I'm 2 years old so sit with me on this

is it considered homophobic because the act of arresting the "aggresor" basically confirms that the "victim" is indeed gay? is that the case?

    • @benjaminbronnimann3966
      @benjaminbronnimann3966 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +231

@@King_Jockey it's homophobic because the law says you can't insult a police officer, so if you get arrested for calling an officer "gay" that means they consider the word "gay" as an insult, which would make them homophobic according to their own logic.

    • @DarkDemon259
      @DarkDemon259 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +64

@@King_Jockey The idea is that the person is being arrested for insulting someone. But for this to make sense, one would have to acknowledge that being labeled as gay is insulting, hence being homophobic.
You can make the argument that there's nothing wrong with being gay (so by extention nothing wrong with being called gay)... but the fact that it was said without sarcasm and with the intent to insult someone, makes it an insult. But logic would have to hold up if the word was switched with another that shouldn't be considered insulting. For example, is there any circumstance where someone could insult another by calling them "straight" which would justify an arrest under the same pretense?

Fun fact: it was illegal to eat potatoes in France in the 1700's as the government believed they caused leprosy. Antoine-Augustin Parmentier knew that they didn't (as he had been force fed potatoes as punishment) and bought a farm, planted potatoes and posted armed guards around the fields to make people think they were super valuable. Then he instructed the guards to take any bribe by people trying to steal the 'valuable' crop.
This made potatoes really popular in France and overturned the law making it legal to eat them.

Rowan Atkinson is one of those rare few people who didn't let fame go to his head. I pray he never changes because I have always respected him for standing firm when it comes to calling out actual injustice and how it should be addressed.
Silencing people does nothing but let resentment fester and grow. But these days it seems like that's what they want. They want to silence people with griefs and issues to make those problems worse, that way they can point towards the problem they amplified and say "See, we told you!" when it reaches boiling point.

The steps of a false flag operation:
      Step one: create a problem.
Step two: let the problem grow.
Step three: create a scapegoat to blame for the problem in order to affect public opinion.
Step four: offer a solution for the problem they created themselves.
Goebbels said once that a person's capacity of independent thought is inversely proportional to the size of the group they belong to, meaning that masses are far easier to manipulate than individuals. False flag operations relies on manipulating masses; that's why they are so easy to be carried out. The way I see, the only way out of this is to recognize that we are social beings but, at the same time, we must not lose sight of our individuality.

“Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. - In this formulation, *_I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise._* ” -Karl Popper

I mean...not much has changed on that front. EV's have only gotten marginally better, but are still woefully inadequate as a mode of transportation beyond travelling from home to work in a heavily urbanized environment.
This is ignoring that they STILL explode into hellfire's you can't put out at random, the Lithium batteries that STILL can't handle the charging process and need to replaced every 5-10 years (often at the price of the car itself), and the environmental damage caused by heavy mining for Lithium and the E-waste from the junked EV's (which invalidates the entire point of owning an EV).

    • @r00tyschannel52

@@chasewilson3693 I used to hold the same opinion. My thinking was that driving an EV back then was accepting a much worse experience, for more money, and that ultimately you were only moving your exhaust pipe away from your car, and to the power station. Since at the time, the vast majority of our electricity was generated using coal/gas.
Now, it's hard to deny that things have really changed. They surely have. First of all, the range of EVs has increased massively and also charging can be much faster. But also much more of our electricity generation is coming from renewables (argue whether that's really a good thing if you like, but it is true).
But, I would agree the experience isn't on par with dinosaur juice cars, and I still drive a dinosaur juice car. It is definitely improving. But we're a LONG way away from being able to handle the situation if everyone moved to EVs tomorrow, anyway. So it's probably a good thing.

simple logic dictates that if you are getting energy for your EV from a power plant that uses fossil fuels, more of those fuels are being burned (because the EV uses the energy it receives less efficiently than an ICE) than if you had simply driven a car powered by ICE. the first step to environmental care is being efficient with the energy we already get.
now if you live in France, which has over half of its grid powered by nuclear energy, you might have some kind of argument for less pollution there, but they're a unique case. in most nations oil lobbyists and "green energy" idiots will keep nuclear energy as a spooky caricature of the Chernobyl incident, something that happened 60 years ago under an incompetent totalitarian regime. or Fukushima, another bout of incompetence which they had years of advance warning to prevent, and caused in large part by its unique location.

@@Air7Rhythms I completely understand this situation. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, I have regularly heard from my relatives that I shouldn’t 'stand out,' so as not to end up in prison. The problem is that this is exactly how the tactic of selective intimidation works. Some individuals are arrested to make others afraid to try. And I understand why this happens in Russia, for example. There’s a long history of a lack of self-awareness and reliance on a 'savior.' All through my childhood, I heard my mother say, 'when will someone come and restore order.' Only as an adult do I realize how much this way of thinking gives free rein to the rulers. Plus, Russia is a vast country geographically, making it difficult to organize people in general.
In any case, I believe a professional political scientist could better explain the reasons behind the authoritarian regime in Russia. My point is that it's absolutely normal to care for your loved ones, but at the same time, it’s important to unite against such government behavior. Because this isn’t normal. Because only together can we resist this and make changes.
I hope my message doesn’t come across as empty demagoguery. The idea was to share my experience and warn while it’s not too late.

civil war had nothing to do with free speech though? also UK's free speech is nothing like america's free speech. ours is the most liberal interpretation in the world, but you still can't say anything you want
also, being shunned, canceled, or otherwise ostracized because other people didn't like what you said is perfectly allowed. they are exercising their free speech to do so. no one is obligated to associate with those who espouse views they disagree with. this extends to businesses too so. long as you aren't discriminating or inciting violence you're pretty much good to go in the states. but if you're in someone else's house, and you say something they don't like, they are free to kick you out. this is why commenters can get banned. you don't really have the right to post anything you like on the internet
there is a lot of nuance to free speech that is completely lost to internet commenters

You gotta love the woke logic.
Prisons should be abolished because those don't re-educate, only makes the offender more familiar with crime. Also they are a symbol of oppression, somehow.

No. You are simply wrong if you are not woke.
Woke is now defined in this dictionary as “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice),”
Nobody is advocating the abolishing of prison completely, other than private for profit prisons. Why should you incentive a system that gets more money the more people you send to jail? Then it incentives prisons to make sure the prisoner never ever gets back into a normal life. So no normal skills are taught, less rights are given after release and less jobs available.
So basically making sure people most turn back to crime so that the for profit prison can get to have more tax dollars for imprisoning that person once they reoffend. Wasteful, immoral and moronic.
Woke people are generally advocating for a reformed prison system to focus on Reducing Recidivism by Strengthening the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Not giving for profit prisons rights to use prisoners as slave labor and as solely a punitive institution.
      Justice isn't synonymous with revenge.
