- Today we tackle some unlocks that we've previously had to skip! These include key quests, unlocks, items and activities!
Primarily, the Cold War quest! One we had to start as part of our epic Ardougne Easy Diary journey - today we finish it!!
The backlog was getting a bit full of things we didn't have access to or didn't have the XP available to complete! So great progress made today to clean it up!
Lots of big things to come, I've been busy grinding!
Subscribe so you can follow the journey of Skill Guided!
Hope you enjoy the episode, like it if you do :)
I have enabled Channel Memberships and Super Thanks so if you want to support the series further please feel free and enjoy the benefits of all the extra, exclusive content!
Rules of the Series (made simple!)
-------------------------------
1. To progress and level skills, I must complete the most recent unlock according to the Skill Guide.
2. I cannot complete a quest if the XP will cause me to skip a skilling unlock. (Levelling is OK from the Quest XP if I don't skip an unlock)
3. If there are multiple unlocks at one level, I must do as many as possible.
For Rule 1:
I can return to previously unlocked methods to train the skill to the next level once the new unlocks have been completed. E.g. 50 Smithing, I must smelt a Mithril Bar and smith a Mithril Dagger before I can level the skill to 51 using any previously unlocked Smithing method, like Smithing Steel Platebodies.
For previously skipped unlocks, instead of making the description 10 paragraphs long - I have made a google document containing the unlocks we've had to skip, why we skipped them at the time and what we need to do to obtain them :)
See list of unlocks and skipped unlocks we'll return to here: docs.google.com/document/d/1J...
If anyone has read this far into the description, you're an absolute legend!

I remember Cold War being one of the first quests I was eager to do- months of walking by those cows in F2P with the "steal cowbell" option was just too tantalizing!
Hooowww gooood!
It was a great quest, needs a sequel!
Cold war is definitely like, the funniest quest in Runescape, I hope they put a sequel for it in soon, maybe go to the penguin city when sailing is out
I really enjoyed it, some sequels would be fantastic!!
there is a continuation and ending in rs3 (like a lot of these 2007 quests). say what you want about rs3's gameplay and graphics they did finish a ton of these stories and the quests there are really top tier
So good seeing you tick off so many old exceptions! Great episode as always!
Thanks mate! Feels good to tidy up the list. Honestly wish I had more time to edit the episodes and make graphics for unlocks and stuff but I'm glad you enjoy the content as always 😊
You are right, the Lumbridge range is just better. At regular ranges you have an 89.45% chance to cook a mackerel at level 37, and at the Lumbridge range it's 94.92%. It essentially gives you an invisible 4 cooking level buff, but it doesn't let you cook things you haven't unlocked, because it doesn't boost you.
It sounds like you thought that you only get a benefit if you are at the level where you cannot burn the food, but that is not how they designed the level scaling, it is always useful.
Ahhhh that's awesome!!!
That mithril grapple shortcut is a diary achievement, going to have to do it sooner or later
Absolutely!
Saving the diaries for a Herblore grind haha
So clutch in the 1-tick ranarr. Easy game. 😎
Sometimes it's just a simple game haha
It’s like watching the finale of the first arc of an epic show. How good?!
So much progress to come!!!
Just got around to watching this one! The penguin questline has been an unfortunate one in MainScape; it got a sequel that was pretty great called Hunt for Red Raktuber, but then... it feels like the devs just had random ideas that didn't connect to anything, and said "throw penguins in it because why not", and we got the _other_ two penguin quests. They aren't actually bad quests, they're pretty fun and unique! But they hardly continue the story that Hunt started to build upon, and it's been 7 years since the last one.
On top of that, way back in 2017 they announced three upcoming "expansions", Prifddinas-sized updates that would come all at once rather than in multiple parts. Well, Menaphos was the first, but then when it didn't go perfectly, they did the typical Jagex thing and cancelled everything else without a second thought. The expansion I was personally super excited about was the penguins' homeland of Acheron becoming accessible, presumably coming with a big penguin quest and maybe a connection to the Fremennik since they're from the north... but I don't think they're ever gonna do the penguins justice, unfortunately.
Wow thank you for the detailed comment/insight into the other penguin quests!
Disappointing that the story wasn't fleshed out more and that Acheron didn't happen!
Maybe OSRS will do good on what RS3 could not, one can hope!
About the lumbridge range,... IIRC you get an invisible bonus to either your cooking level or to your chance of successfully cooking (at least it was last I checked the wiki). So I think you are right or you're remembering the old wiki
I love that it is even a debate haha
It'd be interesting to see what the skill guide would look like if everything was actually set to the level you could do it. (E.g., things that require a quest to complete where the quest requires a higher skill level than the guide says you need for the item itself).
If I had actually collected each instance of the skill guide being weird, I could've sent the list to Jagex haha
You know economy is bad when 6 cabbages is worth 324 coins.
its good day when skill guided uploads.
And a good day when you comment :) thanks for the support as always mate!
@@FrankGlymes haha no problem. Gotta keep positive energy for good content
cheers ya legend also I wonder if they used the graphic interface from the headless gardener for the headless head overlay
-Drizzolini
No you're the legend!
HOW GOOD!
Hope you enjoyed the episode mate!
concept: non-IM skill-guided acc that plays like an IM except that you *must* buy into items you can currently use asap
Would make things a lot easier that's for sure!
Except the gold sink for construction would still break me haha
All this to just see some penguins
lol funny enough i am doing cold war on my gim
This series is so underrated love the content. Yep sure did, I used to train combat on the Fenkenstrain experiments in 2008 while browsing RuneHQ, those were good times.
RuneHQ would've easily been my most visited website outside of playing Runescape itself haha
And thank you! Much appreciated :)
idk you could fail getting the cow bell
Neither!! Learn something new every day I guess
I really wish they would expand on the quest line for the cold war quest. Not sure if they did in rs3.
Think they did!
Hopefully on the cards one day for osrs
a new eps hoooooow gooooood love when there is a new eps
Me too!!
Another SkillGuided!! Howwww good!
Until I am physically stopped, they will keep on coming 😂
Wouldn't mahogany homes be better on the long run ? Also can't you that whistle thing for the bird ?
Yeah I just had to do 5 rumours I think
I hope this video's title doesn't cause any confusion as far as SEO goes, lol.
I thought of a better one haha
YESSS!!! Skill Guided is back on! 😃😃😃 - Machinist_2
You better believe it!
