I've watched both Kathryn and Khoreva videos (actually they make part of my research TH-cam teachers) but I'm always avid for new videos of yours, because, for myself, no one explains technique better than you. Love your videos, Salty!

Yes, Agreed! She is very analytical breaking things down to make technique very understandable.

Same! I’ve been also watching Kathryn and Khoreva’s and now I’m so busy watching Salty’s all tutorial videos. Love her full insight and details about techniques.

LOL! Couldn't stop laughing when I closed my eyes standing on one leg and my whole body swung as if a tornado hit me. Didn't see that coming. No wonder my balance always sucks in class. Big THANK YOU!!

You explain things so clearly and giving so many examples that for even for me, a non native English speaker. is easy to understand and follow along 🙂 Balance is a big issue for me (especially as an adult starter), but I was never taught in such details the "science" of it so well.
    Thank you, Salty!

I like how down to earth and knowledgable you are. You make complicated things about ballet easy to understand. Thank you.

I agree with other comments that you explain things so clearly. I also love the examples you give as a way to remember things ( eg en dehors open the door) and the tricks you give to help visualise physical movements

That whole butt section and demonstration had me ROLLING 😂😂😂

I had my husband watch it and he was laughing and I said "but does it make sense?? does it help you understand the feeling in your butt muscles" and he said "yes, it makes perfect sense"
so, if wiping back to front is what I gotta do to help people, I'll do it!!

Thanks for the video. Very helpful for someone struggling with the wibble wobbles. I was half formulating something like a lot of ballet seems to be growing, lengthening, reaching to light in a very organic sort of way even with eyes closed.

There is an interesting parallel in the "locking" of ankle/calf that you describe.
In sports that involve the strength of the hands, like rockclimbing. A fundamental technique of the hand is "locking off" which involves fixing hand into a L hook sort of shape to hang off. A locked off hand is much much stronger than an actively "squeezing" hand.
So I suppose a locked off calf is much stronger. Just to take it to desired position then isometrically contract as hard as possible.

I’m legally blind so I can’t really see myself very well in the mirror most of the time, I have to be within a couple of feet to see anything and it’s not always the most useful information unless I’m doing some thing hysterically wrong ( OK I’m very hyper mobile so this is a frequent occurrence, but not so much anymore ) so when everyone takes away the mirrors for practice I’m just giggling in the corner. Loudly loudly giggling because I’m basically practicing like that at least every day. My problem always comes more from being on Demi, probably just cause it’s more unstable position in the first place and especially on my right leg because I have sprained that ankle at least four times. I’ve only been dancing for three years just for fun, but it’s a lot better than it used to be but that right ankle is still giving me a lot of trouble no matter what I do with it. I think some of it is also a strength issue because if I try to do any extensions which I have a lot of flexibility but just not a lot of strength past 90. Gravity is no longer my friend
I love your videos most of all out of anyone on TH-cam when it comes to explaining things, i’ve said it before but I need to say it again, you are fantastic at explaining things and explaining the why of how things work. For me that is the most helpful, someone can tell me how to do something but if I don’t know why I might have an issue i’m just never gonna get it. Your video on fouettés was the one that got me to get my first one at the barre. I can almost do it in center now..almost :)

Also, I forgot to tell you. When you said "But is everything", it made me think about the this scene from the Fleabag series. th-cam.com/video/zKZMCuppTeo/w-d-xo.html 😆
