- I bought a GIGANTIC book haul! Oh my, I don't do things in halves! This weekend I got a huge book haul of second hand books to sell on eBay. I'm a full time book seller who works from home selling books on eBay. It's a lot of work but I love what I do! Hi! My name is Mel (aka) Back from Burnout! And if you’re a reseller wanting to learn how to sell on eBay and how I run a successful eBay business selling second hand items from the thrift store then this is DEFINITELY the place for YOU! And I basically answer any and all questions any eBay resellers may have who are looking to grow their eBay business!
Congratulations on your book haul. My biggest one was at a garage sale. I walked into the garage and they had a few banana boxes sitting on the floor. I was looking through them and asked what they wanted for all of them. It was then they showed me that the wall of the garage was stacked with several rows of banana boxes, probably about 7 boxes high. "Do you want all of them?" I asked them how much and they came up with $350. Great!!!! I went to an ATM and got the money and it took me 3 pickup loads to get all of them home. They were mostly 70's, 80's, 90's paperback romance but also many frontier and Native American series including the White Indian series which I sold for about $200 (28-30 books). Overall, I estimated about 3500 books. It took a few weeks sorting them alphabetically by author in a storage unit. Any authors that had less than three books l put together and then ran a free ad on Craigslist. Pretty much everything else I eventually sold. I probably grossed at least $2,000 on them.
I can't recall if you got rid of your storage sheds or not. But if you don't want to go the, "Hey hubby! I need another shed route."...perhaps get a large tent that you can stand in or something tall and squarish that is collapsable that you can stick storage shelves or tables in. Even some sort of pull out patio you see for RVs might work. Just something that will allow you to still work and also be able to go through stuff.
So for the times like this where you need a little extra space, you (or rather the husband/kids) can pop it up and store then stuff in there (hopefully) temporarily. This would possibly depend on if it is dry enough where you're at and won't get wet though.

It's taken a while to change the mindset way of thinking!
Just an idea but you could put shelves on the entire left wall where your little photo table is and put your photo table set up at the far right of the right wall close to the door and window where you used to have the totes for your hard goods. I don’t know but you could play with the idea. You definitely need more shelves and that’s the only wall you have left.
Good to see you up and running even if you have some lingering CV19 symptoms. It can still be a struggle.

Oh Mel, my lounge and dining rooms look a bit like you shed at the moment. I went to buy a bundle of books advertised on Marketplace from a lady who turned out to be a reseller also but doesn't really sell books. She filled my car for free when I told her I sell books! Approx 500 books. Dome rubbish of course but lots of book sets plus a good stack immaculate coffee table books - yay!

Suggestion. If the weather is ok, could you put two tables outside and sort them out there. Anything to be donated or tossed could then be left outside or put in your car. The bundles can then be put into bags ready to be listed. This would free up some space to be able to walk around inside. Happy sorting and listing. Hope you find a lot of good books. 😀😀😀😀

I had mild COVID last month - today I’m home after a full on feverish night. The COVID Hotline now said I have to be assessed for COVID reinfection or long term COVID. Thank goodness there’s a video from you while I wait for my GP to open… one silver lining.
I'm where you are in terms of storing my listed items. I've spent the past two weeks focusing on relisting items, checking listings, retaking pictures, and adding measurements. Fortunately, it worked. Of course, I just filled it right back up again. 😂
Yeah, I feel you. I picked up 1800 books from a library auction. The media (few video games, audio books and movies) have made my money back plus some profit, not I have 1800 "free" books to deal with 😂🤣

I also got covid and couldn't do anything for a week. Luckily I had sourced a bunch of books so I can list them in a day

WOW, it's amazing I have noticed that my sourcing is a little like this, some weekends are amazing and I get a ton in and others I get nothing. It's nice to have a money pile though because you always have items to list.

I like what you do. But I don't photograph books anymore. I have two scanners ..A4 scanner and an A3 scanner. That works fine for me.
Glad to see you up & about. The Star Wars LP can be sold many ways. LP, Art Cover, Fan based, send it away to get authenticated & sold to auction house. Endless possibilities. Do some research before giving up a gold mine if anything you'll gain knowledge for your channel & reselling career. You might be surprised some LPs catch a good payout. Best of luck.

Glad you're feeling better Mel. Just out of curiosity what did Aaron say when you came home with all these books??? for temporary storage you may want to consider plastic collapsible crates. I got a batch from Aldi last year and when I get large batch of media/books I fill/stack them against the wall and then progressively work through them. They are quite sturdy and easy to store when not in use.

I love a good haul! I’m almost done with photographing and listing/drafting the Sunday haul. Then on to that free haul to cull and sort!
I found a Barry Humphries (as Dame Edna) LP ha ha not worth much but fun, might keep it. And Bee Gees but it's an orchestra version? I have no clue with LPs but for .30c for both, I don't think it matters :)
I just finished my comic book death pile and am back to listing my randoms until I get more in.

An amazing way to make space is to put a 10% sale on and it can work quite fast 😀

Hi Mel. Hope you are having a great day, my friend. Do have a question for you. When you do get in a new shipment of books like what we all are seeing, do you go ahead and try to make bundles out of the new ones and or do you add them if possible w/ a single book or two that is on your shelf and make it into a bundle? By watching your videos and subscribing, been watching for awhile to where your bundling inspired me to do the same w/ the books I had aquirred last summer. Been slow moving but seeing to tweek them up some and see if that will help. I have so many things in this house that I want to sell, but finding time to do so, work on my quilting things, go to my other job and take care of the house inside and out it can be so overwhelming.

Yes I do. She sometimes sells fast and other times slow. I get her for very cheap I won't pay up a lot of money for her as she can move slowly sometimes

Unfortunately I don’t get to pick the type of ads that get played but I do choose them to be skip-able.
