    Great detail in your video!! Made the replacement of my friend's water pump much easier. Found the old pump wasn't working because the impeller key was missing. Shaft spins, impeller didn't. Quick rebuild (with your assistance) and it works great now. Thanks

    I watched a few videos, said ok, got a good one found. Pump kit came in and I couldn’t find the video I thought I saved. Found yours and it is the best one I found! Pretty much crayons and coloring book, if a guy can’t replace his outboard water pump with your video and directions, he probably should not chew gum and walk! You did an awesome job, sir!

    Your Vids have been helpful for my E35ELCIG - 1981 Evinrude 35 hp. I am working on replacing the engine wiring harness as the motor stopped working after a themostat/ water pump replacement.
    The wiring is all green and cracking. Heck, the joined by orange wires "coils"..... the black single was green also and of course broken.
    TY

    ok so I have a 1976 25hp Johnson Seahorse boat motor, the water intake is different its just a single inlet just above the prop area, does that make a difference, I have to use a water hose if I do not have a barrel, Also Do I need to drain the grease from the lower unit first.

    Hi Brandon, great video. I followed your your tutorial, and all went well. I did one extra step and removed the two flathead screws to change the oil when I am finished. I also took out a Philips screw next to the bottom flat head to help drain oil. When I reinstalled, I had issues putting the Philips back in and now can't seem to put in in or out of gear? It doesn't matter what I do the unit stays in neutral? What do you think I done wrong?

  • @bwilson1649
    @bwilson1649 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very helpful video. Instead of gasket sealing compound on the bolt threads, would anti-seize (typically used by me on spark plugs) also work? It looks like the bolts in the Evinrude kit already have anti seize on them.

  • @owenaquilina5001
    @owenaquilina5001 ปีที่แล้ว

    after following your steps the motor seems to be highly revved, and it is not the speed throtttle, and ideas what can be the issues please? also is it normal that the water pump is too tight that the blades bend when inserted?

  • @westoniii

    Leave shift linkage in N. For the whole process.

  • @CharlesJCliffe
    @CharlesJCliffe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Just a tip; once you remove the keeper @4:50 you can screw the top nut back into the bottom part by a few threads, and then remove the rod without losing the nut. Can usually do it before un-bolting the lower unit too if you shift it to separate them.

      Just that i have a big bottle assembly lube is why i used it.

    Do you still have the long shaft conversion parts (I.e. driveshaft, water tube and housing)? My ‘83 Johnson 35hp is a short shaft and it’s on a Jon boat I think is designed for a long shaft. Thank you for your time. Great video. Learned a lot.

      @@jamescecil3798 No I didn't. But I ended up shifting the lower shift rod into the reverse position by hand and then connecting the shifting rod together and it worked much better. You may have to turn the prop by hand while trying to get the lower shift rod into the reverse position. Not perfect yet, but workable. I also noticed the shifter in the motor housing was rubbing against the fuel line that wasn't helping the problem either.
