  • Forever remembered as the smart and stylish First Lady to President John F Kennedy, whose shocking death in Dallas she witnessed first hand, Jackie Kennedy is an enduring icon of the 20th Century. But much about her turbulent life in the public gaze - before, during and after her marriage to Kennedy - has remained a closely guarded secret.
One of the world’s most successful biographers, J Randy Taraborrelli, has been working on a book about Jackie for thirty years, conducting hundreds of interviews with her friends, her family and her lovers. His best selling ‘Jackie, Public, Private, Secret' came out earlier this year. Reviewers have queued up to praise its blend of revelation and respect.
J Randy joins Andrew and Phil to share his insights, reveal his methods and deliver a masterclass in the art of the biography.
You can buy the book - along with thousand of others - at the Scandal Mongers own bookstore, with all profits shared between independent booksellers and podcasters.

This episode was a pleasant suprise, well done.
I’d like to suggest an episode on Lord Snowden and his scandals while married to Princess Margaret.
    Thank you both.

Jackie had the style and grace that is sadly lacking these days. Her strength in the face of such tragedy was an inspiration to us all.

What a beautiful statement- just because something is true doesn't mean it has to be said. He's so right about context too. Without context we don't know the reasons behind actions and statements.

Jacqueline had stronger historical ties than Jack I think! She has been my absolute inspiration for decades and I think I have every book written about her. She was a great lover of the written word and was surrounded by books all her life. Thanks for this interview xx

I subscribe to a Spanish journalist/author who covers the royal family from before the Franco years until today and she has released a fascinating story of when Jackie and Princess Grace came to a dinner event in Spain. The aristocrat who invited them was humiliated at the table when neither of them would acknowledge the other and it was assumed that they were divas competing for #1. Jackie got up and stormed upstairs bc she couldn't stand being in the same room with Grace Kelly. The real reason was bc Princess Grace and Prince Rainier gave a party in Washington DC too close to JFK's assassination and Jackie was horrified that they refused to cancel it out of respect. She hated Princess Grace and hung up on her when Grace tried to invite her to lunch to apologize. Fast forward to the awkward dinner event in Spain--Jackie never gave up and forgave Grace. So then, Grace was still married to royalty and SHE became angry with Jackie. Wonder if Randy cut that story?

You should have asked if Onassis's yacht's barstools were truly covered in whale scrotum leather, or was that just PR.
I can't remember if it was another Auchincloss step-child, the catty Gore Vidal, or someone else who wrote that Janet falsely claimed to be a Lee of Virginia when she entered DC society as Auch's wife. Like the Royals, so much as been written about the Kennedys that it's difficult to sift fact from fiction.

I think he sugarcoating the fact that Jackie was a gold digger. And so was her sister. They were raised to be gold diggers.
