I think I'm one of those rare Politicians Wife fans, but I really love it, it's my favourite of the bunch There is criticism, not gonna lie, I think it's even possible to imagine Draco being very talkative, we honestly don't know how he is around friends, but Hermione wouldn't be that quiet, she lets draco talk and push her around, she gives him the what for and gets violent, but I think she wouldn't miss the opportunity to talk back But the thing I like is that Hermiones character is slightly unhinged, she's horrible and selfish and I love it, my biggest complaint against most fanfics is that she gets smoothed into a kinda calm, healing presence or a damsel like creature, when in books she's very abrasive to the point that her best friends will avoid her, she's a pushy mad scientist type or a doomsday prepper in essence. In Manacled i was waiting the whole time for her to take charge and do something violent and clever, and in Mortifying Ordeal I think she's too whimsical. I suppose I support womens wrongs The whole fic is about Hermione having to face that despite her amazing potential, she's not going to be the next ministar of magic, because it's a popularity contest and she's never won one of those...well that's not true, she could but she'd need to sacrifice her moral compass Also I tend to like fic where everyone is in their mid life crisis, where life itself is an obstacle, so you don't need to invent external ones, the same author has a really good ron redemption fic and I really, really like a fic Coffee and Alcohol by Alternatively which is perfect midlife but fluffier drameone imho
Thanks for the great comment, you make a good case for the politicians wife for sure. if you liked manacled but felt that Hermione was too damsel/side character who doesn't take charge, you might like secrets and masks. I'm in the middle of it so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. It's similar to manacled in story but Hermione's character is totally different. She's definitely unhinged and she's really out there doing the dang thing.
I kept thinking it'd all get better but it didn't. I kept thinking Draco would get over himself and actually like her but he didnt. Chapter 50 and he's still MAJORLY abusive and they like harw each other and it felt all so icky. Im not reading it anymore
35:33 The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy is a MASTERPIECE!! It's what the Deathly Hallows should have been.
0:25 hmm mhm ❤
As a kid I hated to read. Then I saw the covers of these books and I wanted to know more about this fantasy world! I LOVED this series as a kid and really hope that my kids will also enjoy them! The story is great for young readers and I really enjoyed all the the covers!
❤❤❤❤
I wanted a video like this!!!
Looking back on it when I was actually reading it changed so much, because originally I listened to the audiobook by “The Dramione Archives”, and it didn’t “hit” until I read it myself.
Point on Manacled - the timeline diverges from canon just before the halfblood prince - but the main difference appears when Draco kills Dumbledore earlier before Dumbledore can put all of the pieces into place for Harry to discover and destroy the horcruxes. I really love how this piece of literature (yeah, would 100% describe as literature, it’s so beautifully written) also explores the whole concept of ‘does love really win all’, and you can see how Harry’s stubbornness really only allowed him to succeed when Dumbledore was the puppeteer. Super dark. I also LOVE love love love that Ron was redeemed in some way. He was more sensible than Harry, but realistically so.
i liveeeee for these videos
Hi! Enjoyed your thoughts on the books. Just wanted to say that 'Tales of Earthsea' has a few stories (particularly 'Dragonfly') that introduce several characters and some of the main themes in 'The Other Wind'. It might be worth checking out before you tackle the final book.
Oh thanks for the insight! I didn't know it's connection as far as characters with the other books. I'll pick it up before the other wind!
When Tehanu came out I remember hearing that it was the logical next step in the series. The first book was about a young man, the second a young woman and the third an old man. The fourth book had to be added to the trilogy to tell the story of an old woman.
I swear I read this book for a bookclub but I didn't log it into GR so... maybe I hated it so much I didn't rate it? Lol
My ultimate favorites that I've read recently are: The Right/Wrong Thing To Do Manacled Detraquee Slutty, Bloody and Pathetic
Babe I don’t know how involved you are with Dramione but I’m guessing you’re pretty into it, I don’t know if you post in any other social medias but I gotta ask, have you heard of fanfiction etiquette?
