I was listening to Andre Leon Talley's book "Chiffon Trenches" where he says how much he loves Lee Radziwill and describes her as one of his closest friends. So I thought, wow if André Leon Talley loves her so much she must really be something. And she was!
She slept with and had affairs with dozens of men... she was envious of her sister and rode her coattails to fame and notoriety. She never helf a real job.
Great conversation. I have a new found respect for Lee Radziwill and still feel bad about her son Anthony who died of testicular cancer way to young - he was JFK jr.'s best man. She is a testament to the adage, "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
You know why her son died so young ? because the mother was smoking during pregnancy, probably she fill bad about it remors and regret are substandard emotions guilt is deep, sociopaths does not experience guilt. When a woman smokes during pregnancy the thyroid doesn't function as it should be as the human grow hormonal changes start to kick in and interact with mutated genes initiating an irreversible cell death and tumour growth witch then either spread to organs or decrease white blood cells gradually weakening the immune system, the description here is water down version how her son contracted cancer and what hand she landed in the biological process.

I just finished reading "The Bouvier Sisters." I believe it must have been incredibly difficult being Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy's sister..... What I found the most interesting was Jackie's mothering skills were her greatest accomplishment!
Humphrey B There was always competition between them. Maybe she "stole him" to get back at Lee for her indiscretion with JFK. And Jackie needed him more. She needed the privacy and a place to keep her children safe. Jackies number one priority was her children.
Caroline Lee Radziwill: you were a one of a kind class act who, in my opinion, never played second fiddle to your sister or anyone else for that matter. You are an elegant symbol of an era long gone, however, listening to and reading your interviews, you moved on with life and it's tragedies with incredible poise, strength, and grace. Because you had style, many believed you were superficial, but there are so many powerful introspective layers of you fully seen when you fiercely protected your family. You will be missed. Rip and tell Jackie and my mom I said hello. Thanks
Good interview of a remarkable woman. I can see why people think the rich are snobs, but they come from a different world. Deep down we are all the same, yearning for life and love.

