Same here too. A few times I would try to help (I'm unsure if I asked or he offered), and he'd get so impatient that it was just better for me and him that I not be present. He did a lot of car repairs and gardening for my family growing up, but I have none of his skills. I wish I did. I just didn't know the importance.

I was allowed to help my dad. But only hold the flashlight, and get shouted at if I wasn't shining the light on the place that needed fixing.

Changed the door knob in my bathroom once. Not sure what I did wrong but that’s how I learned my wife can physically break down a door...split the whole damn thing. 😂

My dad died last year, I know how you feel, I had somewhat of a relationship with mine, but not as much as I wish I did, it's a painful feeling wishing to have that kind of relationship, my dad was an incredible man, and idk who your's was, but it's possible that could've been the same way, I'm so sorry for your loss

I love my dad but when he tried to show me how to do things growing up, he was not the most patient person so I didn't often ask to watch or help with his projects even though I always wanted to help. I love how patient you are and explain things even though they seem obvious. Thanks, dad!

Even though this "how do I" does not apply to me, as I don't have this style of doorknobs (I'm in New Zealand), I still watched it because Dad!
I don't watch all of these when they come out, but I do keep them in my mind, so I can refer to them at a later date.
My Dad works overseas this helps me a lot knowing I can be independent thanks a lot internet dad

1) Cry, because it's okay to cry.
2) Hug a pillow, it just helps sometimes.
3) Listen to calming music, lo-fi usually helps.

This guy is very helpful to me. Just so you know, I lost my dad when I was 9 then my mom left to work abroad so that she can raise me and send me to school. I was left to live with my relatives which was a bad descision as they didnt treated me well because they know that I dont have a dad that will protect me. I never felt them as a family and I felt that I was all alone no one to teach me stuff like these, manly stuff. It is very emotional that I found out about this channel. God bless you.

but one thing if you are laying the screws on a bathroom or kitchen counter PUT THE STOPPER ON so you dont drop them down the drain

My mom and dad split when I was young. My dad decided to only come into the picture a couple days every few years. Mom was always working so hard just to put a roof over our heads. I never got the opportunity to learn valuable life skills like the ones you've taught me. I really can't thank you enough for what you do. Thank you.

My dad died recently and he was going to change the door handle, now I have to do it. Thank you for teaching everyone what our parents couldn't.
When I was a teen the lock on my door was easy to pick, so I asked my dad to change it.
He said he'd buy it but I'd have to change it myself. I didn't use this video for help, I just thought that was a fitting thing to ahare.

My dad is too lazy to change the toilet door knob. And has settled on using a piece of cardboard to keep it stuck. So I'm gonna learn to do it myself
I could have used this a few years ago. My boyfriend replaced one of our old door knobs and managed to lock himself in the room. I had to leave work to rescue him
