  • In this video I take the ten segments of the frame and join them together with splines to produce an incredibly strong joint.
That many pieces presents problems though.
One of my concerns is getting the spline in place before the glue seizes up. To that end, I have broken the assembly down into as many smaller steps as possible.
Breaking things down into smaller steps may solve one problem but it creates another. If the angle of the individual glue-up is off just a little very little, in the end that gets multiplied and accumulated. This can prevent the segments from matching up. The angles were baked in when I cut the pieces out on the Shaper Origin. Stay tuned to see if things line up when the last piece is put into place.
For those of you who have followed me for some time you can probably fast forward the parts about sanding the spline - that stuff has been covered in my past woodworking videos.

Obviously a talented woodworker, your imagination for the joinery is quite nice. I also love my Felder equipment and Shaper Origin. Look forward to seeing more content as you build the channel! Best, Mike

That’s amazing! How’s the shaper working out?
And you routed the rabit around the back prior shaping the frame? Just curious.
Awesome work! Love it! True craftsmanship.

Thank you, Kimberlee. The rabbet was routed after the frame was shaped. The Shaper Origin is working out better than expected.
