably Gastroenteritis. They gave us some medicine and wet food that we’ve been trying to give her although it is still quite hard to get her to take all of them everyday. She seemed to get better for the first few days but she has vomited about 2 times. When we called the vet they told us to continue giving her the food they gave us although she won’t eat for the most of it. She does eat a bit but certainly not enough. Usually about 2 tablespoons twice a day and shes 10 lbs and sometimes does not wanna have one of the 2 meals. They told us we could come to do bloodwork and then a scan of that doesn’t work but it cost 220 $ each on top of the 350 $ we already paid. at first they had told us the scan and bloodwork was 40 $ but now they changed their story. It is so much money on top of it they’d have to get more done. They also told us to not feed her any more human food because it used to be almost her whole diet ( we usually fed her rice and chicken) since she would not accept her dog food and this could cause further problems. At the moment I’m trying to feed her twice a day by hand instead of 3 times in her bowl and take her on walks before her meals. Is there anything you suggest trying to get her to eat?
some ways to get creative: 1. add bone broth/goats milk (you can get at the natural pet food store, I love Primal brand) 2. Add some water, mix in some PLAIN chicken/pumpkin 3. Like you said, feed by hand... Ultimately, if it's a medical issue though, you will need to pay for the vet to diagnose her. I am not a vet, and even if I was, vets cannot diagnose online. Wishing you the best! I would consider pet insurance for the future. I learned the hard way!
i am quite frustated with my dog being very picky to the point i gave up. I tried everything, change bunch of kibbles, dry food, wet food, boiled protein as topper, cooked food, vitamins, ask my vet, and friends. its totally up to her if she wants to eat or not. because im sick and tired throwing A LOT of food to waste that she refuses to eat although i serve her fresh every time.
oh yeah, i tried raw food too, she just ate for few days and then she refuses to eat the next few days. it's like i have to figure out what she wants on that day. i am so tired spending money on different kind of dry/wet /raw/etc etc dog food and everything goes to bin.
@@giannimozanihusin6978 same but have you tried chicken and rice, or maybe she does that because she has dental problems like maybe her gums are paining so it makes her not eat. Try taking kibble and add broth or warm water to it, or do 50% wet food and 50% kibble and mix it up
Nice tips Lisa, little Milo is somewhat picky and we've been trying mixing freeze dried raw with some success, unfortunately the people we adopted him from was probably feeding him scraps, first thing we noticed from day one. Appreciate all the tips!
Hello, Toby my dog had been eating homemade fresh food ground chicken with vegetables but suddenly he stopped eating g the hat an other foods, but if I give him a piece of bread for example he will easily eat it. Is he being extremely picky? What do I do?
I have a Bernese mountain dog, she’s 4 months old and is a pain for not eating her kibble! We mix wet food with it and all she does is pick at the wet and leave the kibble 🙈 definitely think we need to try an change the flavour
Yes my dog is a picky eater....she doesn't like kibbles....we have to put some treats inside the Kong along with her kibbles....then she eats....i am really worried about her food...how to fulfill the nutritional requirements with homefood....she is ok to eat boiled chicken... with some vegetables....but she gets bored of one type food very soon...her name is Luna...8months old shih tzu...
My dog used to eat every brand of kibble and shw love kibble very much...but at 11 month age suddenly she lost interest in kibble and doesnt want to eat it, just messing around with the kibble...and then and i try to put hot water with the kibble until soupy and she likes it (but only for a week) .now she still eat kibble with hot water but still not like used to be...she will leave the food for 30 minutes and eat it but not finish it...
I just took in my sister's dog that she's been abusing and he's only been eating cat food for 4 years. I got him yesterday and tried dry food and then tried mixing canned and dry. He just looked at me like I was stupid. I ended up just grilling an extra chicken breast with no seasoning on it. I barely have time to cook for myself so if I have to start making dog food.
Yeah...mine is very picky...he got used to wet food...I usually boil rice and chicken thigh together and feed it to my puppy...but I want him to eat dry food as I don’t have time to cook chicken and rice.
I would never feed 100% kibble as it's not really good quality food to feed your dog. If you can at least do half and half, incorporate some raw feeding, or do home cooked food toppers that would be ideal!
My dog LOVES wet food, but hates the dry food. I tried mixing and he just picks out all the wet food 😭 is it okay for him to just eat wet food forever? He wont eat otherwise
Omg, my toy poodle is super picky, he refused to eat kibble when we got him at 12 weeks with 2.4 lbs. We tried many kinds and a friend recommended Ziwi Peak, he loved it but later in he was teething and we feed him homemade since he had no teeth but guess what? He didnt want to go back to Ziwi 😩 he’s 9 months now and we are just sticking with Ziwi peak.
