That’s the muffler. The water comes out of the little round holes above the water intake. I have the exact same motor with the original manual.

The 2 holes at The top, is The exoste, smoke going out there and out from The prop. Water are geting out from all kind of places, do think you have a good engine there 👍

Have not had and issues with it since replacing the water pump.

I can't find a video that shows the whole process of hooking up that linkage....(the hardest part)...no help.