Hello Sofia! Maybe you can make this comment again in a more recent video. Usually youtubers don't respond comment if it's a old video.
I actually loved Measure of a Man, but your review is so much fun! Hermione was super frustrating, but for me personally she was pretty relatable (please don't hate me 🤣). I am the type of person who is very bookish and slow on the upkeep of other's feelings concerning me. I was raised in a household with a mother who was twofaced and extremely manipulative, so just because someone is "nice" or "acts interested" doesn't mean I'm going to understand that. My mother even set me up as a 16 year old with a 26 year old guy because she didn't like the boy I was interested in at the time. My mother was then angry at me for not getting in a relationship with the 26 year old. Just an example, I met my now husband as a single mom under the impression I could no longer have children due to trauma I had sustained internally from my ex (my regular doctor had been the one to break the news to me). We started casual because we were both gun shy (me especially). I finally asked my then-casual-maybe-boyfriend as a full-grown woman if he wanted to be exclusive, and then nervous rambled that he'd been exclusive for me but since I had never really asked him I wouldn't hold it against him if I hadn't been his exclusive maybe-girlfriend (my husband is extremely charismatic and handsome, so I had convinced myself that he was way too cool to be just mine without specifically spelling it out). He laughed, held me, and stated that he didn't see me as anything other than exclusive. A while later he told me he loved me and he'd like to start dating for the possibility of staying together permanently (he knew I wasn't super stoked about the idea of getting married a second time). I didn't realize until he said it that I loved him, too. He had become someone I couldn't imagine life without. Then I found out I was pregnant, and fully expected my now-husband to think I had lied about my fertility status and leave me. He had been saving up for a fancy sports car at the time, and when I told him he was quiet for a long time, just holding me while we sat on a park bench. Then he sighed and lightheartedly said that it was a good thing he hadn't bought the car, yet, because it wouldn't hold three children (which is what we would need). <3 Fast forward a few years, and I revealed to my husband that I thought he had only stayed with me because he was a good person who didn't want to abandon the mother of his baby and not because he truly wanted to be with me. He had been devasted to hear that was how I felt. Yesrs later, we still have ups and downs like every couple, but therapy has been a game changer. I have a lot of insecurities that I've personally had to work on that include not wanting to show how I really feel about someone because they might leave, which is kind of how I felt Hermione dealt with her feelings for Draco. My husband is very in tune with other people and has a sense about them that I just don't, so often times I feel like I'm the last one "in the know." I also bake my feelings. 🤣🤣🤣 Although I have sad coffee cake and biscuits, not sad pie. I will say I agree with you 100% about the first real intimate scene. I felt like it didn't align with Hermione's character (canon or the auther's portrayal in MoaM). For someone so cautious, passionately compassionate, and seeminly insecure it just didn't fit at all. I felt like Hermione had enough faults without adding manipulating Draco's feelings for attention to the pile. I really loved the portrayal of Draco. I know/knew people in my life with PTSD/war trauma. My grandfather in particular comes to mind when I think of Draco's self-loathing and thirst to redeem himself. My grandpa was enlisted at the same time as his baby brother. My grandpa, according to the way he tells it, enlisted as an outlet for anger versus a real desire to protect or serve the country, unlike his baby brother who was more noble. My grandpa saw very little actual combat - he told me once but I forgot why specifically his unit was pulled out of the fighting early. Anyway, his baby brother died (Im assuming based on how my grandpa talked about it) a grissley death in combat. My grandpa never forgave himself for surviving while his brother didn't. My grandpa devoted himself to becoming a better person after that. When he did talk about his time in the army, it always included phrases like "I was a terrible person," "I deserved it," and "this was when I was mean." He was always incredibly uncomfortable if someone thanked him for his service (via my grandma, usually), and refused to own any veteran memorabilia that would clue you in he had served at all. He only told *me* about it, I think, because I was his shadow at my grandparents' house and always asking him questions to try and coax stories out of him. I knew my grandpa to be an extremely patient, loving man, despite his youth. I LOVED the girl group. Seriously. It inspired me to try and get my gal pals together once a month at least, although we usually bring our kids with us and it's at a park. 😅 I also loved that he iced her out. I think that Hermione needed the reality check and he needed to put that boundary in place.