My puppy wouldn't eat so my mom cut up a treat and put one piece in his food, we also wet it just incase he had a lose tooth from teething and it worked, his face was in the food bowl for so long just eating lol oh he's 8 weeks! Got him 6 days ago so still new and trying different things out Update: that worked for like 1 meal and then he just ate the treats and left the food lol. But it's been about 2 months since I had him and he eats all his food in about 3 mins lmao he started eating everything after about a week after that so his 2nd week with us, just give your puppy time and patience 💛 Also wet food isn't good for puppies that much since eating hard kibble will help their teeth !!! Stick with hard food
Very picky he’s 17 weeks and he’s been like this from day one. I have to hand feed him and the next day he won’t eat the same food. He’s Like this every thing. Canned food. Rachel ray wet food. And dry
Some ideas: #1 - as mentioned, you should def see the vet if he's not eating. #2 - have you tried diff food toppers? Primal sells bone broth / goats milk you can pour over their kibble. There's also "dog sushi" they sell at the natural food store (it's basically the japanese topper Furikake aka fish flakes but cleaner version). You can mix it into their kibble to make it more appetizing. #3 - I personally feed my pups raw because that's what my vet says is best to feed the pups! #4 - slow cook some turkey ground in a crock pot and mix it into their kibble :)
gina koch my dog is exactly the same. He’s a cockapoo coming up to 1 year old. If I happen to find something he likes, he will eat it once then won’t even look at it the next day. For 3 or 4 days there (as I was so desperate) I put a little melted cheese over the kibble and mixed it in. Yes he ate that, but now he’s so over it. I tried raw minced steak a few weeks ago, day 1 he loved it, second day wouldn’t go near it. He’s a mystery dog....
My dog is so picky she won’t eat kibble, wet food, and she will only be excited about raw food for like 2 days She is definitely not eating how much she is supposed to she kind of likes samon oil and egg
My 4 months old Maltese she so picky about foods. Our vet told us she eat only when she feels hungry, stop forcing her to eat. I tried feeding her wet and dry foods as well as additional toppings. Nothing works....all her foods are premium and human grades. All my previous dogs are not picky as her. We take her out to walk daily to wear her out, so she'll tried and hungry. It's not the case.
I'm picky too! :) And I can't have veggies after I eat too! I have to have them before, then they are tasty! LOL ... I love that you have a dog parents group! I wish I had a dog. I'm getting close Lisa~!!!! ~Elizabeth
My puppy is about 10 weeks old right now, she won’t eat and I tried wet food, dry food, and boiled chicken and rice but I’m scared and honestly waiting for the vet to hopefully say she’s picky
My chihuahua had first N&D, then stopped eating, i change with royal canin mini, he loved it. So i bought 4kg. And he doest want it.. I get a new puppy, both dont want fo eat, they want our food. Tgat is not healthy for them. I will try sprinckle something on top
My dog has recently been throwing up his food and it’s not digested making me assume he swallows his kibbles and wet food out. How can I teach him to not swallow his food which possibly result in him throwing up!!!?
I buy freeze dried chicken, put it in the food processor, and sprinkle it over my dog’s food. Then he can’t just pick out the freeze dried chicken bits :)
My dog is used to eating scraps from my family members and now we have realised that he has lost his appetite because of it so we have stopped but he is still not eating properly, he tastes 1-2 bits and then move away from it. Any tips so he can get back to normal eating cycle ?
My dog was eating her food and we were giving her wet and dry food and she was fine but one she stopped but she is very picky so we thought she was just having a temper tantrum like she does, but she still won't eat but we gave her some cold soup and she ate that she so you know how to in courge a dog to eat its food
My dog is becoming extremely picky. It's cause of my dad and my sister's bf. They keep giving her scraps and his excuse is that "no person would want to eat that everyday" like aight boy then YOU make her the damn proteins and nutrients she needs from your spicyass noodle soup. Smh yall
My puppy labrador is used to eat hot dogs or human food and now i bought her dog food for puppy up to 4 months and she doesn't eat it, i hope someone can help
I just rescued a dog from a heroin addict that only would feed her dog whipped cream and chicken nuggets and Vienna sausages and ice cream and other junk food I'm trying to break her of that and get her to start eating regular dog food she is a little deer head chihuahua that it should be about 3 and 1/2 lb she is only about one and a half pounds so she is extremely skinny and she acts like she is scared to drink water and acts like she is scared to eat food what do I do?
