Appreciate this video. A locksmith on a property I'm renting installed the doorknob to the garage backward. This helped me learn it's okay just to flip the knobs

I'm living alone & suddenly I couldn't open my door. My doorknob not working. So I decided to removed the screws & was able to open the door. And I having a hard time putting it back since I couldn't figure it out so I called my boyfriend like okay he knows this one , he's a man and he just literally said. "it's already broken. You already removed the screws ,you can't fix it back" and me here I am watching your video and was able to do it on my own. You're a life saver! Thank you

Ty so much. Of course, me being a dumb arse, decided to make sure the bevel end of the latch went in to the striker inside the room without the knobs on, locked in the room. I didn't panic too much and kept messing around with some long scissors (so glad those were in the room) and finally got it turned. Why I make my life hard ... very thankful for your video. Yay, I did it!

The screws are so long, I left a half inch gap , to peek and see the screws go into the part on the other side of the door. ... good luck ... It took me 20 minutes.

I need to take a regular lock for a deadbolt. I have a friend who is going to help me do this. The person helping me is afraid that the thickness of the frame may not fit the deadlock. Any suggestions we be very helpful!

The interior reach of the latch is not necessarily universal, but they make them adjustible for an unconventional original drilling for the handle placement.

Tip the cameraman - I hate it when the camera is constantly moving...but this was great (from an old tv camera person). On another note, I was looking for help with where the door hits the plate. For some reason, the door latch isn't longer centered.

When I reassembled my door knob the locking pall turned to lock but would spring slightly back to neutral, and a swift knob turning back and forth would cause the locking pall to loosen and it would unlock. Any advise how to fix that?

Also make sure you're getting the correct backset size. Most knobs today are adjustable from 2 3/8" - 2 3/4". If the knob is not adjustable, measure from the edge of your door, to the center of your knob, to get the size you need.

Iv changed atleast 4-5 doorknobs never a problem. First time ever I’m having a problem where the knob turns like it’s suppose to to open but never goes back to closed(the latch won’t pop back out unless I turn it with my hand)? Any help thanks?
