Building a Crawler Course for the Ranger Station! Who knew fixing drainage could be so fun?

  • The Berm Peak Ranger Station is our Mountain Bike vacation rental in Brevard, NC. Right now the Ranger Station has a bike workshop, a wash station, a mudroom, and many other amenities, but today we add something totally new; a Remote Control Crawler Course. Using what we know about building mountain bike trails, Kevin and I build a place for crawling at the Berm Peak Ranger Station.

Kind of blown away by Seth's generosity and constant desire to keep improving an already amazing Ranger Station. If a rider gets injured or the weather turns bad, guests now have yet another option to entertain themselves. Seth, Kevin, Curtis, and everyone else who contributes to this amazing channel, thank you. You guys are killing it!

The type of people who can pay $1,800 to stay at the ranger station are not the type of people to intentionally take a 10 dollar park tool:) I'm an airbnb host too and have had great experiences with guests at our place; we're on a lake so we provide lots of lake stuff for guests and they appreciate it.

Seth since the pandemic my son and I have been mountain bike riding. Since then I have found that my son has enjoyed the concept of mountain bike riding. I have a Diamond Back Release that my son has grown to like. I have parts to build a 29 inch bike and was hoping that you could help me find a Large Full Suspension Release frame with rear shock. My intension is to build the bike from the ground up with my son and both of us having the same kind of bike. I have been going to bike shops and they've been offering me a complete bike when all I'm looking for is a good quality frame with a rear shock. Me and my son watch your videos on TH-cam and have picked up on a lot of your tips. Thank you Seth

The lipo bag is a must! However I would caution you that the bag does nothing if it is not zipped closed as it mainly is used to keep a large column of fire from shooting out of the top of a LiPo goes bad. Don't ask me how I know this!!! However since the batteries are so small I don't think you will have many issues! Good on you for getting any LiPo fire protection as most people forget about doing so.

This is a great idea. I will say, as a hobbyist. Don’t tell them they can get wet, they’re water resistant which really just means that it won’t explode if a drop of water touches them. I’ve got a deadbolt and they are not submersible and should avoid water where possible. The other thing is you should take the batteries out to charge them. Even in the bags, they could take engines and esc’s with them. Otherwise I think this is great.

First of all, it is a business and that is part of the risk of doing business. Second of all, without exception and dozens of rentals a year, that has never been the case. As much as one would think while browsing the comments sections of today's social media, people are not as much of dirt bags as one would believe. Glad to hear your rental business is going good.

Second outside you could put up some type of rain barrier to stand under. Incase they wanna use it while raining and not get wet. You have plenty of trees so maybe just tie up some type of sun shade type thing I think would work great. All in all the place looks totally awesome.

A good combination MTB and Rc Crawling. I ride my crawler on the mountain bike trail when I don't feel like riding my bike.

Crazy generous, wow. It’s one thing to make a sweet course for guests to bring their own rigs, but to provide hobby grade RC cars and trust the visitors with charging LiPos of all things, holy cow. Whole new tier of generosity!
It warms my heart to know that all the tools are still there, although Seth is beloved by his fans and I can’t imagine someone wanting to rip him off so it’s unsurprising!

Good tip. If no tape measure around. A peice of tape across the power bar trace the hole peel stick where ever being mounted

You should look into the Worx wheel barrow/dolly for carrying big stones. It doesn't have the biggest bucket, but it does have cantilever arms and a webbing basket you can use to carry really heavy isht. It also has a spot for a trailer hitch ball if you wanted to pull it with the Gator.

Great little course to twist some things up! I might look into coming to Berm Peak Lodge sometime!

SCX24s are super cool. If you get the taste for the expense of it, going brushless is very worth it. It'll crawl at speeds it's barely noticeable to be moving.

It's always good practice to set rocks from the bottom up. Let gravity do it's work to pin everything together. Coming from years of rock work and trail building on the west coast. Thanks Seth!

I love that you buy rocks. My backyard trails are full of rock and would rather buy them when needed. LOL!