Thanks for the comment! I totally see your perspective and I appreciate you sharing. And I agree about the intimacy and about how she needed to be iced out ha! Draco was good for her definitely 😌
First of all, awesome job on that bread. Your baking skills are showing! Second, I was not tracking this series and I will definitely track it down and put it on hold or whatever, sounds like my cup of tea. I enjoyed this video format, do more! Also, I am also a SAHM and student and mother of 3 y/o 👯♀️
Let me know what you think if you can read it! Even if it's two years from now (sahms who are students and mothers of toddlers unite lol)
My first fan fiction was Manacled (I literally finished it Sunday) and I’ve now started on DMATMOOBIL as a palette cleanser too 😂 never thought I’d read fanfics but now I’m invested ❤
They sneak up on you 😮💨😌
Do you know "The Missing Sister"? I'm currently reading it. It's a retelling from book 1 on, H is Harrys sister (Snape and Lilly had a fling) and is sorted into Slytherin. So far, I really like it, especially since you also get the teacher's perspective on what's happening. That's a point I really like, because reading HP as a grown up, you often think WTF does Dumbledore allow to happen when he should be caring for these kids' welfare?! Not much smut going on so far, but they're still in their fourth year, so much relationship developing innocently so far, though there is foreshadowing that this is going to change. Blaise, Theo and Pansy are also so dear! And Snape as a secret Dad is also great, as well as Lupin, who is H's godfather. It's a nice read to decompress after emotionalky draining books like Manacled.
I've never heard of that one but it does sound really interesting! Thanks for the explanation, I will add it to the list! I like those kind of "retelling" ones and I totally agree, reading it now I'm like hey WHERE ARE THE ADULTS lol
Has anyone read On the Nature of Daylight by Ikorous? GIRLLLLLLLLLL. If you like smut and ship Dramione, you NEED to read it.
Noah hi
I am not seeing Green Light in this list and it’s criminal. THE WRITING IN THE LAST CHAPTERS WAS SO BEAUTIFUL I CRIED ACTUAL TEARS.
Oh yess I've heard of green light! I'll add it to the list I love crying lol
I’ve needed someone to come after this book for so long. This book was way too boring for how mad it made me. For those who love it, go off. Im sorry. I’m glad you get it. But imho Red Rising is SJM for men
Not sure if you know this, but publicly critiquing fanfiction is really bad fandom etiquette and goes against the spirit of the community. This is why fic writers don't want their work on goodreads and why a lot of them choose to moderate their comments. Fanfiction is a gift. I'm sure you wont make a youtube video nitpicking a gift that you disliked. Also, saying this will never get published is exactly why this space is so beautiful. Writers can be as creative as they want, and we are lucky enough to get to see them do it. This is especially pertinent when a lot of your critique seems to be complaining that the fic is exactly what the author said it’s going to be in their opening note. These are real, human, deeply flawed, true to canon, painfully young and traumatized people, learning how to be in love with someone they openly hated, or, as a tag says, its more about realism than fantasy. There is enough meat in this story to warrant multiple rereads, a lot of reading between the lines and looking beyond surface level. The more you pay attention, the more it rewards you.
