Thank you very much. I've been watching and learning a lot from this channel. I live in Taiwan and I REALLY miss so many simple things from back home in Canada. Ever since coming across your channel, I have learned to make many of my favorite foods that I grew up with. And all of the people on this channel make it VERY easy to follow the instructions. I especially like the way Julia (I hope I have her name right) explains why you do things. Using lemon juice instead of real lemons is a perfect example. Fresh lemons are everywhere here in Taiwan so I would've used them. Thank you again. You make this poor humble man seem like I actually know how to do things in a kitchen.
This is my third year of making this jam. Each year I’ve had to increase the amount because my family eats it so quickly. Best strawberry jam we’ve ever had. Plus so easy to do.
This is my third year using this video and making this jam. The recipe and the video is a family favorite! The interplay between these two presenter-chefs is SO PROFESSIONAL and DELIGHTFUL. They make the video as awesome as it is. Thank you both!
I’ve made this version and their strawberry basil version as well. Using local Amish market’s strawberries in 2017 and it is the best jam ever. Tastes like the perfect strawberry flavor one can imagine. ATK’s my reliable source for all of my cooking.
About to make it for the fourth time. It’s perfect. Delish on homemade scones with homemade clotted cream. (I still recheck the method each time though. Lol )
@@jkstan615 Their recipe calls for 3lbs of hulled strawberries, 3 cups granulated sugar, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, and 1.25 cups of grated Granny Smith apple (peel before grating).
I made this jam and WOW! This was my first time every making jam and this recipe was so easy and helpful. I added 1 Tablespoon butter to the pot and had zero foam. I highly recommend it!!! Thank you.
3 lbs berries [crushed 3 cups sugar 1 Granny Smith apple peeled/grated] 2 Tbl bottled lemon juice boil 20-25 minutes stirring check temp 217 degrees check jam on frozen plate fill and process jars 15 min HWB
This jam is delicious. I've made it twice and both times I just let it cool a bit then put a white plastic ball jar lid on it and refrigerated it. It makes four 8 ounce jars. I give 2 away and keep 2. It stays fresh for 8-10 weeks in the fridge.
Back in the 1950s and '60s my mom used to make homemade jam from the blackberries we grew in our yard and from strawberries we picked at local farms. I never got into doing it, but after watching this video I'm inspired to give it a try. The town of Marysville, Washington, will be having their annual strawberry festival not too long from now, and that will be the perfect opportunity.
I should add that I watched this segment when it first aired in May of 2017 and told myself to do it then...but I procrastinated. But over the last two years I've acquired a big Le Creuset cocotte, a canning funnel, a Thermapen, and jar tongs. Since I have the same tools you used here, I don't have any excuses. I'm going to do it!
@@seikibrian8641 Here's some accountability! I'm excited for you, so let me know once you've accomplished it. I used to do canning days with my mom and grandmother (dreadful, due to cramped indoor quarters and no ventilation on scorcher days), but I don't have quite enough equipment to do it on my own yet (although when I do, I can assure you that I'll crank that AC to blizzard mode). It sounds like you're all set. Have fun at the festival and good luck!
@@mungbean345 Thanks! The Marysville Strawberry Festival is in June, so I have a little time to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I may not wait that long, though; I heard an ad on the radio today that one of my local markets already has fresh strawberries (probably sent up from California or Mexico), so I may go in this weekend to see how they taste.
Is it jam yet? I’m making this for the fourth time today and take my word on this, it’s delish even without all the special equipment . The jam making goes very quickly once all the fruit is washed and cut.
New to canning. The video made it easy to follow. Made the strawberry jam 3 times with this recipe. The explanations are excellent. It’s a family favorite.
Going to pick Michigan berries today and try to make some jam for my grandma. We used to go picking when I was younger. This video is a big help thank you!
made this yesterday its the best I ever ate only got temp to 213 and had been cooking for an hour did the freezer test and it traced turned out great. I've read all the comments but no one answers the question can you do same recipe for other fruits going to do blueberry next.
I made this recipe and followed all the ingredients, even the bottle lemon juice which I never buy. The only thing I did different was I put my strawberries and the apple in the food processor as my grandchildren and children like it better puréed. it turned out perfect. best jam I’ve ever made
Hi, thank you very much for the most delicious strawberry jam recipe! This is my first time making jam from strawberries. It turned out great, although a little runny but it’s only been few hours before I could not resist the urge to eat. It may set a bit more as it sits. The only thing different was I used lime juice instead of bottled lemon juice which I did not have on hand. ATK is my go to for recipes. Thank you again.
I haven't seen any comments as far as this...I followed the recipe given here (because when you go over to ATK...you have to sign up for trial/full use of the site) and it gave me 5 1/2 half pints. It looked like she used half pint jars, and maybe four of them. I canned up 5 half pints, and the last bit we ate right away! LOL! Have fun, it's a great recipe...I usually just do sugar and strawberries.
My Mom & I just got done canning a 2 Pint Jars from your recipe. I put some on a plate and tasted it after it cooled down; it tastes REALLY good and we can’t wait until we can eat the canned Strawberry 🍓 Jam.
I've made strawberry jam almost every year for a very long time. We always use the Sure Jell recipe. But, it hasn't tasted like the jam we made when I was little. Maybe, this year, I'll try this recipe and see how it tastes.
I love making Jam, I make peach jam from canned peaches a couple of times a week because we eat a lot of it. I use the same technique with sugar and lemon juice and cook for 25 minutes. I save the the juice from canned peaches and use that by itself with the sugar and lemon, it makes like a peach honey, it's really good and I don't waste the juice. God bless everybody and stay safe 💚 ✝️ Psalm 91
Made this last year, definitely going to make it again (today actually). We pick strawberries from a local organic farm, then can them the same day. 6 lbs made a year’s supply, it was perfect. My kids won’t eat any other jam now; thanks for posting this great recipe!
I have tried this recipe and it is the best strawberry jam I have ever had! We ate so much of it and could not get enough! Maybe it's because the only strawberry jam I've ever had was store bought, but now I don't even want store bought jam.

Absolutely delicious! I love America’s Test Kitchen - it’s food science. I made the strawberry jam yesterday and while it was cooking I waited for the foam to build up. It didn’t - at least not much. I will tell you that I used raw sugar, not white sugar. Could that be the reason for little to no foam at all?
My go-to jam recipe! So easy and delicious! I've used pears before, when I didn't have apples, and it works just as well, and tastes amazing!! Fun to experiment with different fruits! Def recommend!
My first canning experience and it worked perfectly 💃🏻 I can’t tell you how many times I replayed this video (No joke, at least 10 🤣) but it was worth it. This was a great tutorial and you most definitely have a new fan. The color and taste is exceptional and worth a try.

Does the butter enhance the flavour? Do you still butter bread before using this jam?
@@UnblockMind honestly it doesn’t change the flavor at all. You wouldn’t even know it’s in there. For sure butter your toast and enjoy! ❤️