Hi..my don like to eat.. unless for chicken bone, liver n gizzard.. she don even eat salmon, eggs, chic or beef.. she like to eat crab n prawn.. other than dat.. I need to force feed her everyday.. I m so tired of doing dat.. pls help
If I could go back and re do what I did. My puppy loved the first food I gave him and his stools were fine, I found a new food that I thought looked super great- gave him b a d diarrhea. So I had to switch him to bland diet food from the vet that he ended up loving. But it doesn’t have enough nutrients long term for a puppy so he then turned his nose up to his regular food. Our trainer recommended a different brand so we switched and it’s getting better, he is very food motivated and I gave him lots of treats as praise and as he was learning. Also I mix wet and dry but when we switched to the bland diet they only had wet - now he only wants wet. So if I could go back I would A. Stick with the same food I started with. B do very minimal wet food. C. Not give treats near meal time ever only during training.
Every time I feed my dog kibble he sits there staring at me and doesn’t eat it. I tried putting it in a kong and I was happy that it worked but then after a few days he didn’t want it again then I tried wetting it and it worked for a few days before he didn’t like it anymore and I always have to come up with something new and different for him to eat and it’s exhausting. When someone else feeds him he’s a good boy and eats it but when I feed him he refuses it until I give him chicken. Why does he do this only when I feed him? It’s really frustrating and I don’t know what to do.
I don’t even know how to feed my dog anymore! Cause it’s so picky, and already tried so many pet foods but didn’t one of them would eat it. Everytime when him didn’t want to eat it, and it will start throwup all out from his body.. 😣
I think my GSD is a very, very picky eater. I've switched foods several times and added various toppings or mix-ins but she gets tired of it all and refuses to eat until I add something new. Right now, she's refusing to eat. I know she's waiting for me to add something new again but this time I'm not giving in. She's gotta learn to eat her food without being spoiled all the time.
@@reyesjustenecarelf.2961 she's still a stubborn eater but the situation has improved. I now feed her less, so she's hungry when I feed her, and I mix in different things into her kibble. I feed her about 1.5 cups of food per meal now instead of two cup. Switch up the additives between chicken stock, beef stock and wet dog food. I always add a little handful of "shredded mexican cheese". For my GSD, you cannot feed her the same mix of food for more than two days at a time.... no matter what it is. If you do, she looks at you with disappointment and will leave her food until there is something different. She definitely loves the salt and moisture from the stock...she definitely loves the cheese. Sometimes she'll refuse to eat the kibble with a bit of stock until I add the cheese.
@@reyesjustenecarelf.2961 twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I give treats when deserved. I found out that too many treats or too much food makes her stubborn. I gave her a bone "just because" one day. She didn't eat for a two days. She wasn't sick, she figured out that the food I've been giving her wasn't the same quality as that bone....she wanted premium food all the time.
TacticalPanda thank you for the details. It's been 4 days and I can't figure out my dogs' stomach. I feed them at lunch and dinner. Sometimes, they eat so little at lunch and many at dinner, sometimes it's vice versa, and sometimes they eat a little both at lunch and dinner. It is really frustrating if they did not finish their food for the day. I keep throwing away their leftovers. I feed them boiled chicken, boiled pork and boiled beef with dog food.
My 6 month old puppy refuses to eat kibble without dog meat in can. I wanted to stop her from eating kibble with dog meat in can because she might get a heart attack or something. Help please how to stop her from eating kibble with dog meat in can?
Canned dog food usually is higher in protein and Kibble has a lot of the nutrients kicked out. Are you talking about canned dog food? If so, why are you trying to cut that out?
@@LisaGallegos yes i'm talking about canned dog food. I wanted to cut it out because i heard that my sister's friend has a pomeranian who eats a pedigree canned dog meat had died. The pomeranian got heart problems because of the pedigree canned dog meat. And i got afraid of it so i wanted to stop my puppy from eating it. I want to mix my puppy's kibble with carrots or potatoes.
My dog had her neutering surgery last week. After which I was feeding her recovery pouch for fast healing as she d lost alot of blood during surgery ( vet said) . As of two days ago i started mixing the pouch with dry food. She licks it off n spits the knibbles out. She was never picky before n now I m getting worried about future
Just curious, were you able to get her back to her old diet? My dog has somehow become spoiled and very picky and I wonder if its gonna be a struggle forever.
