This helped so much. You have no idea how much I’ve struggled with balance my entire life. I can balance better now at age 53 than I ever could as a young person. There’s a lot of reasons for that. One is that I was going through a tremendous amount of trauma as a young person and while I was an excellent dancer, I just could not stay in balance because I was not internally in balance. I’m much more stable now, and it shows in my physicality.
But the other thing is that no one ever TAUGHT ME HOW to balance when I was younger. No ballet teacher ever said anything about counterbalancing the body. No one ever talked about the idea that being one inch too far to the center makes you vulnerable.
Your videos and classes are just top rate! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much this was so helpful! I would like to give some feedback: the oppositional force in balancing concept is new to me and i would love to hear more about it! Could you do a follow up on the oppositional forces?

The difference between being free (to dance) and a slave (to failing) is an inch. It sounds like Eastern philosophy, but how true it is!.👍

Wonderful! Very clear explanation of the important of being on balance.
Please, sir - how do I pronounce your name? Your English is excellent, but my Chinese(?) not so much. Thank you.

0:48 “it is a technique, not a luck” I think I relied on “luck” too much….
