    They're called "Thatcolor" because when you use them you say "hey these are THIS color, but I wanted THATcolor"

    Everyones complaining, i don't see why. This video actually helped me to see if i wanted any of these brands

    • @aybasl5182
      @aybasl5182 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      because he doesnt even know what brand he is using, and if you are doing a marker review you should do the blending properly :S

    • @RubberDucky8734
      @RubberDucky8734 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@aybasl5182 Not necessarily, if you really want to evaluate different brands you should draw, sketch, blend and whatever else in whatever way works best for you, this way, you know EXACTLY what to expect. Everyone has slightly different techniques but if you have bad/poor techniques to begin with then a good set of markers won't make you draw like Walt Disney. As for doing an actual consumer review or comparison that's a little different/tricky. Major differences like available colors, cost, durability etc not withstanding, it's really more of a personal preference than anything.

    The prismacolor markers are double sided, it’s not just the chisel nib

      With prismacolor markers you get a chisel and a bullet or a brush and a bullet. They are the same price

      Mac Pomeroy I thought it was odd too. Considering he did have promarker. Which is letraset.

    • @Charky_Creations
      @Charky_Creations 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I own a lot of these markers. The Letraset and W&N Promarkers are exactly the same pen, even down to having the same colours. I have a Ruby marker from both versions of the branding and the colour is identical. The other markers are Letraset Tria markers. These are almost identical to the Promarkers, but they were a specific set which use Pantone colours rather than the usual Promarker colours, as well as having a third smaller nib you can use.

    • @panchovilla4316
      @panchovilla4316 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Letraset's have more ink. I believe they started making w & n promarkers in China to save money on production costs since Letraset markers are slightly longer and made in England. But other than that I own w & N and Letrasets I like both.

    Winsor & Newton Brushmarker has possibly the best tip, the brush tip is amazing, better than Copics.
    Winsor & Newton bought Letraset so all the Promarkers have now been changed and the Brushmarkers are so much better, but Copics do have a wider range of colours.

    • @Thesketchmonkey
      @Thesketchmonkey  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have not tried them but heard a lot of good stuff about them

    • @ArtSurroundsYouAll
      @ArtSurroundsYouAll 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are really good, the brush tip is the best I have used, better than copics and they blend a lot better, certainly better than Promarkers.
      I am not sure if they are easy to buy where you are, for me in the UK they are pretty cheap considering, okay they are not refillable but by the time you buy a Copic marker, then the refill ink which I believe you can get roughly five refills, the W&N Brushmarkers here in the UK are £1.95 each, you could in theory have five new pens, new tips, fresh ink for the cost of one Copic and refill.
      The sets are a great price here in the UK, but they do not have the range of colours that Copic has, but they are excellent quality, great tips and a great price.

      ArtSurroundsYouAll I actually like the Copic brush nibs better. The Winsor and Newton Markers are really good but I find them a bit too soft and floppy.

      I agree,I have a 12 vibrant set of Winsor&Newton brush markers and the brush tip is astonishing and flexible I always colour in consistently.

    I love the COPICS! They are expensive as mentioned but refillable is def. the way to go for me. I get them as gifts from other people because they are so expensive. 👍🏼 Do you have a video like this for colored pencils? I know Prismacolor is the GO TO, but many other companies like Faber-Castle, Stabilo, etc. have been stepping up their game.

    • @Thesketchmonkey
      @Thesketchmonkey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi. Just watched your Vedic. I liked your review, but my question is. I love using markers to do back ground in my coloring books. What is the best to use for getting longer usage out of them for the money. Thank you.

    • @Thesketchmonkey
      @Thesketchmonkey  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Judy, I don't think there's a specific sketching technique that will make the markers last longer unfortunately. What you could do if you use a lot of the same colors is to get Copics and refill them. Expensive investment but would make sense long term.

    Hi SketchMonkey. Thank you so much for this review. I have been stamping for many years but using pencils, the other day I thought I would try my Promarkers. As usual left the image dry overnight but then it went smudgy with the as the ink i used for the stamping was wrong. I then changed my stamping ink to a permanent one. I am now like a child with a new colouring book and I bought a pen storage the other day and now looking for a new set of colour pens. Thanks again xx. After watching this I now know which to get. Thank you once again. Hugs and hanks wendy xx P.S. have you done a water colour pen comparison xx

      Happy sketching!

      Hi SketchMonkey. Thank you for replying. after watching this one i went to look for pens I put in Touchnew markers and plenty came up BUT there are so many different companies producing them. Which were the ones you used and does it matter what company ? Like you I have Promarkers that I have had for 20years plus and still going strong so i may stick with them. When I bought them it said they would refill and you can change the nibs but haven't seen refill or nibs, if they are going to last this long then I dont mind xx

    He isn't using the markers correctly and he is only using the chisel tip when he should be testing the brush side if it has one, his tests look crapy becouse you're wiping them across the page, that's not how alcohol markers blend. nobody should take his review seriously and should look for one that gives actual information about each marker and that knows how to use them.