Yes my dog is very picky to the point that even if I cook for her she refuses to eat... now the puppy is learning from her is starting to be picky. So frustrating!
Mine is extremely picky - he hates kibble...I have tried 6 different kinds. He eats the last one I bought, but maybe a small handful is all in a day. He loves treats, but only certain kinds and he has an issue with throwing up after he eats, but not all the time - I do not feed him some things anymore because of this. I have had him to the vet a couple of times and I get the feeling they think I am the problem - they are not hearing me. This dog was in 2 other homes before I adopted him. The first young couple dropped him off at their neighbors and did not tell her they were not going to be back to get him. I think she knew his eating habits, but did not tell me - she led me to believe he was eating what her 2 dogs were eating, the only thing she told me was he would steal food out of her grandson's hands. He is an American Eskimo and they get medium sized - I have had them before, but never ever had one this picky. It is an issue I have never had to deal with before - all my other dogs ate and questioned what they had after the fact. He has not tried to grab from mine, but he sits and looks longingly at me to feed him from my plate...I hate it. I have cooked lean meats for him, tried raw, mixed bone broth into the kibble he will not eat it. I have bought stuff to spread on his dry food and he will not eat it, I have bought wet food and he does not like that, I have mixed his food with low fat cottage cheese, but he does not eat that, just the cottage cheese. I am truly frustrated and wonder why I got this dog - it is a stress I did not need. I am at my wits end. I have tried veggies in with boneless/skinless chicken, he will not eat it even if it was cooked in some chicken broth. He won't eat a raw egg, I cook the eggs and he will only eat the white part of the egg, it just seems like everything he likes to eat is not good for him and I had a dog I had to cook for before I got this one because she had a case of pancreatitis and I had hoped I would not have to do this again. A lot of cooked food goes to waste because he will not eat it more than 2 days in a row. He will not eat hamburger unless it is freshly cooked, otherwise he will leave it set. Tried putting other things with it - like some shredded cheese melted over it - it might eat it a day after if I do that, but will not eat all of it. I want him to be a happy pup and I want to be happy too, but we are no where near close to that and I am wondering if I need to find a new home for him because I apparently am not getting it right. I wanted a companion, but not this issue!!
Thanks for watching my video. A lot of these questions can be resolved with the following answers: 1. Keep being creative. Have you tried pouring bone broth into your pups food? Have you tried feeding raw (like Primal brand is great for beginner raw feeders)? Have you tried adding water? Get creative :) 2. Some of these questions sound like questions you need to talk to your vet about. I am not a vet, and I don't personally know your pup, so it's hard to me to answers some of these. Please consult your vet if you are concerned! 3. STOP feeding your pup table scraps. It encourages begging (from a training perspective) and human food is usually not good for your pup.
So here's my situation. My mother in law gave me 1 mo. Old puppy, a mongrel, this pup's mother never ate dog food. At first, i feed her milk, then bought her a dog food. She Ate it, the next day refuses .. IDK but i was forced to give cooked food. But tonight, me and my wife only eat vegetables, so nothing for the dog but her dog food. But she doesn't like it. Kinda worried i might starve her. Tried googling but failed.
Hi Lisa :) I have a three years old Cavapoo..have him since 16 weeks old. He used to eat everything. He started to stop eating dog food and only eats mine and some treats He has gradually gone pickier, and now eats hardly anything. Only chicken wings and some of my food. He has stopped eating for up to 48 hours when I refused to offer him something else. So stubborn! And, he brings up acid when he was suppose to be eaten, but hasn't :( He is lively and full of beans otherwise. Pleeeease help.
Yes it has :) I still struggle with him. He's 5.5 now with the same kind of habits.. Sometimes he eats his breakfast for tea! Still very picky, and once a week or so he fasts, which mens sometimes he brings up acid. Ut he's as bubbly as ever..still easier than having a wife :))
@@LisaGallegos already tried that one but all she eat is the raw ang leave the kibble behind such a clever for a 4 months old pup LOL 😂 but it's okay now she kinda like pedigree
HELO My dog eats her kibble but not for me shell eat her full bowl for anybody else but me .... i literally have to bring my neighbor from next door shell eat for her or anybodyelse but me why someone HELP
My dog eats perfectly at my parent’s house, same food bag, but refuses to eat anything at my house. Again, same food, same bag. Because he refuses to eat at my house he barfs on everything.