Onassis needed political connections Jackie had ,Lee didn't, political connections are guarantee tax free global expansion, and insider information when trouble is coming let's say on wallstreet and that's all comes from the government,Jackie Kennedy was used by Onassis for money and business.
Sofia Ruha Onassis didn't need kennedy money,he was way more wealthy ,Onassis left his country with 20.00 and built an amazing fortune without stealing and blackmail unlike Joe kennedy.
She is lovely and such a very pretty woman. Imagine all the history she has seen -- up close and personal. The thing I find so nice and refreshing about her is that she seems to be a little more accessible without leaving the door wide open. A very charming woman.
'Did you find Mick Jagger attractive?' "I can see why other people would find him attractive." 'Did you?' "I found him quite repulsive actually." Hahahahaha.....👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
That is why she slept with him, huh? Listen, do NOT believe the B.S. this woman is dishing Yes, I know she has died, & we are taught NEVER to speak ill of the dead, but this woman is such a liar. Simply, because in ALL of her stories, there is NOT a SINGLE person left to corroborate, substantiate or circumstantiate any of them. Not that there has to be, don't get me wrong. But there are MANY, MANY ways to specificize her many "stories".
Yvonne Bryant could it possibly have been a memory lapse or something that Edith had told her instead of dishonesty? Why be so negative? The interesting thing about the interview is to see a glimpse of this woman so closely related to American history, not to fact check.
What a delightful, charming woman. I'd give anything to spend an evening at a dinner table with her . . . ( I too was awful at sports, always the last one chosen on a school team ~ so I can relate to how mortifying that felt for her as well).
Lee Radziwill could not hold a candle to her older sister! Jacqueline had the brains and stole Aristotle Onassis from Lee! Herb Ross ( Director of Steel Magnolias) wanted Lee, only because of her world famous sister, big money Jackie O!
Not impressed with Sophia's management of the interview--Lee deserves more credit as a style icon and muse--being "curious" about life --really? Otherwise "I'd die"? Write a book Lee. Please. Maintain your privacy. Record your memories.
This lady holds many secrets and is very well bred (obviously.) I've read about her relationship with her sister over the years. The Kennedy's didn't treat her nicely. She arrived at her sister's funeral ll alone. JFK,Jr. escorted her to her seat. She was also considered more beautiful than her sister by many. She comes from a breed rarely seen. And, she married a prince. Fascinating woman.
+jeh500 I do agree she holds many secrets in a sense. Though I find that they're probably all out there to unravel if one chooses to look. To say the Kennedys didn't treat her nicely is very off the mark. Who would she have arrived at her sister's funeral with that was in control of someone other than she? I would also say that of course she was considered more beautiful than her sister, because the entire dynasty of these connected families is seen via the perception of what people are told about them. Along with what they choose to show and how they choose to show it.
Well, I think maybe her & her sister were raised well & married well but your way off on the "well bred" their father was a drunk that couldn't always provide. Their mother's second husband had money which I'm sure helped the girls marry well.
Hmmm...wasn't her niece Caroline in charge of funeral? Given that Jackie was ill `for months before she died...reflects on their relationship. Were her children at Jackie's funeral?
I always like tuning into this interview. In 1978 I was at the same venue with Ms. Radziwill and Truman Capote. She was dressed in a sleeveless black sheath wearing pearls. He was wearing a black leather jacket and cap to match. I am currently watching FEUD: Truman Capote vs. The Swans. I know Babe Paley was his favorite of the swans but I was hoping Callista Flockhart's role would have been more developed in the screenplay. The expose came out not long after and he was out and about with Lee.
I finished Truman Capote vs The Swans and I was so fascinated by the story of these ladies, and I'm now reading Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era. It goes into much greater detail of the swans personally - not just their relationship with Truman. It's a great book so far!
Besides, wit, charm, humor and elegance, looking at all the pics of when Lee was young reminds one of exactly how drop-dead GORGEOUS she really was! WOW!!! (RIP Mrs. Radziwill)
Jackie O and her sister Lee were different from each other but so close and wonderful companions for each other . They reminded me of The Queen and her sister Margaret.
Oh yes. Jaqueline was considered the more photogenic, but Lee was regarded as a greater beauty in person. Like Margaret of the House of Windsor, Lee should have been queen--that is if the world was a fair place.
Lee HATED Jackie. She was incredibly jealous of her. Jackie stole Ari Onassis from her. And Jackie achieved a career, several careers, that Lee wanted but could never achieve. Lee was a bitter woman.
If I remember, that Rolling Stones tour was in 1972. Lee's two children would have been only about ten and eleven years old at the time. I wonder where Lee's children were when their mother was gallivanting all over with the Rolling Stones??? This woman is pathetic.
Peter Beard was fabulous. I went on a tear during the Christmas holidays in 1984. Completely wrapped up in star/artist worship, focusing on David Burns,&Warhol. He had done a coffee table compilation of his Polaroids in 1977. It had become my bible. So after working on an art project that entaied the repetitive application of clear resign, completely stoned from vapors, i came up with a new venture to mark this endeavor, I set out to phone up every celebrity in the index. For 2days me and my friend Arthur got numbers of anyone listed. First of course was Andy. He was not there, and I left him a cleaver request for a return call, in which i received after New Years, so sweet, he apologized for the delay in returning my call, he had spent Christmas in Aspen..I nearly fainted...but even more insane was the call back from Peter...he ask if i could afford a plane ticket to NY? Told me if I showed up with a Decent 35mm, I had an internship...unfortunately i was partners in this really where its at night club, with 3 other besties, it was the it spot in those days and i had to decline. That is one regret ill have eternaly.
For those of you who are fascinated by Jackie Onassis and Lee Radziwill, I would recommend that you read In Her Sister's Shadow, a well researched account of Lee Radziwill's life. One of the facets of her life that I found interesting was her inability to manage money throughout her life, which forced her to downsize a number of times just so that she could live within her means. Her sister, Jackie, was forever pushing her to marry well so that she could have an adequate monthly allowance, which she said should be $15,000 to cover the purchase of designer clothing, accessories and other niceties. This was back in the 1960's, so this amount would equate to quite a lot of money nowadays. As we all know, Jackie Onassis succeeded in marrying well and insuring that she could maintain the lifestyle that she wanted.
Two sisters who sought money, by any means! Their Mom ( Janet) raised them ,especially Jacqueline to choose money over everything! Jacqueline was obsessed with getting money for herself,Caroline and John ( raised to chase wealthy men at any cost/ JBOnassis)!
@@lenawagenfuehr53 Jacqueline never married Maurice Tempelsman ( the Jewish Diamond Merchant). They lived together for several years, and Maurice was with her on her deathbed!
Janet ha...Lee and Jacqueline 's mother, did quite well....marrying for status and money. #Affluence Well done! Her daughters indeed were as apples that did not fall far from the tree. They were bred, reared to do so. Their stories are fascinating to say the least. Janet was controlling more than what most people probably have historically and biographically delved into. The mystique of the Bouvier sisters did not disappoint . ( Back in the day Lee was thought to be the more naturally pretty and well built one however she did not have that precise It girl factor ...like her sister. The underpinnings of their family dynamics were dysfunctional not unlike common families who possessed little money. The silver lining was being affored to Jetset and sail away from the " ruins and strained relationships," that most people cannot afford to take refuge from on a regular basis. Social and Economic status works wonders!! ( One can ignore or come to turns with the person who is staring back at them in the mirror and this point of fact , we all share. "Naked we are born and naked we die." May she rest in peace tho.

