    I always find it so interesting looking at the comps for books. I always manage to find this one particular book at different op shops for normally around $1-2 and I consistently sell it for about $50... You just never know :)

    • @backfromburnout

      I totally agree! And there are just millions of books to learn about and often its the books that you least expect it that are worth the money! I also have staple books I continue to pick up that sell over and over for good money :)

    Another interesting video Mel, free stuff makes the profit even sweeter. I remember collecting those Falklands War magazines back in the eighties when they originally came out!

      Oh wow! That’s cool. It was a interesting looking collectable set and I knew as soon as I saw it that I would be worth something. Free stuff is awesome.

    Some of those military books can be highly collectable, it was well worth grabbing those especially when you picked them up for no cost. I'm amazed how many free hauls there are for books, they are plentiful. It's a numbers game and sooner or later you're are going to get some very significant profits with these hauls. Good luck with the book stores, I can see you having 50 thousand books in stock and selling like hot cakes soon. Interesting following your journey, thanks.

      Thanks Ian! It’s a great way for me to learn new genres when I get books for free because otherwise I’d have likely just skipped past books like this if I was cherry picking. Because I’m building a volume book store it makes sense to try and sell all the different types and have a large range. Storage will become an issue but I’m aware of that and working towards a new storage goal :)

    At the risk of repeating myself (having made a similar comment on another of your videos), as a UK seller I'm frankly amazed at the prices you manage to achieve achieve in Australia. To be honest, few of those books would raise enough here to cover shipping, even if lotted. Fiction paperbacks are almost worthless even in as new condition--which these clearly aren't! I love books and it breaks my heart to have to turn away from them when wearing my reseller hat. Nowadays I rarely have more than a handful of books in stock on eBay because, aside from university textbooks and vintage items, even good condition hardbacks will struggle to sell at a price adequate to cover shipping and fees.

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of the book prices astonish me also! Maybe as we don't have Amazon in Australia that lets us sells second hand books. I'm so grateful I can save so many from landfill. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

    Military books aren't so much about author as they are about battle, military figures such as Patton, etc. Pearl Harbor is very important to Americans and we love to read about it. Civil war, Vietnam, both world wars and the desert wars. Looks like you have some good ones.

    In the US, the Ebay app lets us scan the barcode to get sold comps - do you have that scanning ability in Aus?

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can scan on the eBay app however it's not very accurate as in Australia most sellers don't enter the barcodes into listings, so if we scan only a small percentage of the sold comps actually show up by scanning.

    Hey Mel! Quick question if you can - i subscribe to a basic store and get 600 free listings a month, when things don't sell and automatically relist do they take away from my 600? Thank you! Love your channel, I was watching - dont remember the channel name but it was a guy named Chris from America and I saw you on there and was like hey its Mel! Lol

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Chris from Daily Refinement. He is awesome.
      So if you get 600 a month free it will continue on. You don’t get 600 new listings a month if you still have 600 in you store. And it also contains your sales. So if you sold 200 things in the month and have 400 in your store. That’s your 600.

      It’s different for every job you give them. I give mine jobs she isn’t paid per individual listing or hour. I have worked out job prices with her in negotiations. You just need to find one that works with your budget on how long you think your task required will take. It’s very individual

      It's okay, but I prefer to use the desktop. When I list higher priced books I always check again on the desktop as thats where I list them. The VA gets my lower end books so it's not so much an issue for the books she is listing.