Do you give him table food or any other treats of high value that he doesn’t get at your parents? Someone in my house accidentally spoiled our dog with table scraps (for free, unearned, not even as a reward for a trick or obedience 🤦♀️!!) So now its war and I’m battling his stubbornness. My dog tries to hold out for table food every mealtime. It is so annoying! He’ll cry when we’re eating sometimes but then he LITERALLY sticks his nose up when I bring him his kibble. After he finally realizes hes not getting any will he eat his food. Unfortunately, hes thrown up bile like 3 times bc his hardheaded ways (btw as bad as it may sound, for those times, I ended up forcing him to eat the first bite of his food and right after he would finish the rest if his bowl willingly) so I understand your frustration on that too. It’s a struggle but it’s also tough love. I’m doing all that I can to stick to my guns, including no free feeding/set meal times only, and trying different kibbles. Hoping that by sharing this it helps!
@@elleo3441 Thanks for the advice. Now that he’s a little over a year he eats much better. He honestly gets more table scraps at my parent’s house, as my house is pretty much nonfunctional in food and hot water. I basically stopped feeding him when we went to my parent’s house. Once he throws up his bile, I usually end up force feeding him a small handful of food. Even going as far as forcing him to swallow it like how you get them to swallow pills. After about one or two kibble, he’ll take individual pieces of kibble, then the handful, then he’ll eat fine. Currently he’s getting a new type of dog food and about two or even three tablespoons of canola oil. That’s going to back off soon, but I want to see his coat and skin get less rough. There was a miscommunication somewhere along the way and he ended up on adult dog food (not even all life stages) at like 9 or 10 months. He’s on a higher fat and protein dog food now. Honestly, ingredient wise, it looks like his puppy food but more simple. He’s allergic to several different foods and we were worried that either he had gained a new allergy to ingredients or something else. He’s doing better now, and the food he’s on now is actually cheaper.
1 of our dogs is extremely picky I buy the 6lbs chicken breasts from Ralph’s and put them in the microwave for 5 mins and then cut them up into his dry food and he will eat it
yes, she will only eat steamed, fresh food. Not kibble, not dried dog food. Am wondering how to get her to eat kibble. She has eaten a couple of kibbles before, but majority of the time she always wants to only eat the steamed fresh beef, veggies, sweet potatoes...
Oh my yes! I just rescued a 1 year old Australian Kelpie 3 days ago. I’m trying to be patient but she won’t eat any kibble at all, she prefers wet food but still won’t eat a lot i’m trying to figure out what to do. I’ve tried different brands and flavors
Yes we alternate between adding beef bone broth, chicken bone broth, and a raw egg. That’ll get her to eat on a schedule right away. I hate the idea of free feeding.
My brother law gave us his chihuahua and they were feeding him table scraps and I tried giving him kibbles n doesnt want them, I even did wet mix food with kibbles and doesnt want it, I dont like feeding him ppl food because I dont want his dropping on the floor be wet because were keeping him in door, I really dont know what to do because I'm not working n buying him expensive food right now is not an option
Marisol Davila keep experimenting. Some ideas: 1. Make your own bone broth and mix in w the kibble. 2. Make a scrambled egg w coconut oil and mix in w his kibble 3. Switch the kibble- my new fav kibble brand is open farm dog food Also does ur pup have a clean bill of health? As I mention talk to your vet first to make sure he’s healthy.
Honestly home cooked meals are better quality than kibble. Switched to plain home cooked meals (without adding salt or spices). You can use home cooked delivery like Farmers Dog, or from there switch to raw (like Primal). I personally feed my dogs raw and that's what I recommend. If that's not in the budget, then you can do half kibble/half raw or home cooked toppers. More and more kibble has been found to be super low quality so I would never recommend feeding 100% kibble.
My dog is just bad habit, she will eat kibble once she realizes we're not paying attention to her cries for scraps, really bad in my part, trying to change her diet for the better
The raw toppers made my dog extremely sick as in a 600 dollar visit. She cannot, she will only eat the Wellness chicken shreds with pumpkin topper, 20 bucks for 12 packs and she's a 60 pounds dog lol. That lasts for 6 days. I'm also trying their chicken and pumpkin wet food for dinner time. She also stopped eating all brands of bone broth even dehydrated, I'm also going to change her dry food up. She is so picky if she doesn't like it she will only eat biscuits and starve like all day, like today, because I am waiting on the mailman to deliver the wet food and toppers. She's extremely spoiled for being a rescue dog, ever since the day I got her lol
My dog is EXTREMELY picky!!! We have spent close to $1000 on different kibbles, canned, raw, and cooked foods trying to get him to eat..... we are now working on tough love with it but it has been a HUGE stressor on me since he’s a puppy.
