@@bluelavaart I’ve tried so many times over a few years with these plates to do this process and the image NEVER transfers to the plate! Ever! I’ve used magazines, print outs, and pages from books. I’m at a loss!
Love your Gelli work Jessica and thank you for all the video inspiration and your wonderful teaching skills! I hoped I could do it all at home but I struggled with using my Brother Laser black and white printer even with following your great Photo Shop directions and printing twice, it never worked for me. So, I change courses and had my prints made at Office Depot. (I am in the US).They have different choices of paper weights so I already know that their 28lb paper prints works fabulously, I have been able to make successful transfers at last! I'll try their 24lb paper next time. Getting prints made at OD is pretty cheap compared to replacing my printer cartridge. Also, I just tried doing a second transfer and it turned out even better than the first one! Such a great tip, I never would have thought to do that. I got that from one of your posts or comments. This is so fun...now onto the painting!
The absolute best gelli plate tutorials , your work is wonderful. It would be really helpful to compile list of color laser printers that work, since having a bw image printed in cymk is half the battle. Is it possible to write out a tutorial of order of layers and when u are using medium, and which one , that u mention you put down first as your transfer layer and then u add paint layers drying in different steps and areas and then at end are u lifting with same medium or layer of paint? Thanks
I've been searching through other videos cuz you've probably addressed this before, so I hate to keep bothering you about it, but I need printer, suggestions, brand model?
Thank you so much. Would love to see same tutorial for snap seed. I follow your work, and really love how you are taking this medium to a whole other artistic level. Instead of brayer or paint brush, sometimes I use the silicone paint brush/shapers.

Hello, I would like to know what kind of paper you usually use for printing? The paper I use always tears easily. Does different acrylic brand affect the printing result? Which brand do you usually for the gel printing? Thanks.
Good questions: The laser printer paper I use is usually just regular white printer paper. The final paper for the monotype is Bristol. Make sure it is fully dry before pulling. That helps it from tearing. I use a few different brands of acrylic paint. Yws, the different brands can make a difference.. All my supplies are listed here on my Amazon Store Front: amzn.to/4bpgISu
Awesome tutorial of using photoshop to prep your photo! I don't have photoshop, I saw you mention snapseed, do you have a tutorial of photo prep with snapseed?
I have one on this video (not sure the link will work but it is my most viewed gelli plate youtube video -not YT Shorts) "Gelli Plate Transfers With Your Own Photos! 🎨 ❤" th-cam.com/video/QZVKXyQSQyU/w-d-xo.html It is at minute 22 :)
Can we use our mono laser printers. As in just black-and-white. Will that work. I saw a questions about this on Reddit as well, many people like myself have gotten the impression that we need to have a laser printer that prints color
It is just that color printers lay down more toner. More concentrated toner=a better printer (usually) Black and white certainly work but only lay down black toner. Although the photo is black and white,, I convert the photo into CMYK. Cyan, magenta yellow & black (Key), Colors that printer uses to print. printing a black and white image with these colours rather than only black, leaves more toner on the paper which makes a better image transfer (usually)
Maybe you need a bit more paint on the plate or adjust the pressure during transferring. I have another video trouble shooting these problems. Check it out.
So much great information! Thank you for sharing this lesson.
You are so welcome! 🤗
Thank you for this. I just bought supplies and am starting tomorrow! Following your video as a guide!
Have fun! 🤩💪🙌
Gorgeous prints!
Thanks so much!

Noted! I will try to do one. Thanks so very much ♥️
Better read the reviews for Snap Seed. They are mostly all bad since the app did this last upgrade !!
So it’s just plain copy paper or glossy copy paper? Thanks for the help
Plain printer paper but it has to be a laser print out
Thank you so much for this. Question. Do you use different brayers when you are using two colors for your final layer?
🌺🌻🌼No, I use the same brayer, I might roll it off on a scrap paper.
Any suggestions on how I can better transfer the black and white photo to the gelli plate. I have a lot of inconsistency in doing this.
