TL;DR their morals are out of whack.
I found it really interesting to see someone read this who doesn’t know about the: You get a POV, you don’t die- rule and also wasn’t spoiled by TikTok abt things like Marlene or Regulus volunteering for James
Absolutely read Art Heist Baby! It’s one of my favorites. It also has the element of tragedy at least with the main characters that you don’t get in Crimson Rivers.

your thoughts on the torture scene at the end are so funny because i felt the exact same way, it really came out of nowhere and was never seriously addressed by any of the characters. i actually forgot it happened until they DID mention it 10 chapters later and immediately changed the subject like it wasnt disturbing as hell
This was really interesting to watch because while I differ in many of your opinions I respect them. Because at the end of the day we are all individuals so everyone can't like everything. This was also interesting because when I read crimson rivers I wasn't really thinking about it critically. I really loved Crimson rivers but then didn't like the ending of atyd.

I really enjoyed your vlogs and review, I didn't even feel the two hours pass by. and you made so many good points, like I enjoyed the fic, but it had so many unnecessarily long and boring parts. and as much as I loved the relationships between the main trio (Sirius, Reg, James), I really didn't care much for the side characters. especially Lily, she was not herself and it annoyed me so much. I skimmed through the parts after the arenas, they were such a let down
I loved it but solid 4 stars for me. And yeah, in fact Lily (I love her in general but this Lily is so odd and OC, I don't like her at all) and way to many insights I don't care about are the things I didn't liked the most.

I think keeping this review in mind, you would enjoy Choices by Messrmoon (on ao3 as well). It is Jegulus centered, (mostly?) canon compliant, so the whole Jily and Harry thing still happens. I personally really loved how complicated they made James's character, because he can have a hard time too (people seem to tthink he can only ever be happy). and there is M.C.D. (again, canon compliant). it just made me cry ok.
And I'm just going to leave a bunch of recommendations here. Yeah, My Boyfriend's Pretty Cool (But Not as Cool as Me) by paintmegrey. it's very different from ATYD and crimson rivers, it's very easy to read, and just a funny concept by making them famous. A star for a summer's day by her_smile_forges_galaxies. fake dating, very cute, still cried. Snakes and Lions by her_smile_forges_galaxies. more serious, (I love Remus and Regulus' friendship) Best Friend's Brother by Bizarrestars. Alternate universe, just funny and well written, because Zar can write. just lovers (like we were supposed to be) by Bizarrestars. Insane. Absolutely amazing
I agree with your review so much. Thank you for filming it because Crimson Rivers gets so much hype on tik tok I thought I was alone in my opinion. Similar to you I love blending of the fandoms. It was very seamless and creative. I also love arena bits. I didn’t mind Lily but I don’t like her character in the canon much so I don’t much care if she’s OOC or not. But I think the fic had major pacing problems (apart from arena bits) and both the chapters and story overall were too long and too introspective (like I don’t have to know EVERY thought of every character to understand their motivations). The author should learn to kill their darlings (and I mean it both literally and figuratively). And last thing everyone was too self sacrificing (it made me nauseous). I mean I understand love and all that but it’s improbable that EVERYONE would literally die for everyone at the drop of a hat.