I’m having the same problems did you find out what was the reason or just how to fix it?
@@dhayarose come to find out he actually has severe food allergies and the reason he wouldn’t eat was because his stomach hurt all the time. He now has to eat hydrolyzed protein food and he eats good now!
I need to feed her like a baby if not she won’t eat nothing
@@airichokeontaco143 I think I have same situation. I have to feed her by spoon or hand or else food not get touch
@@amandadavis107 hi! May I ask how you or the vet find this out? My puppy won’t eat her kibble
Same
My dog is the same way, don't know what to do
Lisa Gallegos - Dog Training I’ll try that
my dog does exact same thing 😂
it’s so frustrating he only like GROUND BEEF
So important to start by ruling out health concerns. You definitely don't want to leave your puppy sick & untreated! My puppy's a pretty good eater but I will keep this video in mind just in case. Ah yes, always check the expiry date! Cheers!
I've tried everything with my picky girl. Also tried sprinkling raw food or wet food on her kibble. But she will literally only pick out the raw food and spit out any kibble she accidentally eats 🤦♀️. We've tried many different brands of food also. Feeling stuck with my pomsky.
♡love love the video. Very informative!
Have you tried pouring bone broth over the food and letting it soak for a little bit? Primal sells bone broth for dogs we can also make your own
My dog will no longer eat bone broth either.
We’ve tried so many different brands. She almost gags when she goes to eat it. Or carries it off and try’s to burry it in a blanket 🤮
Give him probiotics
All my animals love kibble, but I do have an issue with my husband feeding our animals scraps. Great video, Lisa! Thanks 💜
sounds like you'll need to train your husband ;)
Very nice! For any dog owner whose dog won't eat, this video is great!
My sister has the pickiest dog! I'm sending this to her! :)
Yay I hope it helps!
Pumpkin encourages my dog. Also petway let him try the kibble blends. He had an upset tummy put him off the previous blend. He blamed the throw up on the kibble abd ate ned blend no problem. Pumpkin keeps his gut straight.
What if my dog is already used to eat human food
I'd recommend sticking with home-cooked meals or raw food for her then :) Kibble is similar to us humans eating corn flakes daily...it can get boring. If you must feed kibble you can always mix in crockpot home-cooked meals anyway, which will be more nutritious than just kibble by itself, as Kibble has very few nutrients (they've all been cooked out). If you can feed raw, even better.
Love this video. My friend just got a puppy and can't wait to share this advice! (It's a picky pup)
im getting a golden retriever dog! im nervous, so I’m watching different types of dog videos, lol
kedits awww did you get your golden yet?
my dog is VERY picky and I recently got a new brand of kibble and she eats some of it and leaves the rest and I tried adding water to it and she still didn’t finish it.
Justin Leaner kibble isn’t super nutritious so Its good to mix in some fresh food, freeze dried raw (like Stella and chewys) or bone broth always!
Lisa Gallegos - Dog Training THANK YOU! I will start adding in freeze dried raw into their food!!
My puppy is so picky he won’t eat anything that resembles kibble including foods from ZIWI. As of right now the only food he’ll eat is the primal raw food
That’s great he eats primal raw! How old is your puppy? Have you tried the primal treats?
Omg your dog is just the cutest x
Charlie (dog in the video) isn't mine, he's a pup client, but super cute and loves my lap
More like the gayest
I just changed my puppy's food and she won't eat it, it's not expired or anything. She will just smell them walk away, is there anything wrong
Make ur puppy tired and don’t give the pup other food options
Thank you! Charlie (dog on my lap) is a pup client, so not mine...but he's super cute and snuggly
My puppy is 4 months old
I got him when he was 9 weeks.
Sometimes my dog will go more than half the day of not eating and just drinking water, most of the time i see him looking through our baskets cause we have his treats there
sometimes you gotta train the humans first :)
My dog has recently become picky so we try to switch to ore natural and it seems to work. Also he seems to like faster food.
Is there anything you suggest trying to get her to eat?
some ways to get creative:
1. add bone broth/goats milk (you can get at the natural pet food store, I love Primal brand)
2. Add some water, mix in some PLAIN chicken/pumpkin
Great tips! Our dog tries to hold out for people food. 😆 I think her favorite is Salmon though. ❤️
Mom The Chaos Coordinator mmmmm salmon!! 🐟
My cats love kibble, but it makes them heavy-- we just cut it out ! Feed them Raw ---- Love your doggie vids :-)
Yes, raw is the best!
