  • Evening dive at the HMAS Swan Wreck, 17 Feb 2024, right before our night dive. Start time 5:41pm, Dive #132, Dive time 47 min, Max depth 23.8m (Swan goes down to ~30m).
This was my 3rd dive at the Swan and it is such a large ship, there is never going to be enough dives to explore. And even if you saw it all, you come back tomorrow and the characters you see would all be different.
My buddy and I were thrilled to see (among many other cool fish friends) the biggest Western Blue Groper we have seen to date. He was a hungry fellow, we followed him a while as he bit into coral on the deck of the Swan to prize off any crustaceans with his teeth.
Some others on the boat had the great fortune of seeing a (probably pregnant) grey nurse shark on the ship as well! How epic, never know what you will find.
Many other fishies were seen including a blue devil, multiple Fox fish, passing Samson fish, Batfish, Scalyfin,I think a wrasse I have possibly only seen before at the Swan (yet to ID), a curious Baldchin groper and many more.
    Enjoy :)

Thats a creepy view from the higher structure just below the surface to the looming wreck below

It wasnt to be there is was quite awesome watching it come into view clearer. We could see it from the surface which is very cool - and pretty good vis considering you are looking through about 18m of water to the top of the wreck.

@@inspiredexploring Isnt the upper structure just 6 metres below the surface?

Are you going to do more dives on this wreck with more detail on the wreck itself?

Maybe - but my interest lies in the life in any location, rather than the location itself. So you will likely see more animal based content with the wreck in the background. It costs a fair bit to get out to this location if you don't have your own boat and being so deep, you have limited time there. I couldn't get to all the bits of the boat in one dive even if I wanted to (unless I got into tech diving/equipment/$$$). But I follow the cool animals I see, that's what I am interested in and that what I want to watch back when I see my videos again :)
