Should i be worried about a star sapphire that the bottom and side below the girdle are not polished ? Is that a way of sellers are trying to oass off a diffused/treated sone, and call it real star sapphire?
I hear two questions here. The first one is about the polish. Almost all star sapphires are not polished below the girdle and on the back side, that goes for whether they are diffused or natural. The second part is about diffused star sapphires. Those require someone who is trained to look at them. One simple rule is that a natural star will not be visible unless you look at it under an intense beam of light or in sunlight. A diffused star is often visible even under a simple fluorescent. If you have one feel free to take a picture or video and send it to me. I may be able to tell if it is natural or at least give you some rough idea.
