Love making strawberry jam in my bread machine. I usually purchase a large bag of whole frozen strawberries.
Since I am single, I make a pint jar of jam. Takes 1 hr. 20 minutes in my machine. :Like yourself, the next morning
I'm making toast with my fresh jam, and it is delicious. Last 48 oz. bag of whole strawberries cost me $7. Since my
jam recipe only calls for 6 oz of strawberries--3/4 cups sugar--1 TBS pectin & 2 Tsp. lemon juice. It takes me awhile
to go through the whole bag of strawberries. My pint jar usually last me about 7-10 days. I make jam 3 times/month.,
so it takes me about 3 months to go through the bag of strawberries.

Hey, thank you!! I’ve never made jam in my bread machine. But between Amy’s video & your comment, I’m very eager to try my hand at it. I love me a good jam, without loads of sugar.

@@Esther-kq7nv : As long as your bread machine has a jam/jelly cycle, you can make jam. Two
of my machine have a jam/jelly cycle, and one of those two also churns butter. Pectin you
get from the grocery store, Walmart and also my local Dollar General.

@@HJKelley47 Thanks! Yes, my Zojirushi machine has a jam cycle. I’m getting the ingredients soon & plan to give it a whirl.

Just made this last night using just one cup sugar w/ the frozen strawberries, only 1/4 of pectin packet, and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to kick up the strawberry flavor. It turned out delicious and was a great pairing with the homemade hand-shaken fresh butter I made. I will never purchase store bought jam ever again.

AMY! I made this, as well as, peach jam! OMG!!!!! I used 3/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of Stevia. With the peach, I added a pat of butter, allspice and cinnamon. My bread machine (Breadman) did an amazing job. I thought it wasn’t; gong to set as it was not set - I used the sure-jell. But like you said, after an overnight stay in the fridge and BAM I had thick JAM!!!! I WILL NEVER BUY JAM AGAIN. So easy to make. The machine does all the work. My friends put it on ice cream. The low sugar greatly enhanced the taste of the fruit. The pineapple and orange JAM was off the chain! THANK YOU!

The reason there's so much sugar is to make it shelf stable. You can use less if kept in the fridge or freeze. But if you want to keep your jam in a jar at room temperature you'll need that sugar to stop it going mouldy!

Just a tip for using fresh strawberries. I've have made just strawberry jam before and once I made a 4 berry combo, strawberries, blue berries, raspberries and black berries. Since fresh strawberries are quite firm so I put them into a sauce pan and covered them with just a bit of water and brought it to a boil for about 5 minutes to soften them and that worked really well to make the whole berry batch easy to work with. Note: When I was canning the 4 berry mix I ended up with about 1 and a half pints of just the juice. So the thought struck me - This needs 'Ice Cream' and it was a great topping. For pancakes as well.

Amy! Amy! Amy! Thank you!!! I have the Breadman and the Zojirushi BB-PDC20. I used the Breadman to make this recipe. I used organic blueberries, a half cup sugar, a 1/2 cup stevia, a tbs of lemon juice, a small pat of butter to reduce the foam and 4 tsps of pectin! OMG!!!!!!! The balance of tart, sweet and freshness was mind blowing to be sure. I will never buy jam from the store again!!!!! That said, I am going to look into the Ball freshTech canner next. Thank you ever so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Amy. I'm one of your new subscribers. Love all of your videos. Now, I must try making jam in my bread machine too. Thank you for your GREAT tip on reducing the amount of sugar needed for the recipe. About a week or two ago, I saw Paula Deen's demonstration of making jam in her bread machine on Evine. She said that after she fills her mason jars with the jam, you can freeze it--no canning process needed. I don't have any idea how to can things & I too am afraid that I will get sick afterwards. Thanks, and keep up the excellent work!

Oh my goodness! Learning new tricks with the breadmaker! Amy, you have me pulling out a 4lb bag of frozen strawberries from the freezer, running to the store for the pectin and this afternoon I will be batch cooking them all! Found out that you CAN freeze made up jam once it's chilled/set in the fridge overnight. Will keep for 12 months in the freezer but all suggest use within 6 months. It's ON!!!
I have two breadmakers, one is 20 years old but the newer one has that jam cycle so here we go! THANK YOU!! 🤩🥰🥰👏🍓🍓🍓

I don't know what makes bread machine jam better than stove top, but I LOVE it. Ever since I had a bread machine I make jam in it. Amazin'! Sadly I can't use the reduced sugar recipe, I tried, it made wimpy, burned jam, for some reason. I use 2 parts fruit and 1 part sugar. I made peach and Apple, (need to mention that I should used less of different jelling agent because it was rock hard from the fridge, but delicious). I like to put lemon juice (or food grade citric acid) in it because it cuts the sugar taste and I love sour taste. (I use dr. Oetker 2:1 jelling agent, it has peservatives.)

I'm so glad you demonstrated that! I know they talk about how these machines can do that, and I've always been like how does that work? My mom made it too. I"m a bit shocked at the amount of sugar called for on that package. I'm not sure how she did it, but I would definitely want to try and use considerably less as you did. Between this and the pizza dough you're going to sell me one of these! LOL . I miss her jelly and jam and it might be fun to try it.

If you perform the regular canning process, you can store it like regular jam. I haven't ever canned anything so I am not sure about how you would do that. I am always afraid of it spoiling but if you are good at canning, it should be ok. I wonder if you can freeze it...I am not sure. I've meaning to try it out one of these day and see what happens.

    Hi Amy,
I just watched your video on making strawberry jam in your bread machine, it looked great.
I have 2 Breadman machine one is a
Bread and Butter machine and the other Bread machine is bread and jam machine, when I do finally use the jam setting I think I would like Strawberry, Cranberry & maybe Raspberry sounds good I hope you don’t get upset because I am writing you about so much, but I do like to know what you have been up to and hear what you have to say about certain things and I have seen that you have tried the products.
But I especially like your haul videos from Williams- Sonoma.
Love that store, I could spend all day in the store unfortunately the longer you stay the more you spend. I am guilty of that I admit it, my Husband hates to hear me say I want to go to Williams-Sonoma I hear him moan . It’s his problem I spend my money after my bills are paid and I put some back in savings.
But again I really enjoyed the video on Strawberry jam.
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Years
    Sincerely
    Vannessa G.