I hope you take my comment in stride. Okay. Hello. From a fellow dramione lover who would definitely check out the other videos. I liked this video overall especially how much detail you went into, but there are clearly _parts you missed_. Maybe it was reading between the lines or just a result of skimming the story. 1. Even before the story begins it is made clear that this is a Hermione character sketch. Not a dramione love story. Yes it’s a part of it, but détraquée was essentially hermione’s journey. The fact that we learn why Draco defected much later on doesn’t bother me because of this reason only. We’re only seeing things through Hermione. I won’t hold it against the book like you did at 00:12:00 2. Their relationship is much more subtle and it feels like you missed out on hints. When you say Draco was frustrated and said to Hermione “why are you holding back?”, the frustration wasn’t there only because he was waiting for hermione to make a move first. In the last couple of chapters he had been asking her to stay for dinner, they had a pretty intimate moment in her study from where Hermione all but ran because she chickened out. Not only is she holding back she’s also brushing off his open attempts at flirting. In the end it was him who ended up following. Hence the slight frustration. 2. Building up to elf hearing is the other soul of the story. Hermione has killed bellatrix and it is such a big deal to her she deals with a lot of it emotionally. You saying off all people in this story Hermione doesn’t need to be thinking that deep came off as so flippant. That entire sequence was her realising every horrible thing she had done including wrecking her parents life who are now forced to live double identities, marietta who is branded for life, bellatrix who she killed and so much more that she said to Draco. This is a literal plot of the story that she was meaning to tell Draco about her feelings after the elf contract passed but it backfired. 3. I heavily disagree with being a slow burn girlie and not liking their confession. It was realistic and perfect. When you say OMG Draco why are you so shocked she loves you back? It tells me you didn’t pay attention to what Hermione said. She said *I’ve been in love with you since wistman wood* which was even before they got together physically. That was what caught Draco off guard. That hermione had been in love with him since so long. He obviously didn’t anticipate _that_ 4. For people watching your video and confused, if you *only* want dramione (which is the vibe I got from this video) and do not want to deal with existential crisis of a teenager, don’t read this book. There are several others amazing ones. The author tells you at the beginning what this story is all about and if you still choose to read it and complain how Draco and Hermione begin at the last stage, then it’s on you.
I appreciate your comment and your thoughts. I agree it wasn't for me, but I didn't think it was a bad book or anything like that, and I think your comment is probably voicing a lot of the disagreements people have with my take. Thanks for taking the time to write it all out, I see what you're saying and I am still thinking about this fic on the daily. There are things I liked and things I didn't. Thanks for your perspective
Oh boiii, I have not heard of this one! I am undecided if I will attack it but appreciate that you have shared this epic review/commentary ❤
Hi! I'm so glad you finished it! I started reading it and am currently halfway through. I already know i want to bind it. Do you know if somebody has done a typeset for it? It's a hefty gal, so if I can make it easier for myself, I'd like to try
Thanks! I'm not sure if anyone did a typeset for it unfortunately:( definitely a big job. I'm assuming you'll separate it into a few books?
@babybookworm2859 Yeah, separated and that's a LOT, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Thank you though
I read The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy the other night and I've been chasing that high ever since 😭😂 I simply have not found a more perfect Dramione fic. I'm not super huge on massive amounts of romance, like I'm here for the adventure and plot. I'm still looking for another one like it. Ron's arch? Omg. It was PERFECT. I love all 3 of the golden trio and I love that she gave him the writing he deserves. It really is perfect storytelling. It completely replaces the canon DH for me. Like if I could bind it, I'd replace DH with that fic 😂 I know this vid is about a different fic, but I know you liked Disappearances as well so I had to rave about it because you were absolutely correct. It's very good!
I LOOOOOOVE disappearances and I agree with everything you're saying absolutely 😚🤌 chefs kiss perfection!!!! I am also chasing that high, nothing before or after it really compares. And ones that have come semi close (Mortifying Ordeal, .... maybe All the Wrong Things) don't have the central conflict and villain that we know and love so even if writing and story is good, they fall more flat in the traditional sense of Good Guys Fighting Big Bad Guy that drew me in to the original HP books. I'll let you know if any others ever compare
It was SO GOOD
@@babybookworm2859 HEY. I'm here a month later with an update. I have found a contender!!! It's called These Selfish Vows by HeavenlyDew. I don't think you've mentioned it in your other videos (if you have I apologize for the long rant ahead lol). IT'S SO GOOD. It's giving me everything Disappearances gave me but more adult. Good balance of Plot, adventure, and spice so far. The writing is great. AMAZING PLOT TWIST. I was so shocked. It was so good I had to immediately stop and come inform you that I finally found a good one lol. I'm about halfway through (it's a long one. 88 chapters) and I have to force myself to stop reading it or else I'll stay up all night lol. I know this is a month old so hopefully you see this so you can add it to your list if you haven't read it yet. 10/10 recommend.