Fascinating woman. Refreshing and honest . Very well bred . What a life ! I feel sorry that her son died so young of cancer .
Please don’t ever use that term to describe human beings. It’s repulsive.
Not at all
She is so fascinating !! I could listen to her talk for days !
Her?
She was nothing without Jacqueline! Herb Ross ( the Director of Steel Magnolias) wanted her because she was the little sister of world famous / big money Jackie O/ Facts!
I enjoyed listening to her too.
this woman is who I want to become. "without memory there is no life" genius! absolute truth
i don't know if that's true tbh, she grew up in Jackie's shadow and Jackie is remembered for the things Lee was first good at- fashion, style, culture...
In the documentary “That Summer” she is young, about 39 years old and her voice is so beautiful I could listen to it all day long👂🏻✨

Never understood his appeal either
Rest In Peace, this lovely woman of glamour and history.
I was listening to Andre Leon Talley's book "Chiffon Trenches" where he says how much he loves Lee Radziwill and describes her as one of his closest friends. So I thought, wow if André Leon Talley loves her so much she must really be something. And she was!
The epitome of style, grace and class.
She slept with and had affairs with dozens of men... she was envious of her sister and rode her coattails to fame and notoriety. She never helf a real job.
No

Judging people 60 years ago by your “virtuous” standards of today is peak cringe.
Absolutely fascinating! Enchanting lady! Congratulations!
Great conversation. I have a new found respect for Lee Radziwill and still feel bad about her son Anthony who died of testicular cancer way to young - he was JFK jr.'s best man. She is a testament to the adage, "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
Mh
You know why her son died so young ? because the mother was smoking during pregnancy, probably she fill bad about it remors and regret are substandard emotions guilt is deep, sociopaths does not experience guilt. When a woman smokes during pregnancy the thyroid doesn't function as it should be as the human grow hormonal changes start to kick in and interact with mutated genes initiating an irreversible cell death and tumour growth witch then either spread to organs or decrease white blood cells gradually weakening the immune system, the description here is water down version how her son contracted cancer and what hand she landed in the biological process.

I guess well-bred is a relative term.
I just finished reading "The Bouvier Sisters." I believe it must have been incredibly difficult being Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy's sister.....
What I found the most interesting was Jackie's mothering skills were her greatest accomplishment!
Elizabeth Cimino the book “ Jackie, Janet and Lee” is also great
Humphrey B There was always competition between them. Maybe she "stole him" to get back at Lee for her indiscretion with JFK. And Jackie needed him more. She needed the privacy and a place to keep her children safe. Jackies number one priority was her children.
I have always said Jackie was the best Kennedy to serve our country , because she was a Bouvier !
Thanks
Jacqueline helped Lee pay bills for over 20 years! Lee did well after the Herb Ross divorce. I think he gave her $10 Million!

What a delightful story teller and Lady 😚
She really lived such a sad sad life on many fronts.
She had a easy life since she was the younger sister of Jacqueline Onassis!

Lee Radziwill could not hold a candle to her older sister! Jacqueline had the brains and stole Aristotle Onassis from Lee!
Herb Ross ( Director of Steel Magnolias) wanted Lee, only because of her world famous sister, big money Jackie O!
Totally glamour and fabulous, AGREED.
Not impressed with Sophia's management of the interview--Lee deserves more credit as a style icon and muse--being "curious" about life --really? Otherwise "I'd die"?
Write a book Lee. Please. Maintain your privacy. Record your memories.
I never want to stop listening to her, what an incredibly beautiful lady ❤❤
This lady holds many secrets and is very well bred (obviously.) I've
read about her relationship with her sister over the years. The Kennedy's
didn't treat her nicely. She arrived at her sister's funeral ll alone. JFK,Jr.
escorted her to her seat. She was also considered more beautiful than her
sister by many.
Perhaps more beautiful than Jackie, but Jackie was infinitely more famous...

Nobody but Sofia Coppola could give such her the classy interview she deserved!

Love the fact that she didn’t see the need to have a facelift and instead just aged gracefully and is still a beautiful and stylish woman.

So now you are Lee...rich, famous and a bad athlete
Besides, wit, charm, humor and elegance, looking at all the pics of when Lee was young reminds one of exactly how drop-dead GORGEOUS she really was! WOW!!! (RIP Mrs. Radziwill)
She was married three times - he was the second husband of three, but we call her Radziwill because he had a (defunct) title. 🤮
😂 Yeah, sooo close that Jackie left Lee out of her will.

Wow, what an incredibly interesting, smart, and beautiful woman. Bravo!
Natalie Martin BRAVA, after all, she is a woman!!!!!
In Her Sister’s Shadow is a bit of a gossip rag.
Two sisters who sought money, by any means! Their Mom ( Janet) raised them ,especially Jacqueline to choose money over everything!
Jacqueline was obsessed with getting money for herself,Caroline and John ( raised to chase wealthy men at any cost/ JBOnassis)!
So, basically, their mother raised them to be courtesans...
Why do we call these women by their second husband's name? They both went on to marry third husbands...
@@lenawagenfuehr53
Jacqueline never married Maurice Tempelsman ( the Jewish Diamond Merchant).
They lived together for several years, and Maurice was with her on her deathbed!
I love this interview...must have watched it 30 times..

Janet ha...Lee and Jacqueline 's mother, did quite well....marrying for status and money. #Affluence
Well done!

The receantment she shows against her mother, is so sad but logical. If you are divorced and marry a very wealthy man, socialite as you, and you are a social climber, very probably you will put him before your children and they grow feeling left behind.
I wonder then why she was the same kind of mother to her own children?
