This review KILLED me 😂😂 I felt exactly the same way about this story. You had me cackling. Hermione drove me ABSOLUTELY INSANE “not a thought in her head” hahah
    Poor Draco

Also I left a comment on your other video but I highly recommend Detraquee by Hystaracal! I actually really think you’d enjoy it as someone who also is a big fan of the original books. It’s very much a Hermione story for a long time but Draco is always in the background and the eventual Dramione endgame is SO SO believable and satisfying. It’s such a human story.
Also I love these videos!!! I’d love if you made more I’d eat them up haha. This long form discussion is so hard to find for the niche genre I’ve found myself in 😅 and you do an awesome job at giving fair well thought-out and supported commentary and critiques!

I actually loved Measure of a Man, but your review is so much fun!
Hermione was super frustrating, but for me personally she was pretty relatable (please don't hate me 🤣). I am the type of person who is very bookish and slow on the upkeep of other's feelings concerning me. I was raised in a household with a mother who was twofaced and extremely manipulative, so just because someone is "nice" or "acts interested" doesn't mean I'm going to understand that. My mother even set me up as a 16 year old with a 26 year old guy because she didn't like the boy I was interested in at the time. My mother was then angry at me for not getting in a relationship with the 26 year old.
Just an example, I met my now husband as a single mom under the impression I could no longer have children due to trauma I had sustained internally from my ex (my regular doctor had been the one to break the news to me). We started casual because we were both gun shy (me especially). I finally asked my then-casual-maybe-boyfriend as a full-grown woman if he wanted to be exclusive, and then nervous rambled that he'd been exclusive for me but since I had never really asked him I wouldn't hold it against him if I hadn't been his exclusive maybe-girlfriend (my husband is extremely charismatic and handsome, so I had convinced myself that he was way too cool to be just mine without specifically spelling it out). He laughed, held me, and stated that he didn't see me as anything other than exclusive. A while later he told me he loved me and he'd like to start dating for the possibility of staying together permanently (he knew I wasn't super stoked about the idea of getting married a second time). I didn't realize until he said it that I loved him, too. He had become someone I couldn't imagine life without. Then I found out I was pregnant, and fully expected my now-husband to think I had lied about my fertility status and leave me. He had been saving up for a fancy sports car at the time, and when I told him he was quiet for a long time, just holding me while we sat on a park bench. Then he sighed and lightheartedly said that it was a good thing he hadn't bought the car, yet, because it wouldn't hold three children (which is what we would need).

I had to watch the whole video it was so entertaining to listen you talk about this fanfic, we should have more people just talk about fanfics. I have never read it but there just so many fanfics out there that sometimes it’s nice to have a review of some ❤thank you for sharing this with dramione shippers

What a time for this video to appear on my timeline!!! 😭🤩 … I was soooo confused about this book; if I should start it or not coz it’s so darn long. And the reviews have been mixed on goodreads. I am intrigued but I will really have to be in some vacay ideal mood to start this monstrosity long book. 😭 wish me the best and thank you for such a detailed and meticulous review. 💜✨

@@babybookworm2859 I finally finished it. Took me over a week I believe to finish it while I had some time off. I do agree that it seemed wayyyyyyy tooo stretched in terms of word count. I really really loved the building up to the dramione relationship and hermione’s interaction with scorpius and the other slytherin gang but that greyback drama seemed wayyyy over exaggerated. It seemed like an antagonist just for the sake of it. I personally liked that hermione took her time and didn’t give in to Draco easily, but I did get frustrated by how much she interfered in the malfoy family dynamics when it wasn’t her place and her sneaking into Draco’s room or study (if I recall correctly). But, overall, I really loved the fic, but Yess, it’s just wayyyy too tedious and long for what it should be. Unnecessary monologues and intrinsic thought explications that became so redundant that I found myself skimming through after I got fed up of the slow-burn. It’s a hard fic to re-read for sure. Amazing writing but yeah, seemed like a TV-soap dragged on for 1000 episodes when it could have been wound up in 100.

I’ve just started reading this fic and I am at the beginning of the third part (chapter 29). Off the bat, before I dive deeper into your video but mentioning it now as you talk about the length of the fic- I wish the author had an editor or even some competent beta readers to pull her away from her meandering, deeply introspective but somewhat nonsensical in its philosophy- narrative style. There are bits I really like about the fic and bits that drive me mad. I am trying not to dnf it cause I am curious, but boy is Hermione so annoying in this.

I agree, it's the problem with a lot of fanfictions, especially ones where they get so long that you know the author is just still writing it because it's the thing they've been spending all their time in the last 5+ years. I'm close to the end of another long one now so I'm feeling this take in my bones.