With the Dramione Fan Fic videos you have provided videos I have been SEARCHING for!!!
So happy to hear!!!
blessed to have stumbled across this vid!!! so good!! also hate the miscommunication trope, by far one of the worst plot devices that gets used waaay too much
I´m trying to find it at AO3 and the audiobook and can´t find it! I´ll will save this videos for later....
Oh yesss I had this same problem. detraquee is actually written with an accent over the first and second e's. Dètraqèe! I just found out how to do it on my keyboard literally this minute lol. You can search with the authors name though, Hystaracal.
OH MY GOD YOU DID IT I’M SO HAPPY/PROUD!!! ❤ I’m at work but so excited to watch this later!!!
I can't believe I did it 😭 impressed w myself lol
Girl you are so harsh and I disagree with you on a lot of points here (including on Draco’s character / thoughts and feelings regarding Hermione for a lot of the fic) but you crack me up and I love hearing your thoughts (even though you hurt me) 😂 I saw Lionheart mentioned in another comment - I love Lionheart, it’s also a sort-of rewrite and loooooooong but it is Draco POV and he is DARLING. I wonder if you’d like it more? It’s also not complete yet but I still recommend reading regardless as it’s already super long and will be over 1million words when finished. But at the same time reading two long fics back to back can be kind of exhausting so maybe a shorter story would be a better pallet cleanser. Do you know what you’re going to read next? **edit: hahah okay just watched the last 5 minutes maybe don’t read Lionheart then like I said it *is* long but it’s way more structured. Detraquee is slice of life, whereas Lionheart follows the original 7 book structure with a story arc each year and wider character / thematic arcs across the books. I get the Dramione break after reading Detra, I believe I did the same it’s just a *lot* of story and it gives you a bit of a hangover (even though I love it ). I’ll get back to you with some shorter punchier recs hahah
Hahaha I appreciate the feedback. I WAS CRINGING THINKING OF YOU WHILE MAKING THIS VIDEO BECAUSE I WAS SCARED TO SAY SOMETHING BAD ABOUT IT. As I said, I think there's a time and place for slice of life for sure. But yeah, I'll look into Lionheart (after I read 5 children's fantasy books that are 100 pages each lol). Give me your punchy recs. Really just give me all your recs I still trust u 🙏
@@babybookworm2859okay I thought of a few randomly that are reasonably sized and GREAT: Teach Me How To Forget by scullymurphy, One and Done by pacificrimbaud, Soft As it Began by rubbersoul_02
Thank you!!!
So I’m new to Dramione (only started reading it this year) and the ones I’ve enjoyed the most have been “Love and Other Historical Accidents,” “Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love,” “The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy,” and most recently and perhaps my all time fave (and sadly super long and ongoing but I don’t think as long as this one you just read) “Lionheart” which has been just a huge shock for how much I am obsessed with it.
Ooh I haven't heard of lionheart, I'll check it out when it's done. I've read Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love and The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy and I think those are pretty much my two favorites. Love and other Historical Accidents has been on my list. Thanks for the comment!
I’ve just started reading this fic and I am at the beginning of the third part (chapter 29). Off the bat, before I dive deeper into your video but mentioning it now as you talk about the length of the fic- I wish the author had an editor or even some competent beta readers to pull her away from her meandering, deeply introspective but somewhat nonsensical in its philosophy- narrative style. There are bits I really like about the fic and bits that drive me mad. I am trying not to dnf it cause I am curious, but boy is Hermione so annoying in this.
