I am glad you mentioned the word lake because I do not believe fish especially on the Mississippi River use any of these rules most of the tijme. It is a completely different environment.
Matt, I would find it interesting and super helpful if you laid out how you decide to go for largemouth or smallmouth on a given northern lake that gets deep. I am on NH lakes doing kayak tournements, but even the NY fingerlakes as an example would be awesome.
@@MattStefanFishing I live in Nebraska and travel to Minnesota twice a year. Late May early June and late August early September. I always spend a week at Mille lacs then head West to the Ottertail area which has tons of great bass lakes some of which have both large and smallmouth. Aside from Mille lacs which is so unique in its structure, I’m always baffled buy how different the northern lakes are once the grass really explodes. My learning experience on natural lakes is based on being there at a certain time once a year. I’ve got to take in as much as I can each trip. Then I get 12 months to think about it…lol Anyway fishing the grass seems to be much easier in the spring when the voids and rock are easily distinguished on side imaging and can then be exploited with live sonar. I find myself looking for bait close to edges which seems to work well sometimes and not so well other times. Would love to have some other patterns to look for when that’s not working for me. On another note, many of the northern lakes I’ve seen have gravel between the inside grass line and shore which often seems to be no man’s land in terms of activity. That sometimes throws me a curve. Thanks for videos and good luck with your next endeavor if the BPT doesn’t pan out. In my opinion, they would be fools to let you slip through the cracks. You bring the exact intangible they’re seeking with your social media presence, bait company and its potential to bring more eyes to the circuit. Thanks again.
I wish you would actually spend lots more time on this, I know Jonny has some of this and how to breakdown lakes but even us non tournament folks would love to understand more about which parts of the lake will hold more fish. I have several private lakes that are more like natural lakes, no real current, no grass etc. But even though its small still would be nice to know for the season where to concentrate your efforts. Good video as always!
I recall Randy and Jonny both mention in their videos that Lake Breakdowns was back up on Fish The Moment. I see your lakes are still included but wasn't sure you were still actively involved. Also appears Jonny has switched to structure breakdowns.
Video's that help weed out that 80-90% of the unproductive water are the gems from the pros. Seasonal considerations might be something you can work into your rotation. Perhaps how it may influence the lures could help generate more views too. Hey man a freaking wonderful miracle seeing Miles Burghoff's baby doing so well. Never hurts to get a reality check about what's really important. Be well
Hey Matt, I fish the Fox Chain which you have years ago. Everything south of Marie has next to no break lines. All there is are docks. Given how many there are how do I locate fish quicker?
cool, Matt. Not implying that your some sort of shill, just wanted you to know that if you were paying for a service, that you were getting bad customer service from them. I report the posts. It might helped if you'd mention it in a video and tell your viewers to do the same, fight spam with spam.

Lakes and rivers are different but you can still use the same set of guidelines
Thanks for the info! Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
I tried all that today on Toledo. Couldn’t find my tail with both hands. I suck. Thank God hunting season is upon me. Good luck tomorrow
Sorry to hear that
My feelings exactly! come on hunting season!😂
As always very informative. Have a to-do list for the weekend. Thank you sir!

Will do
Would love to see a video on how you approach natural lakes in the spring vs the late summer/fall when the grass has really come in.
Great suggestion!

Yep Jonny is offering my old breakdowns and I’m involved but am not doing personal lake breakdowns at the moment

Look for shoreline rock
Is this true for both large mouth and small mouth bass ?
Yea
Matt, are you paying someone to improve your engagement? if you are, they are spamming up your comment section.
Something weird is happening?
Absolutely not…they have been leaving commments for a year now. I delete it and report to TH-cam but they do nothing
I follow Matt’s channel. What do these comments look like? Thanks.
