  • Denny Hamlin and his co-host, Jaren Allen, are joined by journalists Jordan Bianchi and Jeff Gluck for the first episode of the 2024 season.
    In this preseason recap, Denny opened up about giving a camera crew full access and sharing how it felt to see his family's perspective on his championship loss in 'Full Speed' on Netflix. Plus, we're making our picks on this year's contenders and discussing the delayed NASCAR charter deal.
    Then, Jordan and Denny discuss the NASCAR fan experience, throwing in some comparisons to other motorsports along the way. And Denny's got some thoughts on a possible payout system based on driver impact - Will it be a game changer for driver engagement?
    The group also previews the Busch Clash at the Coliseum and the woes of hosting the exhibition on the West Coast. Is Denny Hamlin race-ready after having shoulder surgery and adding a new engineer to the 11 team?

    I'm a Blaney fan, but the part with Denny's dad and the cigar from MJ was the best and most heartbreaking part of the series. Go out and break that cigar case next year Denny.

    the future is NOT electric. Not enough charging infrastructure, not enough range, not enough reliability and who wants to buy a car that has a "smaller gas tank" as it ages. (My iPhone now can be charged to about 85% of it's original battery capacity............. EV's will be the same............ or worse, if they are operating in extreme heat or cold). Great podcast , Denny. Haven't really been a fan of yours, but I am gaining an appreciation for what you bring to the sport. To be honest, I'd kinda like to see your dad break that cigar out of the case.

    @24:59 "You think it's shrinking, but the revenue is the highest it's ever been." - this speaks volumes to how the economy as a whole feels. Average joe like me and you are feeling the squeeze and frustrations of things costing more, and getting less with little to no increase in pay, but the economy is "doing great" because corporate profits and stock market value's are at an all time high. - . -

    Considering the TV deal guaranteeing an All Star race and Clash a few options do present themselves.
    You can revamp qualifying to make the pole matter. Winners of the clash and pole winners are in the event. If you keep the coliseum you have to bring the trucks maybe Xfinity to add to the weekend. You may also be able to bring it to Irwindale. Now there is a wildcard option with dirt. By design the beginning of the supercross is west Coast heavy because a lot of venues like to group the dirt events together. If you want to stay in that L.A market let AMA prep the track for you and get a date between Anaheim 2 and 3 . The option everybody wants is to bring back speedweeks. Clash, arca Saturday or Sunday, qualifying Sunday week before 500 a few days of practice, duels Thursday, trucks Friday, Xfinity Saturday, Sunday 500

    I have watched 3 episodes of the Netflix special so far. It "feels" like 50% of the 3 episodes are centered on Denny, with maybe the next 25% are Bubba and Tyler (Denny's team) the other 25% seems like everyone else in the sport. Focusing on one guy and the team he owns (even if MJ is his partner) does not seem like the best way sell a whole sport. I'm not sure that the "sport" the driving and racing, the excitement on the track is even 10% of the 3 hours I have watched to this point. I'm not hating on Denny, and I'm sure his fans will love it....... But I'm disappointed, it seems like an opportunity missed. It could have and should have been more exciting.

      I enjoyed but I also enjoyed the same exact show that was on USA. I’m upset though it was only the play offs and 5 ep. So much happend during the regular season that they didn’t mention. And the reason Denny is in it so much is because he was willing to have the cameras on him. From what I’ve heard don’t know how true it is but either the drivers sponsors or teams weren’t that okay with Netflix. Like I heard hendrick said yes for them to come but for only X amount of time and I have a feeling most of that was because of dale

    I think the producers of the Netflix series did a great job following the events as they unfolded. Personally, it didn't bother me that it didn't follow all 16 playoff drivers because I don't know how that would be possible. They can't have 16 crews, or even enough crews that could realistically film with the drivers and all their schedules in that timeframe. F1 has the entire season to shoot with their guys.
    (Plus, if they did film with all 16, then you would set up a character for half an episode who then suddenly disappears when they get cut. It's just not feasible. Plus, 16 driver backstories doesn't make for good tv. We've see that stuff before.)

  • @ryanmccall6256
    @ryanmccall6256 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I will say driver availability is not as easy to find as I thought it would be. For example, there's either not many of them for the Michigan race or they're held close to the vest until a day or so in advance.

    It's better to look at sports leagues from a long-term perspective. The NFL is in a lot of long-term trouble because the rule changes are slowly killing the sport. At the end of the day, people like to see 2 things: purity and improvement of the sport. In Nascar's case decreasing the HP and all of the rule changes hurts a lot. The good part is the sport can't die because at the end of the day racing is racing

    This idea of going to pay per view channels, really makes me upset. Because it is getting to the point, where the normal fan cannot even enjoy OR watch their sport of choice. It is getting so expensive to go to a sporting event, let alone having to purchase a special channel just to watch it. You all have the means to do this but the average sport fan, DOES NOT! I am a retired person, been watching Nascar for 50 years of my life from childhood to now. I have been lucky to attend 4/5 races, but only the ones in California. I will miss not watching any race because of the channel change to a pay per view channel. It sucks Nascar, I am on the lowest end of the money spectrum that there is. It is not fair, when major sports keep making people pay for more and more and try not to go into debt for it.

    Drives me crazy every time i see Hamlin say he "earned" all of the nice stuff he has, like his own jet. Dude you may have been paid enough to "buy" it but to earn or deserve a jet....give me a break. NOBODY DESERVES ANY MORE OR LESS THAN THE NEXT GUY. The measure of a difficult job is how many dudes out of 100 guys would trade places with you for your job. 100 out of 100 dudes would love to be a race car driver. So instead of thinking you earned or deserve anything, try a little humility and be grateful for what you are lucky enough to get paid. You literally sit in a seat and turn a wheel. So get off your high horse, brother. (And before any yahoos try to tell me its not easy to drive a race car..... give me a break)

    Hamlin is full of crap. 23X1 can do whatever they want because Jordan has the ability to print money for an eternity and could find endless sponsorship, and even pay out of pocket should he choose to do so. Hamlin is trying to sell NASCAR on this idea and doubt that they are buying. Other teams may have trouble but not 23X1.
