Its far from perfect, but its leagues better than Rings of Power which peddles itself as a lore accurate look at the second age.

Hobbits with dark or brown skin are in Tolkien's original works and notes. Look up the Harfoot family of the Shire, from which Sam is descended. Then look up how many times Tolkien describes Sam as "brown".

I used to be on Deviant art for some reason. I noticed that everyone was pretty nice in the section that drew similar things i did. There would be criticism but it would be well meaning. Then there were the Sonic and MLP people that basically just took a base drawing and made it different colors and called it an "OC"... so pretty much a coloring book simulator. Those people were always rude and told everyone their art sucked.

The sad part is, a game about the shire where you just go around farming, building and customizing your hobbit hole, maybe some fighting could be a decent game for that audience that enjoys games like Stardew Valley. It's a "cozy farm sim" genre game, like Palia, Animal Crossing, or Stardew Valley.
The demographic are teenagers and young adults, ESPECIALLY females.
The entire concept is "play yourself in this cozy game!"
The idea that you shouldn't allow anyone but white people to make themselves in that genre is insane. You think that just because it has the Tolkien IP that it can't remain true to the entire genre the game is designed around? It's a huge part of that genre. Sam is the most well-known example and he's described as brown in the books. Barliman Butterbur is also described as bald in LotR. I mean, a lot of good older Fantasy has had an element of being progressive, it just looks conservative in from a modern lens. I'm perfectly fine with progressive ideas in fantasy, but it needs to be narrative first, not just agendas being slapped on some fantasy boilerplate. The ideas of inclusion, gender equality and diversity, and transgenderism(to an extent) were already heavily written about before the 90s. I grew up reading those books. Those books generally created a unique worldview though, with at least somewhat compelling narrative.
