Dude, they have A LOT of people on their radar. More than they have agents available to follow up on them. This is not surprising in the slightest. Just look up how many people actually are arrested for terroristic threats against the president every single year, and you'll maybe understand how one or two could slip through the cracks, especially when there's a sharp spike in those threats because of elections. August this year: Ronald Syvrud was arrested for allegedly making threats against former President Donald Trump. July this year: Michael M. Wiseman was arrested on charges of written threats to kill Trump and Vance. There's a few more going back just this year but I can't be bothered listing them. And those are just the guys the papers write about because they made public threats. There's many, many more. So maybe give the FBI some slack. They're already understaffed as it is.
But now this lives rent free in people's heads for the "transparency" of their "ongoing" investigations.

Even people on police forces get disciplinary action taken against them for making bold personal statements in public, so the rules are different than for a regular citizen airing their opinions on the internet.

that information really isn't that hard to come by, its not like Trump doesn't play golf all the time in his own private golf courses and its like the the staff doesn't know well in advance when he is playing its not some top level information, heck when I worked for the state of Arkansas I knew weeks ahead of time if any important figures were going to be at the park I worked at and I was just a dishwasher at that job

No the WMD charge was from 2002, for illegal possession of a fully automatic weapon. Which was classified as a WMD under the statute at the time(still is?). The weapon he had on Sunday was a civilian semi-automatic variant of the SKS platform. There is no such thing as a "fully semi automatic" weapon, that sounds something the gun illiterate media would say though.
