I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
I just finished a tournament last weekend with lots of grass and a 3/8 Oz jig with very minimal movement got it done. Out of 15 boats only two of us had a five fish limit which I ended up in second for 16.59 lb

Ozark rig for me has been a fun mix of wacky/trig/jig around weeds. The gliding has been getting me bites in very pressured waters behind people throwing the traditional.

The Trash Master jig is great for punching mats also it doesn’t have a weed guard so it’s basically a Texas rig with a skirt

I've switched over almost entirely to a keitech shad impact rigged on a weightless texas rig instead of a senko style worm.

If you're fishing for frogs, you need plastic worms. Frogs eat frogs too. For bass, I'd say dropshot bc you don't want to punch the bottom grass. CA lakes tend to be like that.

How do you fish a wacky rig in grass with an exposed hook unless you throw it into a hole in the grass? Thanks Matt.
That’s how i do it
Matt, like yourself i love a swim jig. Hiwever ive noticed i cant comethru clean every cast im having to pull iff grass and slime and im not making bottom contact. Should i try using a lighter weighted swim jig, heavier? Or should i abort mission and just swim a weedless boot tail? Usually fishing 10ft and under. Thanks for the help man.
Try a slightly lighter size
In heavy florida pads/grass what is you wacky rig setup? Spinning rod? Ive been using a 7'1" MH fast action 20 braid to 20 lb flouro leader. Should i switch?
I like lighter fluoro but thats my opinion 10 lb