I don't have a dog butI want one in the near future and this video was helpful!
I have a Bernese mountain dog, she’s 4 months old and is a pain for not eating her kibble! We mix wet food with it and all she does is pick at the wet and leave the kibble 🙈 definitely think we need to try an change the flavour
My dog won’t eat her dog food or people food and she keeps throwing up and I’m scared for her (She’s a puppy I rescued)
Yes my dog is a picky eater....she doesn't like kibbles....we have to put some treats inside the Kong along with her kibbles....then she eats....i am really worried about her food...how to fulfill the nutritional requirements with homefood....she is ok to eat boiled chicken... with some vegetables....but she gets bored of one type food very soon...her name is Luna...8months old shih tzu...
my dog liked kibble but then we ran out once and we fed him wet food and now he wont go back to normal kibble
My dog is not picky but she often gets sick when eating human foods so we are very strict with her!
Good insights and I'm sharing with friends.
BWoodPhotography thank you!!!
He wont eat otherwise
have you tried feeding raw or home-cooked? Check out Farmers Market Fido on YT th-cam.com/video/b0d3_ckRbGw/w-d-xo.html
Got him 6 days ago so still new and trying different things out
Update: that worked for like 1 meal and then he just ate the treats and left the food lol. But it's been about 2 months since I had him and he eats all his food in about 3 mins lmao he started eating everything after about a week after that so his 2nd week with us, just give your puppy time and patience 💛
Also wet food isn't good for puppies that much since eating hard kibble will help their teeth !!! Stick with hard food
Same I get those turkey bacon treats and break them up and mix it with his kibble and he eats it all
@UCeLr5pPvt2pOk1MpXQht0vA mine was some original one in green bag for tennie dogs honestly can't remember exactly
Very picky he’s 17 weeks and he’s been like this from day one. I have to hand feed him and the next day he won’t eat the same food. He’s
Like this every thing. Canned food. Rachel ray wet food. And dry
Some ideas:
#1 - as mentioned, you should def see the vet if he's not eating.
He will eat people food he wants us to hand feed him. He’s just never ate his dog food in one sitting he just grazes
gina koch my dog is exactly the same.
My dog likes something one day and then not the next it’s hard to know what she wants she is never excited for food time
My 4 months old Maltese she so picky about foods.

My dog is a maltese too and she’s very picky too. She eats boiled chicken but she won’t eat her kibbles or wet food
I'm picky too! :) And I can't have veggies after I eat too! I have to have them before, then they are tasty! LOL ... I love that you have a dog parents group! I wish I had a dog. I'm getting close Lisa~!!!! ~Elizabeth
Wild Woman Enchanted they are the best!!!
Genius
My dog is used to eating scraps from my family members and now we have realised that he has lost his appetite because of it so we have stopped but he is still not eating properly, he tastes 1-2 bits and then move away from it. Any tips so he can get back to normal eating cycle ?
Give him Purina probiotics stop give him human food
I have a 8 week old Rottweiler puppy, he wont eat his kibbles only raw meat, how can i get him eat his kibbles? He loves raw meats
Have you tried Primal Bone Marrow Broth? Make it into a Kibble Soup, add some Bonito flakes to it. It'll make your pup want to eat it.
I put a small splash of beef broth on my dogs food and mix it in. Works pretty well and it's cheap!
Thanks for sharing!
My dog is not eating her kibble at all please recommend something she's loosing weight and her health is deteriorating. I'm very worried. ☹️
Om Ram if you’re worried about her health I’d take her to the vet ASAP!
Is there any update with your dog? Gonna try this with mine
TacticalPanda thanks for the update. How many times do you feed your dog a day?
I always cook for my dogs but won't eat it too 🥺 any update?
A lot of these questions can be resolved with the following answers:
1. Keep being creative. Have you tried pouring bone broth into your pups food? Have you tried feeding raw (like Primal brand is great for beginner raw feeders)? Have you tried adding water? Get creative :)
2. Some of these questions sound like questions you need to talk to your vet about. I am not a vet, and I don't personally know your pup, so it's hard to me to answers some of these. Please consult your vet if you are concerned!
3. STOP feeding your pup table scraps. It encourages begging (from a training perspective) and human food is usually not good for your pup.
my dog hates fish but she loves chicken and i feed her scraps i feed her bones and chicken but i mix it in the kiblles tho
but she just ets the chicken and leaves all the kiblle i dont know hat to do 🤦♀️
So here's my situation.