I agree, it's the problem with a lot of fanfictions, especially ones where they get so long that you know the author is just still writing it because it's the thing they've been spending all their time in the last 5+ years. I'm close to the end of another long one now so I'm feeling this take in my bones.
only youtuber ive found with a good dramione vid
this vid made me feel so SEEN
know i’m in the minority but genuinely loved BMBS. was my second ever dramione (after manacled) and i really enjoyed the less plot heavy, not death and torture ahhhhh tone. that being said, your vid is amaze, agree on so many points and that’s the wonderful thing about the fandom, tons of stuff for everyone :) pls keep doing what you’re doing i’m totally sat for all future vids!!💚🖤💚🖤
I appreciate the perspective! And honestly I feel like reading order plays into things sooo much. Thanks for your comment and support! 💛
She goes next day to madam pomphrey for her first day of her internship not him. She goes to him coming sunday to him and they dont kiss thar day.
This is such a cozy relatable video!! I loved it ❤
I love these styles. Very fun video to watch.
It’s like you are having a fan fiction book club! I love it!
I loved manacled, the whole way through I was obsessed with how the story unfolded, the writing, everything. The ending though? Not for me, it was a very realistic ending. I am an absolute sucker for either a happy ending or a tragic ending. This ending was like… the best of a bad situation and I wasn’t going with it tbh. Then I read the Auction. 😍😍OH MY GOD! Literally so so so good and the ending absolutely satisfied me, fit so well with the story, they are so believable and I LOVE it when Ginny and Pansy are both big characters (which they are). Amazing. Chefs kiss.
I do think the ending of Manacled was kind of hard to handle. It was wallowing for days after that. I didn't like what Draco had been "reduced to" if you will, but yeah, it was realistic. Unfortunately realism isn't everything I'm reading for. And yeah, the ending of Manacled was so great, but I also really liked Ginny's character in Manacled and the badassness that she did near the end. I really like when they do right by Ginny.
@@babybookworm2859yes, I felt like that in the beginning, too. Like he was reduced. And I would have loved to see him finding a new purpose. But on the other side, it's often shown how inhumanely much he has to cope with and has to shoulder during the war. I think, she wanted to give him space to breathe and to heal (for the two of them) and letting his daughter into his life and not focussing on H alone was a big thing for him. It meant going against his "Dragon-Personality", coping with his upbringing and the story of his parents. That's a lot of personal growth. I would have been happy with some sort of interest of his own, though, apart from his two loves of his life. But perhaps we could learn from it that healing emotionally and from trauma is already achievement enough and people don't have to achieve more on top to prove their worth.
The author of this story has been called out multiple times about being problematic and has handled it inappropriately every time they've been called out. Their other story "don't look back" feels the same as bm/bs with all of the icky abuse and violence, but it had a large following and afaik it will never be finished because the author cannot handle being called to be accountable. Really enjoying your perspective on these fics!
Thanks for the comment! I believe it given the response on this one that I talked about. I think I'll be staying away from them from now on. I wish I would have known about all this before I read it
(i need you to read lionheart. its a wip but i promise you will think about it forever)
(thank you for the recommendation I will look for it)
I've read "sometimes" , it was sweet ...I read draft of living death and it was good but incredibly sad .... My favourites are "bus stop" by mermelade fever and "Ice" by Senlinyu ... both so good I enjoy rereading them every other day ... I can't wait for the review of détraquée when you finish , it's beautifully written, I kinda put it on hold 😅 it's so long and I was impatient to read other things but definitely gonna go back to finish it
Okay well I obviously love Senlinyu so I should read Ice for sure! I haven't heard of Bus Stop, I'll look that up haha maybe I will find one I can read every other day too! And yes, I'm making my way through Detraquee! I've been switching back and forth between reading and listening so I can get through it a little faster :)
Firstly, I am so sorry if my English is not that good, but I'll try my best to comment anyway! 🤣 I wanted to start this saying that your videos are amazing and I am currently obsessed with every each of them! I really love how you put your opinions in a very organizing and clear way that it's so easy to comprehend (even for me that English is not my mother language). After seeing your video it kind of gave me courage to put a review on my good reads account for this fanfic. The first time that I read this I was freshly returning to read Harry Potter's fanfic again, and after so many people on TikTok started to recommend it, I thought it wouldn't be that bad, right? So many people are complementing and give amazing reviews towards it that I thought it would be safe zone to be in. The thing about fantasy is one thing, but this pic it's a bit beyond that. For me, Draco's doesn't redeemed himself in any time. And the first spicy moment that they had was awful and hard to read. He was awful and for me was totally SA, it was brutal. All of the after moments of Draco's arm situation, and self harming was really discomfortable. I'm usually easy to read and watch dark and deep stuff, but this was something that was memorable, not in a good way. Well, thank you so much for making this video, and please, continue to upload more content about this! I don't really have any friends to talk about this kind of stuff and it would be really nice to have someone to share my thoughts about it too! PS: I loooooove your hair! It's really beautiful, and seeing you making nail art for me was really relaxing too!
Thank you so much for this sweet comment! I really appreciate it and I loved reading your thoughts. I also don't have many people to talk about with this stuff, that's why I made these videos! So I love talking about it and hearing other people's opinions. And if you read this fic and also understood my mumbling English, I know you're very good at English so don't even worry about it haha. As far as your opinions on this fic-- I totally agree. I also read some dark stuff but I wasn't prepared for what I also considered to be SA, and I did not like the way it was written, like that was okay and acceptable. The self harm, the her having to save him from himself, all of that was too much for me, and just like you I didn't see any people saying "hey this was a little too much, here's why" when I was looking around at recommendations. Just like you said, it was memorable and not in a way that is good. I'm really happy to see someone else agrees with me since I didn't see this opinion around. If you watch my other Dramione videos you can see some good recommendations without all that stuff :/ Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
SO LONG. I pushed through till the end, I usually read a book within 2-3 days. I had to actually put it down for a couple days and talk myself into finishing it. I couldn’t stand the constant talk about thrifting and mental health lol I have no problem with talking about mental health but it’s seriously every page.
Yes the thrifting talk!!! We get it, you have money but still have mOrAlS ugh
You are too funny! I kinda wanna read Detraquee but it seems like a wholeeee thing omg I don’t know if I’m ready to commit to that. I wouldn’t get anything else done lol
It doesnt seem like a whole thing it is a whole thing 😭😭 728k words it's gonna take me months
@@babybookworm2859 maybe I’ll start it once it gets cold out haha
Seconding the audiobook suggestion for Detraquee! karma_cookie’s audiobook on ao3 is FANTASTIC. I would switch back and forth sometimes when my eyes/brain got tired lol. Detraquee takes time for sure but it is so brilliant! Also I adore the fact that you checked out pacificrimbaud’s oneshots! There’s a ton on here that I haven’t read yet so you’re adding to my TBR 😊 love these videos so much!!
I will definitely check out the audiobook. I also really like switching back and forth. Just lifestyle-wise sometimes reading works better and sometimes listening works better. I'm looking forward to getting further in it! And yes I think of all the oneshot/short story authors pacificrimbaud was definitely my favorite so thank you for mentioning them to me!
Détraquée is so good! And so, so long. I was absolutely giddy reading it, though. Highly recommend the audiobook, it includes the songs and paints a great audioscape
Gah the audiobook is such a good idea!!! I didn't even think of it. Thanks!
When I was middle grade age my go-to books were the Spooks series by Joseph Delaney and the Demonata by Darren Shan (the second one is pretty gory tbh). I've heard from Aussies and Americans that Deltora Quest was great but it isn't available here (UK) nowadays, maybe it was at Scholastic fairs back in the day. I do want to find it one day out of curiosity though.
I've seen spooks around but haven't read it myself. Ill look into those! And it's too bad it's hard to find Deltora in the UK. I knew it was slightly niche but it's sad that something is rare in a whole country. It can be so hard to get into a new series if they aren't readily available or at the library.