Mama Meng 4 weeks is too young to be away from its mom!
@@LisaGallegos yeah but her mom no longer feed her pups
Hi Lisa :) I have a three years old Cavapoo..have him since 16 weeks old. He used to eat everything. He started to stop eating dog food and only eats mine and some treats He has gradually gone pickier, and now eats hardly anything. Only chicken wings and some of my food. He has stopped eating for up to 48 hours when I refused to offer him something else. So stubborn! And, he brings up acid when he was suppose to be eaten, but hasn't :( He is lively and full of beans otherwise. Pleeeease help.
hey ik it been 2 years but did ya manage to figure out what to do with him being picky
Yes it has :)
I still struggle with him. He's 5.5 now with the same kind of habits..
Sometimes he eats his breakfast for tea! Still very picky, and once a week or so he fasts, which mens sometimes he brings up acid. Ut he's as bubbly as ever..still easier than having a wife :))
My dog only eats scrapes..the whole family spoiled him. Just meat and dog food. Help I wish he eat his dog food. So I mix it he eats both
I have a one year old husky she’s really picky she’s would eat her kibble for like 1 week then she’s stop
What if your puppy used to eat table food? I wanna switch it to kibble
Try adding raw toppers (like from stella and chewy's) or Primal bone broth to make it more appetizing :)
@@LisaGallegos already tried that one but all she eat is the raw ang leave the kibble behind such a clever for a 4 months old pup LOL 😂 but it's okay now she kinda like pedigree
Hi I try everything for my puppie but nothing help she just want to eat ham n only meat chicken nothing like dog food or mix with rice..I'm tired of..
HELO My dog eats her kibble but not for me shell eat her full bowl for anybody else but me .... i literally have to bring my neighbor from next door shell eat for her or anybodyelse but me why someone HELP
Thanks-
I dont think she is picky but she only eat the dog food if i give her with my hamd and not in her plate its weird.
1 of our dogs is extremely picky I buy the 6lbs chicken breasts from Ralph’s and put them in the microwave for 5 mins and then cut them up into his dry food and he will eat it
Is your dog a picky eater? Let me know in the comments below!
yes, she will only eat steamed, fresh food. Not kibble, not dried dog food. Am wondering how to get her to eat kibble. She has eaten a couple of kibbles before, but majority of the time she always wants to only eat the steamed fresh beef, veggies, sweet potatoes...
yes my dog is very picky
Oh my yes! I just rescued a 1 year old Australian Kelpie 3 days ago. I’m trying to be patient but she won’t eat any kibble at all, she prefers wet food but still won’t eat a lot i’m trying to figure out what to do. I’ve tried different brands and flavors
Quiet_Destroyer ikr same!!!!
Some ideas:
1. Make your own bone broth and mix in w the kibble.
2. Make a scrambled egg w coconut oil and mix in w his kibble
3. Switch the kibble- my new fav kibble brand is open farm dog food
Also does ur pup have a clean bill of health? As I mention talk to your vet first to make sure he’s healthy.
My dog is 1 yrs old. Hes a very picky eater.
Have you tried sprinkling freeze dried raw food? You can also try fresh food (Farmers Dog delivers fresh dog food and most dogs tend to love it)
Yes then he only eats the fresh food i mixed in. He doesnt drink water either. Sometimes i get very concern when he does that
My 2 puppies won't eat any kibble even if I mixed it with canned wet food.
I love your voice
Thanks :)
Hi
My dog never eats his food and he has got bored put treat on top
my 4 month old puppy will eat literally anything except his kibble. help?
My dog is used to human food. How can I change that??
Honestly home cooked meals are better quality than kibble. Switched to plain home cooked meals (without adding salt or spices). You can use home cooked delivery like Farmers Dog, or from there switch to raw (like Primal). I personally feed my dogs raw and that's what I recommend. If that's not in the budget, then you can do half kibble/half raw or home cooked toppers. More and more kibble has been found to be super low quality so I would never recommend feeding 100% kibble.
I might try feeding my dog raw but will he eat it if it's so sudden??
Feed him more humans get gun it makes it easier
My dog isn’t a picky eater, he was just raised in the street so he’s use to eating scraps of food for people
My dog is just bad habit, she will eat kibble once she realizes we're not paying attention to her cries for scraps, really bad in my part, trying to change her diet for the better
Yes my dog is extremely a picky eater
My dog is super picky eater to the point that i need to syringe her food please help me - kim from philippines
Take your pup to the vet 💕
